Facebook Post From My Wife's Cousin

Recommended Posts

My wife's cousin is very left wing. Her father was from Norway so she believes in the socialist system. Well she's in Iceland now and posted this:

At least one European country has an effective solution to its financial crisis. Icelanders have bottled authentic volcano ash and are selling it (c. $6/ jar) in the duty free shops at Keflavik airport. Of COURSE I bought one : )!

And my response:

Interesting how a Socialist country is using Capitalist ideas to pull itself out of a fiscal crisis.

I may just get myself kicked out of that family yet.

Profit motive to help cure a financial woe. What? No filthy rich left to tax? As a devout leftist she must be ready to short out. "Doe's not compute!!" Like Himie The Robot on Get Smart.

As I always say it's much easier for a liberal to be a hypocrit than a conservative. Oh and it's Jaime.

OK, I'm confused. Is it easier for a liberal to be a hypocrite than for a liberal to be a conservative? Or is it more difficult for a conservative to be a hypocrite?

That's a really moronic response. You don't think they sell things in Socialist countries? The difference is that if the profit is going to the public good by paying down the debt, then it's a Socialist program i.e. being used for the benefit of society, as opposed to the Capitalist program i.e. an individual keeping all the profits for themself. So in the end your family is laughing at you.
