The City The Bills Represent

For you out of towners - I figure I'd give you a small tour of the city of Buffalo. This post doesn't go beyond the city limits (Elmwood strip, Delaware, Main street and Anchor Bar) but this should give you an idea of how Buffalo is! Enjoy

Driving into Buffalo from Niagara Street you will see the new court house being build on the left. When it's finished it will be covered in silver glass panels. Is Buffalo going modern?!

As you drive in further - you will be in NIAGARA SQUARE - home of City Hall and the Taste Of Buffalo along with a bunch of other events. This is also where the Goo Goo Dolls played their huge July 4th concert which is on DVD.

This could be said to be a famous view in Buffalo, NY...

J.P. Losman knows...

The "Chip Strip" is the bar/club scene in Buffalo up ahead. The buildings on the left are condos and office space.

Lafayette Square is home to THURSDAY AT THE SQUARE - a weekly, local summer concert series.

Some buildings in Buffalo. The black one has a mall built inside of it - it sucks, though.

Here is Buffalos tallest building - HSBC tower. On the right, down the road you will see another famous Buffalo restaurant - Pearl Street Brewery. A hot spot before Sabres games!

A cool looking bank on Main Street. This is actually going to be featured in some new movie coming out starring Keanu Reeves. The movie was filmed in Buffalo in the summer of 2010. Apparently he robs the bank or something.

Electric Tower. At night this tower lights up Red and Blue... I think you know why!

Only if Main Street had an actual road. Main Street is dead because of the Subway rails.

Another look at Lafayette Square. The Building on the right is the building Bruce Almighty was on top of (or was supposed to be on top of) when he found out he was god.

Supposedly the worst place in Buffalo... the East Side. This street looks nice, though...

HSBC Arena on the waterfront

Just a random view of what you would expect inside Buffalo

NEW ERA. The rookies always go here to pick out Buffalo hats. I'm not really a hat person.

Bass Pro (thank god) isn't coming to Buffalo. We are still building Canal Side which is supposed to be a shopping center mixed with restaurants and bars.

Thank you for the pictures of my favorite city.

I was there for one week this summer. Besides visiting friends and family I went to the Taste of Buffalo, partied at Sunset Bay, toured Grey Cliff (Frank Lloyd Wright), visited Albright Knox Art Museum, hung out on Elmwood Ave (Lunch at Panos), went to Lewiston Art Park (saw an awesome Derek Trucks concert for free), and also went to the Italian Festival on Hertel.

Had a great time and will be back for the home opener.

You are from St. Louis?

That city looks like a bigger, modern version of Buffalo. Other than the weather (I'm cold weather) - St. Louis looks like a cool place to live.

Let's not forget the suburbs of Buffalo. I went to Hamburg High...wayyyyy back. Hamburg is a very nice town. I used to hang out in West Seneca, East Aurora, & Orchard Park as well. Then there was "The Lake"...the hot nite spot back in the 70's. The burbs of our city are awesome.

Orchard Park / Hamburg is a very nice area.

I love Buffalo and all - I just wish the buildings were a bit more compacted. The city in actual size is huge... except the buildings are so far apart. Buffalo resembles missing teeth - it could have been so dense!

nice ... what is the purpose of that put- down?, do we have to hear it from people we would assume to be buffalo friendly by the mere fact that they participate on here?.. dont you think we get it enough from everybody?, you must like being miserable.

The Black Building was the "Erie County Savings Bank" and "Main St. Mall". One of the top 25 Savings Banks in America at the end of the 70's.

The HSBC Tower was originally Marine Midland Bank back then.

Finally, the cool looking Bank building with the gold dome was "Buffalo Savings Bank", a top 20 Bank at the time.

When savings bank went retail in the late 70's and the real estate market tanked in the 80's, these banks and their new young liberal turks took unnecessary risks and went under. (talking about the savings banks). Back then I worked for the "Big E".

Thanks for the Pics.

I am from Buffalo. Grew up there. Went to college in Rochester (kind of a boring town). Live in St. Louis now which is a very nice town. Been a bunch of places in between.

Still LOVE Buffalo.
