  1. 1. Should the cop be convicted of murder?

Have you heard about this? Curious on the board's take. Connor Grubb is the Ohio cop that shot the woman who was shoplifting liquor from the Krogers. When the police approached her car in the parking lot she accelerated  into him and he shot her.  She was pregnant also.  What does everyone think of this case?

Murder no, but maybe manslaughter. He shouldn't of shot her. He shouldn't have pulled the gun out. She obviously needed arrested--if theft occurred and because car had no plates, but they should of followed her and then arrested her. She was obvioulsy a POS for (if true) stealing but if a cop tells you get out of car you do it.

It doesn't seem like she would have been shot if she didn't accelerate into the cop.  I think he gets cleared, tbh.

Oh for sure, but he wasn't hurt. She should of gone to jail for her behaviour but not of gotten blasted like that. Though, I get it, but cops need to calm people down, and try has hard as possible to de-esclate

Ashley Babbitt was not in a car, not armed, and was shot and killed by a law enforcement officer who did not de-escalate.  Thoughts on that situation relative to this one?

How do you de-escalate a speeding Lexus? She literally tried to run the cop over.

Like the dead woman here, Babbitt was committing a crime too. Its a fair question, imo, and an interesting point of comparison.

Before that, he drew his gun, I think that was a mistake. Too early

And if a crazy Be itch is driving at you...get out of the way. Justice takes time sometimes. They would have arrested her eventually

I'll give that it is possible that he didn't follow protocol/procedure, but it doesnt mean he committed a crime.

Should he still be a cop?

I don't know. Police sometimes have to shoot people.  This was in self defense, right?

Tibsy,  did you know that in most jurisdictions it’s an automatic FAIL if, during a road test, you try and run someone over?

One lady apparently tries to run a police officer over in her Lexus and you’re talking de-escalation, calming things down and the police officer going to jail for stooping someone trying to run him down.  I don’t have an issue with attempting to de-escalate, or attempting to calm things down, but you lose me with “manslaughter”.

In the other case, an unarmed woman is walking toward an armed officer and he shoots her. That officer could have de-escalated, right?  Calmed things down, that sort of thing.

Just seeking clarity.

I tell you what leh-nerd.

Why don't you ask tibsy why the victim in the Charlottesville car attack didn't just "get out of the way."
