Now here's an idea to keep the Bills in Buffalo

Recommended Posts

Jacobs and Golisano seem like the only ones that could lead a team. They both have buffalo ties and enough backing.

Who says that it needs to be a buffalo business person. What would be wrong with having a Canadian owner? Toronto most likely has more billionaires than Buffalo. Just because someone is from Canada doesn't mean that they will want to move it there. The New Jersey Nets have a Russian owner he doesn't want to move it there.

"I'm not sure I agree with you a hundred percent on your police work, there, Lou…"

Moscow for instance is 8 hours ahead of New York which is 3 hours ahead of California. That's an 11 hour time difference between California and Moscow.

Besides that, Moscow is 4700 miles from New York City and 6100 miles from Los Angeles.

Even if said Russian owner wanted to move the team to Moscow, the league wouldn't let him.

So your reasoning...

The hermit miser in WNY you seek is named Bill Pummel. He's a billionaire who lives in his car in Jamestown's west side, not sure if he's a Bills or even a football fan but fits the bill otherwise.

Your hermit miser is fictional... so is Robert H. Prosser.

I won't divulge the name of the wealthy misfit who takes up residence on Oakland Place... he's so secluded even Forbes won't bother calling him. He goes back, way back, to the Pierce-Arrow days.

I agree that he may not be welcomed back into the NFL- no arguements there. I just think he is Jim Kelly's Ace in the Sleeve. Trump is a Bill fan. He and Kelly go way back. Now consider the the allure of a new stadium and casino located in The NY side of the Falls. . . . All irresistable things to the Donald.

I'll welcome anyone- regardless of their history- as a Bills owner as long as they promise to keep the team in Western NY

I will give you that I could see Trump pushing for a casino/stadium/hotel complex in the Falls. But keep in mind that The Donald is as much talk as he is action. He always talks big but doesn't always follow through. His mystique is somewhat fabricated from whole cloth, and enhanced by his TV show.

Pretty much anywhere would be an improvement from his perspective, but L.A. is the obvious answer.

And Trump's only favorite team is: Trump. Look what he did to his beloved Jersey Generals; he sunk the whole ship in an attempt to force the NFL's hand (which is probably the main reason he'd never be a candidate for ownership).

He is not a man to be trusted with your heart and soul.

L A ?, where?, no stadium and no real plans to build them. do you think the owners would just let trump waltz into L A?, highly doubt it. i think he would be humble enough to be part of the NFL fraternity, and smart enough to know he can make money in buffalo.

Yeah, you're right. The NFL owners would much rather keep a team in Buffalo and continue to negotiate network TV deals when there is no home team in the nation's #2 market.

And a "humble" Trump ( ) would certainly recognize that he can make more money in Buffalo than LA.

Some WNYers who can help:

- The "True Valu" butter churning guy

- The guy who owns Airport Plaza Jewelers

- Richard Piccoli

- the original host of American Idol (his name escapes me)

- the 20-something "hedge fund manager" from Cleveland who bought the mansions in Hamburg (from the family of the founder of Sorrento Cheese)

- Earl of Bud

- Mark Hamister

Git 'er done.
