Meh... even though Chan Gailey is an extremely uninspiring choice (maybe 10 years ago), I would still take him over Rivera.

No. A very good career followed by one not particularly good game doesn't exactly scare me off.

 

Rivera would be a great candidate, (Grimm and Fiedler too) but it looks like that boat has sailed.

I would take Mariano Rivera over Chan Gailey at this point.

The 2006 Chicago defense was terrifying.

 

Since Rivera left, not so much. They've suffered injuries, etc., but I'm just throwing it out there.

 

I also think you underestimate the SD defense. I think they're better than you make them out to be.
