lbj, civil rights and the dixiecrats

I can't believe gaytor and birddog haven't had to have their stomachs pumped from sucking so much of each others roosters.

sure. you never see agreement, support and coordinated attacks from the cons here...

So, voting against the Civil Rights act of 1964 can be nuanced. Got it. Like what the meaning of "is" is.

it was an incorrect vote. but he voted correctly other times including the voting act. on balance, he was much more progressive than Thurman or byrd. admittedly not saying much but it was the time and place for scumbags.

...Uh, he was dead. Not from a botched surgery though.

uh, he wasn't dead when he was her supposed "friend and mentor". she almost certainly felt she had something to gain from him and her relationship with him. she's an opportunist what pol except folks like bernie isn't?

You don't see the hypocrisy inherent in HRC calling a known Klan leader her friend an mentor while the left launches attacks on Trump for being supported (not supporting) by David Duke?

HRC's words are there for you to listen to. Byrd's abysmal (and racist) voting record is also there for you to see.

Hypocrisy is politics?? Say it ain't so Joe??

Gees, if every one tried to be pure as an angel nothing would ever get done. Grow up, please

That wasn't the question. I asked if you recognized the hypocrisy in attacking Trump for being supported by a KKK leader (something you've done a few times) while HRC (the candidate you're for) outwardly fawns over a KKK leader, calling her a friend and mentor? Trump is full of shite and denied knowing who Duke was, but he was never calling the guy his friend or mentor.

Of course to answer this question requires you to be honest. The one thing you've continually demonstrated on this board, aside from ineptitude, is dishonesty -- which is why you didn't answer and ran away from the issue entirely.

You see no difference from someone who still believes that KKK stuff and a person who renounced it? And to go further, Trump is supported for what he is saying. No way is Hillary in any way tied to Byrd for his past. That's a stupid link.

That wasn't the question I asked you. And if you bothered to look into Byrd's record while he was an elected official you'd know how shallow his "renouncement" was. Stop trying to change the subject.

I asked if you recognized the hypocrisy in attacking Trump for being supported by a known KKK leader compared to HRC fawning over a KKK leader who carried his overt racism over to his legislative career. Hillary, in her own words when there was nothing for her to gain politically (the guy was dead), called one of our country's most celebrated racists her mentor and friend. Doesn't that carry more weight than David Duke throwing his support to Trump?

Why, what was Byrd's record??

So, not only won't you answer the question, you are admitting you haven't done enough of your own research to even reach the conclusion you exclaimed earlier. Got it.

That being the case, why should anyone take anything you say in regards to this topic seriously? You've proven time and time again that you say and post things without understanding what you're saying or reading what you're posting. How do you think this reflects upon you?

Nope, no research!

If you don't do any of your own research, where do you get the information that forms your opinions? I ask because you come across as being dug in an many positions that when pushed on you demonstrate no real understanding of. What's your go-to method for informing yourself?
