... http://jimmorrisonandthedoors.homestead.co..._Gravesite.html ... anyone ever visit a famous gravesite ? ... I'd like to see Jim Morrisons, Stevie Ray Vaughns, Jimi Hendrixs ...

I was there (Jim Morrison's grave) in August of 2004. The grave is nothing like it used to be. The bust is gone (it was stolen). The graffeti is all gone and the grave is almost as non descript as any other in the cemetary. The grave wa roped off so that you could not come closer than about 5 feet away and there was a gaurd stationed nearby to prevent people from going past the ropes. It was still cool, but I had seen all the pictures and heard the stories of the site and made it a "must see" on my trip to Paris, so was a bit disappointed with how "sterile" it was.

in Paris you can pass two days just visiting graves... at the Invalides for all the military guys (first of all Napoleon's) and at the Panthenon for the civilians ... (Hugo, Jaures...), and if you're in France for a few days go at the cemetary on the Normandy's beaches of course

In the US i saw a few famous graves, all the great ones at Arlington (JFK...), i saw General Lee's in Va, and the place that gave me the more thrills :the Gettysburg cemetary, where Lincoln made his famous speech.

Can't think of his first name but the famous heavyweight boxer whose last name is Sullivan was buried where I lived in Belfast, NY. I was in that cemetary on occasion walking the dog. I also happened to have a distant relative buried in the same cemetary.

My wife's mom lives very close to Westwood Memorial Park. In there you can find the gravesites/memorials for:

- Marilyn Monroe

- Dean Martin

- Buddy Rich

- Natalie Wood

- Mel Torme

- Heather O'Rourke

- Frank Zappa

among many others.

The most interesting thing, was on Dean Martin's memorial (he was creamated), his stone was covered in lipstick lip prints!

I also spent quite a bit at Arlington National a number of years ago.
