buffalobill43 Posted April 24, 2010 Share Posted April 24, 2010 As an actual UCF season ticket holder, I have to say Troup is a solid pick, yeah, maybe a little high for what the analysts were saying but he fills a major need. UCF was much like the Bills last year, horrible offense especially QB play but the D kept them in most games and Troup was the key cog in the middle. A love-or-hate type of talent whom some scouts see as strictly a pass-rush specialist. Evaluators who go back and watch Moses early in his career will be able to see beyond his average senior production. Similar to former Troy DE DeMarcus Ware, Florida State DE Kamerion Wimbley and North Carolina State DE Manny Lawson, all of whom fit into the first round but elicited widely divergent grades from scouts. Moses fits the bill as a rush linebacker or finesse speed rusher and is too smart, too athletic and has been too productive in a big-time conference over the span of his career not to develop into a solid pass rusher in the pros. Today Quentin Moses is already with his 3rd team and has 1.5 career sacks. These "expert" opinions/rankings need to be taken with a grain of salt. He isn't a pass rusher, he takes up space so LB's can attack. Troup is the best in this draft, yes even over the over hyped cody, at doing just that. So this front office so far has taken the most explosive player in the draft and the NT for our needs in the draft. Must be a bust then..... Well this immediately makes him an f'n retard for the bills 2nd rounders last year (Byrd and Levitre) are considered failed picks according to him. Is a probowler and a solid starting guard not good enough for you? If they are going to reach, why don't they trade down for more picks. Troup could have been had in the third round and we could have gained another pick by trading down. The Bills rarely get good value out of their picks. Just watch, in the third round they will reach for a prospect they could have had in the fourth or fifth round. My honest opinion is if we don't trade Whitner or Lynch for an extra early round pick with good value that fills a legitimate need, this draft is a bust and will receive a poor grade. I mean even Detroit and Oakland are doing well in this years draft. This could be the defining draft that shows that the Bills front office really has no clue. The Bills really are the laughing stock of the league. Outside of Jacksonville's first round pick, the Troup pick is the biggest reach so far in the draft based on what was still available. you read to many draft magazines. give these players a chance Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

But a guy like Nawrocki who spends countless hours studying tape and talking to coaches is way more qualified to render an opinion than some jamoke on TSW who reads ESPN's website for an hour and thinks he's Bill Polian. FWIW, here's what he says about Troup: "The most pivotal piece of a 3-4 defense is the nose tackle, and with the Bills making the conversion to an odd front, they needed a bigger, more stout centerpiece than Kyle Williams. Troup has the sheer mass, power and press strength to hold the point and occupy space and should immediately be able to factor into the Bills' defense on first and second downs."
