Anyone know anyone with an intell background that would consider spending some time in a hot sandy place?

If so, PM me.

Damn, with all the know it alls around here BiB, I would think your PM in box will be full in no time. So many here seem to have a vast amount of experence in US and Middle East intell, good luck.

People can pose, but few are better at gathering "intel" than cops.

How much, and for how long?

385389[/snapback]

Requires an actual intelligence background, preferably military. Minimum of 1 year to 18 months. How much? Whatever you can get out of them. I'd guess low six figures.

If I was still single, I'd do it in a minute. But I did my time, and I have a family now, so it's out of the question. If you want, I'll forward the information to the several hundred Cryptologic Linguist Technicians and Intelligence Analysts I know to see if there's any interest.

I'll forward the data. Needs to go through me, though - not direct to the company. I'm assuming that some of these folks are versed in Arabic and Pashtu?

I know cryptologic linguists for every major language spoken in the world. I can put the word out that if they are interested, I can forward their information to someone who is interested in candidates for the sandbox. Can't promise anything, as most of the ones I have personal relationships with are Korean and Chinese linguists, but it's still a small community. Are intelligence analyst/reporters welcome also, if they are not linguists, but have worked the target?

Need M/E. Analysts, primarily. Check your PM.

Need to fill these, as well. Anyone feeling adventurous, these are pretty well always open.

Individual must be knowledgeable of Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD)/Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear, and High Explosive (CBRNE) and operational support subject matter areas.  Must be able to physically maintain a world-wide deployability status for support to the CMATs and other no-notice, quick-reaction support missions.  This will include the physical ability to draw and maintain field and chemical protective gear for field deployments; keep current the full series of deployable-status inoculations (to include anthrax, as required); and maintain an Official Passport.  Individual must also be able to use and maintain a government-issued weapon for self-protection purposes, as required.  Prior experience with rapid deployable teams is desireable.

They would rather do what they do best right back here from the comfort of thier own couches. And that is B word moan and monday quarterback about everything that real hard working people do as they try to make a difference.

You don't think it is happening there too?

My employer would love for me to do some TDY in Iraq.

My supervisor is back there the second time around. His supervisor found out what an easy "club med" gig he got he even decided to go back for second time...

We are all taking bets that he comes back even fatter than he did before.

Point taken. If you are over there as a "specialist" and not working for some security firm or a position putting you constantly in the field, it's not a bad gig - as long as you're not an idiot and do stupid, predictable stuff. Just watch your back. I've been all over the place over there from Djibouti to several "Stans" and points in between, and I'm still around. Biggest hassles are a lot of hours and often not the best working conditions. That said, I recommend it for single people without deep ties - not because of danger but because of separation issues.

You see here jackass, you need to chill. Rich has done his time, in fact he served during the height of the cold war. There are a lot of vets here who's service span the decades. Along with that we appreciate eachother's service regardless of branch, time period, etc.

I don't know where you get off telling Rich to go to the sand box, but please resepect the fact that he is a vet who served honorably when his country needed him.

And you?

Rich is cool. Even if he used to fly little kitty helicopters.

LITTLE kitty HELICOPTERS.

Take THAT, Rich.

Any of you pulled duty Fulda Gap in the 70's early 80's? We didn't have the big war there, we prevented one. Ergo...No story.

Never heard a word, did you?

All the better. His experience and expertise would sure come in handy over a green soldier.

Call me an ass but, nobody gets a free pass, including myself. I am sorry, I just can't get into the heroism.

I must be one cold, irrevrant SOB?

Wow... A first, self-name calling.

As ususal when I read your posts, I am lost. I still haven't quite figured out if you are asking questions or making points???

My bad???

??

?

As much as I respect your father, I can seperate his service and contributions to our Nation from your political views. Feel free to mock Rich's contributions to our Armed Forces, but also realize that he took the oath and stepped up in place of folks like you.

Flame away???

?

Sorry, I will start being clearer.

And HIS (my father) political views? They are virtually the same.

Nothing is black and white. Life is a question. Notice no mark there. I am the first to question myself.

I don't mock Rich's service. I also don't fall all over it.

Humility is a virtue. One does their job and should expect nothing more than their promised material compensation.

Notice how we always put caveats on things in this society? It seems that we lack something?... Notice ? mark, because that might not be what you see.

I will just leave it at that. I just have so much to say you probably won't agree with. No matter how flawed I may seem, please understand this.

I am so tired of this lame ass cop out that you guys always want to use. "I respect Rich for serving our great country, but... but... but..." Or "we support our troops, but... but... but..." It's all bull$hitt and I'm tired of hearing it.

If you did respect Rich and his service, you never would have told him to get off his ass and head on over to Iraq. Rich was on watch during a time when I was still growing up, and now I'm on watch in his place. If you had any idea of the sacrifices he has made, you never would have thought of posting such redidulous nonsense. Does this make any sense to you or do you still want to bicker with him because he called you out for being a couch potato?

If you guys really do support your troops, why don't you listen to us when we get back from over there and tell you what a difference we are making? Why is it that when we speak highly of the operation you guys want to ignore what we are saying because it contradicts you own personal views that Bush is an a-hole? Don't you free thinkers at least owe us a chance to engage your 'open minds'?

So when ARE you going to get off the couch?

I am not sure where service in the armed forces gives anyone a free pass to say things like Rich does and have them go uncommented on, especially on a internet forum. In fact, contrary to some popular beliefs, the only place where that might apply was in Robert Heinlein's Starship Troopers (the book, not the movie). Nobody here is denying RIO's right to post here, and it is clear that most people read them. What people do, and should be able to do without being called out, is comment on those posts, because much of the time they are pretty outrageous. If people didn't have an open mind, they would ignore RIO's posts entirely. An open mind doesn't mean agreement, it means a willingess to hear what people have to say, a courtesy clearly afforded RIO and other veterans of the Armed Services.

From EC Bills to Rich:

"If you're such the antithesis of the liberals you describe above, why don't you get off your ass and go over?"

My point - Rich has already done his time unlike this slacker, and there is no reason on earth that Rich should volunteer again.

I know you guys don't particularly care for Rich's views and I'm totally cool with that. My point to EC Jacknuts is that Rich has done his time, come up with something better to respond to him with.

Hey...I just posted some job ads. Can we not argue about EVERYTHING?

Don't have any IT (thought we did, did last week) in Iraq right now, but do in Hawaii and Germany. Once again great stuff for single guys. German girls are hot, and Hawaii is well...Hawaii.

Lot's of stuff around DC, but who the hell wants to come here?

Dayum, that military must be better than I thought.
