A.  I don't use the "drug"

B.  Potheads don't wake up in a binge state where they "have" to have marijuana.

I don't need to go dig up studies on the subject to prove my point do I?

So you spout a bunch of bull sh-- opinions that have no basis in fact. Not very credible for a moron with such a high "IQ".

Yes

Yes

and the answer to the third, probably not directly.

But no I don't see it as a gateway drug, I see it as a full scale problem drug.

HAHAHA You expect me to take ANYTHING you pulled off of a GOVERNMENT site seriously?

I'm sure at whitehouse.gov they are telling everyone how great a job Bush is doing too.

Like I said, I can back my argument up with independent studies (you know, ones not conducted by the government media machine.)

Would you like me to show you some facts?

You mean ones that are not conduted by openly drug legalization groups or others that would profit from legalization of drugs?

If you would like.

The only reason marijuana is illegal is because the government DOESN'T stand to profit from the legalization of it.

People get addicted to pepsi and cheeseburgers, too. Bill, you might want to Google a bit on the differences between mental dependance and physical addiction.

367974[/snapback]

Physical addiction entails becoming physically ill from not using the drug. I guess in the simplest definiton of "mental addiction" that marijuana may be addicting, as long time users have shown signs of being irritable for about 5 days after they have quit using marijuana.

I understand the difference. But do you and everyone understand what class I means. It means the drug serves no medical purpose what so ever and cannot be prescribed. Just because opium or LSD are more dangerous or addictive, doesn't mean it should be permitted. Yes it is metally addictive. Questionable on physically addictive, but as Tom points out, what really is the diffeence, if you experience the crave and need for it, you are showing physical signs of addition, even if the "effects" are only mentally driven.

What??? Again there you go spouting opinion with no facts. Taxes, oversight and regulation laws that would impose a lot of additiona; corporate taxes on companies that would grow and distribute. You think the government doesn't make a shitload of money off cigarettes?

Wow you opinion doesn't match with fact. Go read a real book and stop reading poetry, you might learn something useful.

Marijuana is not a drug, first and foremost. It's not manufactured with chemicals in labs, and it can be grown to it's truest form from a seed in the ground. It's an herb.

Then so is opium and cocaine. Let's legalize them all. Wow, yet another opinion that is not fact based.

I know more about cigarette taxes and how that business works than 99 percent of the posters here. Trust me when I tell you that.

The difference in this case is simple. If marijuana were legalized with the idea that they were going to tax the hell out of it, people would just start growing their own. They would make that illegal, but that is almost impossible to enforce. I don't know about you, but most people can't produce high grade tobacco products out of their home.

Why would anyone go pay for marijuana through the government when they can grow their own and smoke it without being in fear of going to jail?

And people wonder why some of us beat on you.

This statement proves that when a person finds it necessary to randomly express an opinion about a topic for the sake of hearing themselves think, then on the rare chance they actually have an opinion that is worthwhile, no one will listen because the stupid opinions saturate their thoughts market.

In essence, they become the boy who cried "Here's what I think..." wolf. Make enough stupid comments and no one pays attention to the smart ones.

Well they could restrict that just like alchohol. You can't make your own legally. But no they don't do that becuase the drug is addictive, and serves no purpose.

For the same reason most people don't make their own beer or vodka, and yet they can easily make their own in the garage LEGALLY if they so choose!

You really, really, really need to bone up on basic economics before you start talking out your ass like this.

What did I just say? I said that it would be almost IMPOSSIBLE to enforce. I could grow marijuana in my home and the police won't be knocking on my door. Why would I go pay the government 30 dollars for 6 joints when I can grow my own? If everyone is growing their own without enforcement of anti growing laws, the government won't make a dime. No money, hence no legalization.

Beer you can make legally. But can you legally make vodka? I wasn't aware of that.

Just checked, it is illegal to make distilled alchohol without a license. So yeah you coould make beer and wine, but that's about it.

Ahh, just like downloading NIN cd's. It's only illegal if you get caught.
