How about sharing the blame? Where does it say that the people in the exit row were approached? Based on this one side of the story it wouldn't surprise me if they did not ask. I have a hard time believing that they weren't aware of what was going on when they saw a 6'9 person being escorted off the plane. They don't necessarily need to be asked - they can volunteer, too.
