Would we swap 1st rounders with NE* for Mallett?

I wanted Mallett a few years ago. however the bills passed on him multiple times starting in the 2nd. Nothing diff now that would appear to cause the bills to change their mind on him of they couldn't pull the trigger on a 3rd for him

Aside from the HC and OC. Chan wanted a mobile guy like Newton, Mallett obviously doesn't fit into that mold.

I really like Okafor. Smart, sudden, and great hand use. He'd be the heir apparent for Mark Anderson should he be unable to stay on the field. Anderson has had more knee surgeries than sacks in the last year.

Dysert is RD4 on my board, so DE, QB, LB, QB, CB, WR would make the most sense if we took difference-making DE in the first.

Using DraftTek Simulator, that would be

  1. Alex Okafor DE43 Texas

  2. Tyler Wilson QB Arkansas

  3. Chase Thomas OLB34 Stanford

  4. Zac Dysert QB Miami (OH)

  5. Leon McFadden CB San Diego State

  6. Josh Boyce WRF TCU

This report was produced using Draft Tek's Draft Simulator: WWW.Drafttek.com.

That looks pretty close to a perfect draft in my eyes :)

I agree. RD1 should be BPA on the defensive side of the ball, and should affect pass rush, but be a contain-the-run guy. The QB should come next, and RD3 should be a sideline to sideline LB. There are several QB types that could run Hackett's scheme, not just Nassib.

Flip-flopping RD1 and RD3 could work. Take the best run-stopping LB you can get (Ogletree or Minter, IMHO), then QB, then DE or CB in RD3...the though here is that CB affects the pass rush too, with coverage sacks.

44 Ryan Nassib QB
58 E.J. Manuel QB

What?! Did you not see how good EJ Manuel looked and how bad Ryan Nassib looked at the Senior Bowl? Nassib was clearly shaken and outmatched among the nations best rookie class. Manuel was the only QB who was calm and didn't spit the bit.

Nassib shouldn't even be in the top 100 and Manuel should at least be in the top 25. IMO, he's the best QB of this class and is even better than Smith, Barkley and Wilson.
