I was being generous. We here at UT have a couple legends about the campus:

- You can't walk for more then 5 seconds around campus without seeing a hot chick.

- The fountain in front of the south mall will come to life if a virgin ever graduates UT.

:flirt:

We were, though, the school that WAS ranked #1 by Playboy. Lots of campuses claim this is the case, but only we truely have.

:flirt: I can confirm that this is true.

Dude have you ever seen that Alex Jones guy or Perry Logan on Austin public TV?

Talk about goofy, psychotic opinions.  :P

355973

Hell YES! I talk about Alex Jones all the time.

He was on TV a couple weeks ago in a full Darth Vader costume imitating what he thinks the government is telling us to think about race relations. In his best Darth Vader voice he was saying stuff like "keep hating one another based on your skin color and ignore the evil deeds done by your government." There was something surreal about seeing DV sitting behind Alex Jones' cheap little desk.

He's either the funniest man alive (i.e. this is all just a joke) or completely insane.

His website is here.

lol I read in the Daily Texan that the Alamo Draft House was soldout this weekend because they were showing Alex Jones' films.

People here can be retarded.

He's not as bad as Perry Logan tho - he's an old dude that films his show in a library. I swear to God its 30 minutes of sh-------, Powerpoint style special effects of him saying "Republicans have repressed homosexual energy". He's on the same public channel that Alex is.

Pics?

Actually, I should start bringing my camera to work! A few years back there was this pilot that would carry an SLR and a mambo zoom lens, I guess he had the right idea! Usually, the fun starts when they want to lock down from spending the day on Lake Michigan, they are all liquored up and free! Then there are the old ladies that do it and that gets downright scary!

We do so many PC (about 30k a year) I almost take it for granted... Our new security camera (brought to by the kind folks at homeland security :P ) has a great zoom in feature! Now chicks on jetskiis with no PFD... I turn a blind eye! :flirt:

Here's the Darth Vader article with the video.

The title is "Darth Vader and the New World Order"

You can't even make this stuff up.

Here's a highlight of Jones' insight:

When I first saw Episode I, I instantly understood the plot. Being a student of history, it made total sense. But, I was amazed, time and time again, when talking to educated adults who were also Star Wars fans that they didn't get it. They'd say, "it doesn't make any sense."
:flirt:

It gets better:

I've noticed with fantasy people have trouble understanding the concept of would-be tyrants creating crises so they can offer the solution. We see popular Hollywood films peppered with this idea. For example:

In the blockbuster, The Incredibles, the evil genius, Syndrome, wants to be worshipped as a super hero, so he stages a robotic attack on a US city which he plans to then foil and become the people's savior.

In the film, Final Fantasy, a General who wants to be given dictatorial powers opens the gates so the enemy can attack New York and then discredit his peacenik opponents.

There are countless examples of this, and I've noticed that when I talk to adults who have seen these films they don't understand the plots. But, when I talk to children they completely grasp it.

Alex Jones admits being a man who watches the Incredibles and then lectures the children about how "true to life" it is. Thanks, Alex.

So true!

It has been really busy this weekend, now is actually one of the few times I can post.

Had a missing person last light that fell into the water in our lower pool... The divers never did find him... God hope he doesn't become a floater anywhere near this place! So far I am batting 1000 (3 for 3) for finding crap (no offense to the deceased  ) like that at this place!

What is it about non-swimmers not wearing PFD's? It must be the allure of the fish? There is fish in them dare waters!

In Austin, Texas, anything is possible.....

Alex Jones basically owns the public access station here. He's on channel 15 at least a couple hours a day talking about this stuff. And stoners call in and praise him for "broadening their minds" (along with pot, I guess).

The best ones are the people that have the "protect the environment" stickers on their car as there flicking their cigarette butt out the window.

355794

Or the ones that have "protect the environment" or "no blood for oil" as they drive an SUV.

Sorry, Aussie...I just had the mental picture, in general (actually, the mental image was quite funny). If we are ever in the same place at the same time, I'd be happy to buy your rack of lamb and Merlot. and I'm not a bad dancer.

That was funny. I love lamb. And C&W dancing in red boots is awesome.

I've noticed that if you see a car that has more than two or three bumper stickers on it, they are usually liberal-themed. Do this the next time you are driving around: Spot a car with lots of bumper stickers, get a little closer and see if they are lefty bumper stickers. My research over that past weeks tells me that 75% of the time they are lefty liberal things..

What is it about liberals and their damn bumper stickers? Is it because their philosophy can be containted in short phrases? And why is it that lefties feel they need to advertise their anti-(insert right wing policy here) stance on the back of their car? Could it be that the righties aren't creative enough to come up with catchy phrases that can sum up their political beliefs so succinctly?

I know you all know what I mean. There's the "bake sale for a battleship" one, the various greenpeace ones, the myriad of anti-Bush ones, etc. Often times you'll see Phish window art to complement the liberal bumper stickers. What's the deal with that? Are all Phish fans liberal?

There's also the "Support our Troops" ribbon things, which are really magnets. The magnets, IMHO, signify a much weaker dedication to supporting our troops than a stick-on product. The stickers are much more permanent, and show a REAL dedication to whatever cause you choose to display on the back of your car.

Anyone else notice this? Damn liberals and their bumper stickers! Friggin ruining america and polluting the thoughts of anyone who is close enough to read them.

355514

Not always. But there is one way to weed through the myriad of sticker art on one's car in order to quickly gauge his/her political leanings:

Sticker of Calvin peeing on something: Conservative

No sticker of Calvin peeing on something: Liberal

During the election, I considered for a moment putting my "Libertarian for President: Michael Badnarik" sticker on my car...then decided I didn't want to screw up my car with a candidate that has no shot in hell and didn't need any peace loving liberals keying the crap out of my paintjob

sticking anything on cars just doesn't seem right...when my kid brings home an honor roll sticker, that's going on the fridge or my wife's car

SUPPORT MAKERS OF MAGNETIC RIBBONS!

355601

I appreciate the emotion, but if you mount them, take them off occasionally (I wore a paint chemist's hat for several years) and make sure the mount area is waxed with contemporary products.

They differentially mask overall vehicle UV sunlight exposure and aging (more pronounced on darker shades), and trap water vapor beneath them, which will cause clearcoat swelling (most all colors, solid color or metallic use a two coat base/clear water-base acrylic coat paint process these days - the solid alkyd melamine finishes and one-coat metalics are no longer used by the factories). Clearcoats have excellent UV resistance and mar resistance, but can be poor performers when faced with water vapor's unshared pair of electrons.

If you allow them to reside over time without taking care, you will have a permanent impression in the finish.
