Request for tape analyzers

Can someone take a look at the tape and explain exactly what that defensive formation is where there is one DL lined up over the ball and two DE lined up wide in different zip codes from each other - with nary a defender visible between the OTs. What is the personnel and where are they going at the snap?

It appeared to be the EZ pass run defense, very effective for inflating offensive rushing yards. Also allows for improving rushing stats for running backs. Buffalo seems to be employing this technique in an effort to "wear down" the running backs by making them tear off huge chunks of yardage, thus tiring their legs from the overuse. Given enough time, the running back tires as evidenced by ysterdays game, late in the fourth quarter, Lamont Jordan had to come out from exhaustion, and Crocket replaced him for the final few minutes.

And they did a wonderful job of trying to tire out Crocket, too. See, the defense is doing something right.

I believe the technical football term is "winded" - as in "We take Willis out to catch his breath on 3rd down so he doesn't get winded"....

Sorry about that, winded probably would have been a more appropriate term over "tire", however, with the EZ Pass defensive scheme, tire tracks were seen all over the Bills defenders uniforms, I apologize profusely

Yeah,

I've seen that one quite a bit.

It appears to be our third and long package designed to look like a 3 man front - but we usually blitz 2 players. It's Grey's dime defense that is supposed to leave plenty of players in coverage, with the blitz getting to the QB to force a bad pass.

The Raiders were simply running out of that formation and picking up the long yards.
