There's only ONE thing Jim Kelly needs to do NOW

Recommended Posts

Call some NFL friends/business associates/political buddies, then open the collective wallet and get an ownership group on deck and ready to buy the Bills. Even if JK is just a HOF figurehead the group uses to attract investors, when the day arrives that Mr. Wilson ends up on the wrong side of the grass something has to be teed up to keep the franchise in Buffalo.

Don't hold your breath waiting for the NFL to preserve tradition. Once that franchise is gone, it will never be back.

It's going to be a lonnnnnnnng ride to games on the West Coast if this doesn't happen. Hey, maybe the Barnes Firm can be a partner. They already buy 95% of the radio advertising during broadcasts anyway.

If the NFL would just openly admit that they love gambling- and trust me, they do (what other sport has weekly injury reports with rules, and fines teams for inaccuracies?)- then possibly the Seneca Nation of Indians could step in for Ralph. With two casinos in the WNY area, they would have the capital. If hardworking Buffalonians are going to lose their money at the tables and slots, at least they could feel good knowing that part of the $400 they left at the casino will go to their beloved Buffalo Bills. And wouldn't a Bills-Redskins Super Bowl rematch provide a crazy storyline???

Never happen though.

Are you serious? Would that make Ralph Wilson Stadium part of the Seneca Nation? Would there be slots inside the Fieldhouse? The owners would never approve of it.

Yes, slots in the Fieldhouse AND the Stadium!!! I can see it now in big neon lights as you enter the stadium: SECTION 117 HAS THE LOOSEST SLOTS IN TOWN!!! $5000 WINNER AT THE JETS GAME TWO WEEKS AGO!!!

Ok, let's not turn this into a debate on the NFL and gambling. Is Kelly at the head of an ownership group a viable idea?

Hey, Levy is old as granite and he's the gm. Why not Kelly as part of a ownership group?

I'd prefer this idea over Kelly being a coach on this team....and it's a lot more likely. He'd pretty much be doing what Mario Lemieux is doing with the Penguins, except for not playing. His presence with the ownership group would be a hell of a marketing move.

I think this is *somewhat* likely, since Jim gives a lot to WNY and is still a fan of the franchise. However, isn't Ralph's daughter the "heir" to the team?

I'm not 100% sure, but I believe she's expressed in the past that she isn't interested.

The only thing Kelly has to do right now is take care of his family- they recently lost a member. I don't think he has any desire to be involved as an owner or a coach. GM, or anything
