Hate to say it, but the WORST roads I have ever driven on were in and around Norfolk this past July on my way back from the Outer Banks. They were so bad, I emailed and complained to VDOT when I got home. Without question worse than any post-winter pothole infested road in WNY. NO tolls is great, but if it means every gets to beat the s*$t out of their cars, I'm not sure that's the answer.

As for the comment about liberal democratic votinf problems in NY, that's an easy idealist, rhetorical pronouncement not founded in any fact. Chew on this.... the Taylor Law, NYS's horrible law that handcuffs government in its dealing with state unions and their pensions and benefits and remains a major, costly problem was passed in the late 1960s under a REPUBLICAN Governor. I don't know who controled the state senate and house but governors have veto power so he could have vetoed it, so stop with the blaming all that's wrong with this state on democrats and democrat voter. This mess is the result of years and years of Albany corruption and indifference to the citizens of this state and each party is dult to blame. George Pataki, a Republican, was in office the 12 years prior to Spitzer/Patterson and he gets no blame? The bottomline is, people should stop playing their side of the aisle and trying to blame the other party and buy a mirror and ask yourself what your party has done to make it better if the other party has only made it worse. Remember, problems don't happen over night, just like this current recession, which is the result of the last 30 or so years of reducing regulations on businesses and the financial industry and look where its got us. Anyone expecting one president to reverse the course of this in 2 years or even one term is an idiot. You don't stop a runaway freight train that took 5 miles to reach top speed in a half mile.

Really? Name one state predominantly ran by democrats that is doing well? I live in North Carolina and it's had a major influx of "Northerners" move here. The same that's happened to Florida and why it's dying a slow financial death. They are from NY, PA, Ohio, Michigan, etc. Well we are driving the people born here nuts because the Northerners have come down here and voted for the same type of policies that have ruined the states we came from. Hello.

I went through a toll booth on 90 to pay my toll. I removed my seatbelt to get some change out of my pocket and when i took off a state trooper popped out from behind the toll booth told me to pullover and gave me a ticket for no seatbelt. The way the !@#$ was acting i thought i was pulled over for murdering somebody. SO watch yourself the states broke and there taking it out on us.

My wife had the same thing happen to her but she didn't unbuckle the seatbelt she just pulled down the shoulder strap so the judge just gave half the fine.

If you're going to turn this political you should probably get your facts straight otherwise you just look really really stupid. The vast majority of highway funding comes from the Federal government not the States. Go look at the results of highway funding under the EIGHT years of the Bush administration, four of which he could have pushed through massive highway initiatives if he wanted to.

If you think bad government is the sole property of Democrats then you need to turn Rush off.

Here's an insider tip: neither party really gives a **** about cutting spending. They just want to control the spending.

Oh and one more tip, if you vote for an incumbent this year (regardless of party) then you're an idiot.

LOL. This thread is a gem.

Calling cops pigs, hillbilly southerners looking to start another civil war with the evil North, and Mike in Syracuse playing Forum Avenger as usual, dropping some sweeeeeet politics pro-tips on us.

Three thumbs, way up.

Or live in a state that doesn't charge you money to drive on their interstates (Yeah, imagine that). Although, as far as tolls usually go, the thruway isn't all that much money, especially compared to the cowpath, construction infested joke, that is the PA Turnpike. Pennsylvania should actually pay you money to drive on that road, not the other way around.

try N.H.I93 is free for the most part and we dont have a lot of police up here anyways and no sales tax

Sorry, I think he had it right the first time, outdated or not, sure there are great cops out there,

that would risk their lives for you in a heartbeat, and those guys should be commended, but this wasn't

one of them, when he pulled **** like this.

And you don't think he was told by his commanding officer that was his job for the day? These guys don't randomly do seatbelt checks just for the fun of it.

My best friend is a trooper, and he hates speed patrols more than anything. He'd much rather spend his day responding to calls, but he does what he is told. If he comes back with 0 tickets for the day, the assumption is he didn't do his job.

If this guys seatbelt was off, it's not up to the officer to assume his intentions, that's for the judge.

Did you know that the NYSP use surveying crews on the side of the road and radio ahead speeders?

Yep, they wear the orange shirts and a few trucks with blinking lights.

They use that little tripod and you think they are just surveying

That is foolish reasoning on how to vote and unfortunately one you hear every year. Either vote for someone and do so with conviction or do not vote. It is not a game. The Bills play a game. If you want change, vote by going to it or not.

And that would help you "going to the Bills game" how, exactly? It doesn't matter what state you live in, if you are going to the Bills game, you are NY state.

Amen to that!

I lean a lot further to the right of center than to the left of it but I have to say that there is plenty of blame to pass around on both sides of the aisle.

Any incumbent that has served more than two terms should be ousted for creating this mess and definitely get rid of anyone that openly states they are a socialist. There are some that have even stated they are Marxist that are in Congress. That crap just needs to stop before our children are deprived of growing up like we did.

What a riveting political analysis. No reason to actually think. Just follow slogans!

Virginia. No tolls on Interstates. There are a few areas that have toll roads that are state routes, and they offer faster, direct routes as an alternative to crowded interstates, but the interstates are free of tolls.

Ehh...in central VA, from a practical standpoint, the local tolls across the James River are comparable to interstate tolls people are paying for work commute in upstate NY. There are thousands of people in the Richmond area that cross the bridges, use the downtown expressway, etc. every day and pay tolls. Yeah, no tolls on the interstate but I would rather there are tolls on that than the local tolls as I use the local roads more frequently. I don't live on the southside of Richmond but I hear the toll complaints from people that live there. In addition, VA will be placing a toll on the interstate between NC.

Pig? that's classy bud. Why don't you find something else to do. I put my life on the line everday for the citizens I'm sworn to protect. PIG= Pride, Integrity, Guts) Keep your opinion of Law Enforcement off a Buffalo Bills forum.

Well said Mike. I live close to Syracuse as well. So you obviously know about the garbage that goes on in the streets of that City.

The early days at "Rich Stadium" one could actually bring in a 1/2 keg of beer if he bought a ticket for it... My friends we are living in a police state, where working people are second class and unemployed welfare recipients live better than those working.. God Bless Obama!!!

Cover your ass, because each year, a little at a time, it's getting worse!!

Hello.

Ideologically the Democratic Liberal point of view seams wonderful.. However every state that embraces those beliefs inevitably becomes a "Welfare State", taxes become too high for business to operate at a profit and jobs are lost.. The Business tax base collapses and that burden is passed on to the remaining workers and home owners..

The Taylor Law in NYS makes it illegal for public service employees to strike, those workers have very little recourse dealing with unfair working conditions or contracts... It is obvious that the person who wrote the post that you responded to has tethered himself emotionally to an issue that he has no first hand knowledge!!!

I used to live in Rochester and own a 100k house. My taxes were 4500 a year. I know live in Charleston, SC which is like a resort compared to Rochester. My house is 260k and my taxes 1200. I love NY state, it is a beautiful place but years of liberal democratic voting has destroyed its economy.

Those who work and own a home have to pay for all those who don't... Socialism at its best!!
