Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid gave his thoughts on ESPN’s Week 11 edition of Monday Night Football being moved from Mexico City to Los Angeles.

 

“We’ll be there, we are going to show up,” Reid told reporters during his Thursday conference call. “We are playing there, so let’s get ready to play against a great football team.”

 

Reid didn’t seem too caught up in where Monday’s game would be played, saying the schedule switch up just means the matchup with the 9-1 Rams will resemble more of a true road game.

NFL Week 11 questions: Is Monday night's Chiefs-Rams Game a Preview of Super Bowl LIII?

 

One fascinating matchup highlights Week 11, but there are plenty of storylines to sort through — including first place in a division totally up for grabs.

 

Here are the key questions for Week 11.

 

1. Who will win the midseason Super Bowl?

The Rams and Chiefs, two of the best teams and most potent offenses, square off Monday night in what could very well be a preview of Super Bowl LIII in February. Both teams are 9-1, making it just the fifth time since the 1970 merger that teams with one loss or fewer meet this late in a season. The Chiefs rank second in the NFL in scoring offense (35.3 points a game); the Rams rank third (33.5). Two of the game’s top young passers in Patrick Mahomes — who ranks first in yardage (3,150) — and Jared Goff — who ranks second (3,134) — will battle for the first time in their careers. Skill position players like Todd Gurley, Tyreek Hill, and Travis Kelce figure to be big. But this game might come down to the defense that limits more explosive plays than the other. That edge might go to L.A., which has been better and is tied for ninth in the league with 26 sacks.

 

2. Will moving Monday's game to Los Angeles affect either team?

The other storyline in this game was the NFL’s decision Tuesday to relocate it from Mexico City’s Estadio Azteca due to poor field conditions. Because it’s scheduled as a home game for the Rams, it’s being moved to the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. The Rams had just arrived in Colorado Springs on Monday to train for the altitude they were expecting in Mexico City. The team will stay there and practice throughout the week, so even though they’ll play at home Monday night, this could have a bit of an away game feel for them. For the Chiefs, not much changes other than their eventual destination — though it’s more than likely that the crowd in the Coliseum will be predominantly favoring the Rams. Unless any Chiefs fans who were planning on making the trip down to Mexico City can change their travel plans, expect a lot of blue and gold.

Not far behind:  RBs who can pick up blitzes.

 

That was one of the reasons I liked him as I stated in multiple posts while he was here.  His opposite, not so much.

I won a tape of that game in a raffle. I think it was on the Bills bus to Hall of Fame for Jimbo or Thurman.

At the minimum the stadium should be able to put game on big screen but I know NFL dislikes this due to complaints from network partners.

I made it 3 weeks w/o drinking water in Mexico City, then one day I ordered a salad with dinner, something I don't normally do.  Montezuma's revenge hit hard that night.   I was working in the Federal District and I stayed at the Embassy Suites Mexico City - Reforma.    Out of 3.5 weeks  I was there I saw the mountains tops circling the city maybe 4 times. 

 

also... if you are a native of  Saddle Hill City Mexico

 

or a long time worker there you can get conditioned to the water and whats in it.

-- Marcus Peters' showdown with the Chiefs.

 

KANSAS CITY CHIEFS: Ford feeling fine with surgically repaired back. Chiefs pass rusher Dee Ford is tied for third in the NFL with 9 sacks and is tied for second in quarterback hits with 20. He told me recently that he has "caught people off guard" this season because of how quickly he recovered physically from spine surgery, which he underwent last year, mainly because of the magnitude of the surgery, which Ford described as something most guys don't come back from. He also revealed that it wasn't his first back surgery.

 

"A lot of people don't know that I had my first procedure in 2011 in college and came back and (coaches were) blown away when (they) saw me healthy," Ford said, of his return to the field from season-ending microdisectomy surgery to repair a herniated disc in his back while at Auburn. "So I knew the second time around, I'm even smarter this time around in how I process, train and take care of my body. I knew it would be the same result all over again."

 

Ford says the issues with his back should not return, and he feels as healthy as ever. Good news, considering he's currently in a contract year. Ford is loving his time in Kansas City right now, but he doesn't have a clue where he will be after this season, when his rookie contract will run out.

 

"I'm enjoying the process, and the results will take care of itself," the former first-round pick told me. "This is sports, so if it calls for me to be somewhere else, it is what it is. If I'm here, I'm here. Change is inevitable, so it's a business, and I'll be ready for whatever situation."

 

If he keeps playing the way he's playing, he should be rewarded handsomely, wherever he lands.

Chiefs not sweating Peters revenge game. The offseason trade that sent cornerback Marcus Petersfrom Kansas City to the Los Angeles Rams left many people wondering how the Chiefs' defense would fare without a two-time Pro Bowl cornerback. The way Peters has played this season -- a year in which he's been repeatedly burned by opposing wide receivers -- has made several of those same onlookers think the Chiefs got the better of that deal, which landed them a fourth-round pick in last year's draft and a second-rounder in 2019. Now the Rams and Chiefs will line up against each other in a meeting of 9-1 teams on Monday night.

 

One thing the Chiefs believe is that it doesn't matter how Peters has played until this point. He'll be ready, and so will they. "He has seen all of our stuff and knows what we do," said Chiefs head coach Andy Reid. "We have seen him. You just end up going and playing, then. He plays, we do our thing and see what goes on there."
