Defend Greece Posted August 8, 2011 Share Posted August 8, 2011 This.... and that is why he struggled for the first half of the season including missing some preseason. Why are there so many people who think Byrd had a down year? Is it just because of the int numbers? I say that 3 ff, 2 fr, a pick 6, a sack, and better tackling was almost as good as his year before. Also the ints could have gone down because of gameplanning against him. Two of my favorite plays last year were when hillis tried to hurdle him and got the hammer (and fumbled) and when he took the ball away from mendenhall, like stealing candy from a baby. Spiderweb Posted August 8, 2011 Share Posted August 8, 2011 Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't the Tampa Two (the 2009 defense) made for ball hawking safeties? That could be why, the move to the 3-4 hurt his numbers. I would tend to agree that he was aided by Tampa 2 style secondary play, but he still had to be in the right place and that's part of how INT's are made. Give the guy credit! Learning a new defense, that it seemed no one else on the Bills learned last year either may well have contributed to his lower production along with his nagging groin injury.I Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
