I'm really pumped that I have an autographed 1987 Bills vs Eagles game program with Marv, Kelly, and Bruce who went on to become HOFers. Loving that big time. He was on the detail that was tasked with escorting the visiting teams from the Sheraton on Walden to the stadium on game day and then from the stadium to the airport. For that, the two cops used were given tickets to the game and a few bucks (cash usually). My dad used to use the money they gave him to buy me a ticket to the game (about half the time the visiting teams would just comp him the ticket.) As a result, I got to the games well before anyone else, even before the Bills players typically arrived. Sooooo, I we would hang out at the players entrance as they arrived and collect autographs. I have many of the greats of that era, including OJ, Fergie, Reggie MacKenzie, etc. I also met a number of opposing players of that era. The two that stand out are Ken Stabler and Joe Namath, both of whose autographs I have. Namath was great! He rode in his own limo, and my dad asked him for an autograph for me (I was far too starstruck to say anything) he said "Sure" to my dad and looked down at me with a great big smile, and grabbed the Bills logo on my coat and said "Where did you get that jacket kid?" Then he took me into his limo and we sat and talked about football, school, and such. He gave me his autograph and sent me on my way. Classy guy! BTW cornerBlitz, Does that inaugural game coin commemorate the actual first game at the stadium…the preseason game against the Redskins (aka the Duane Thomas/Herb Mul-Key Game)? A Peerless Price trading card from the first game at Buffalo after 9/11 that you can easily see me in the background. Both a TKO autographed authentic helmet and jersey A 4th AFC Champions pendant - story is by the 4th Championship, the Bills got to choose either a another ring or a pendant. It's from August 17, 1973 Bills vs Redskins ( Pre-season Herb Mul-Key KO return) I added an image of the flip side of the coin that shows the opponent and date of the game. I actually had the inaugural game program also, but I sold it to a guy after the game for 5 bucks. I was 12 y/o then and regretted it as soon as I said yes to his offer. What's the coolest Bills Nostalgia that you guys have? Some pretty cool stories/stuff mentioned here. I never had much interest in getting autographs, but I did keep a scrapbook I made when I was 9-10 years old for the 1968-1969 seasons. Newspaper clippings, program photos, stats....all crudely pasted and labeled into an aging old book. It's pretty funny looking back on my childhood and the earliest days of my Bills obsession.
