  1. 1. Bills in Super Bowl

    2. Bills in Post Season

    3. Bills regular season

    4. Everything else

Yep. There is just nothing that compares, and I don't even think I'm some super hardcore fan. I like to watch football, but I would rather watch a regular season Bills game, than a Super Bowl with any other teams involved. My emotional connection with the Bills, will always make their games more compelling to me than any other games.

  2. Schiano has taken a lot of crap, but the fact is his team was down by one score or less both times they pulled that stunt. For the same reason nobody throws a pity-party when a team runs a fake-spike, there was nothing unsportsman like about trying to squirt one free when you have a legitimate shot of winning with the ball in your hands.

It's not the same thing as a fake spike.

It's pretty obvious that Schiano is a jerk (http://sports.yahoo.com/news/nfl--buccaneers-coach-greg-schiano-regarded-as-bully-around-nfl-well-before-kneel-down-incident-20120921.html). It's also obvious that some people here find that kind of behavior appealing. It's unnecessary, and there have been plenty of great coaches that have been successful without being jerks, so why someone admires acting like that, or feels it embodies some kind of "fighting spirit" is beyond me.

  3. Are you smoking crack?

Moorman had one bad kick today,a product of them intentionally trying to kick away and out of bounds from Cribbs most of the game. The kick Cribbs returned for 30 something yards, drove him back about 15 or 20 yards...

Moorman has been booming punts all year, find something else to complain about please

Are YOU smoking crack? He kicked poorly today, and his shanked punt came at the absolute worst time.

  4. He isn't like Thurman. He is more of a home run hitter, and a bit less of a grinding back. He isn't quite the receiver that Thurman was either. But that home run potential is just so intimidating to defenses. It's exciting to have a player like Spiller on the roster finally! I don't feel the leadership quality from CJ that Thurman had, yet. But this game actually might bring that leadership forward. It was such a loss not having him out there, that it might give Spiller more juice in the locker room.

CJ is a potential Hall of Fame back. He is that good.

  5. I'm a bit worried about handling the Patriots when they'll obviously be playing with a chip on their shoulders after losing two in a row on the last play of the game, especially without the benefit of having our two biggest offensive playmakers. On the plus-side for us is the fact that Patriots offensive tackle Nate Solder should be suspended for several games for kicking a player in the head, Aaron Hernandez is out with an injury, and the game will be played in Buffalo.

If we are going to win, I can't stress enough how important it will be for us to get a two score lead early, and let the crowd take over the game. Another important aspect will be for our young team to play incredibly physical, but to stay under control. Penalties, especially on defense, will kill us. We can't give a motivated Tom Brady extra chances to pick our young secondary apart. Thirdly, the Patriot defense is young at several crucial positions in the front 7. Our offensive line needs to punch them in the mouth and dominate them, stealing from them their willingness to play and their ability to compete. Lastly, we need good Fitz to show up. We cannot turn the ball over at all and expect to win this game. If we can manage to do these four things, we have a much better than 50% chance of walking off the field with a "W".

They were "playing with a chip on their shoulder" this week! They lost. It can't go on forever, they are still good, but they have some serious weaknesses too. I can't stand the attitude of Bills fans that are scared of the Pats because it makes me think the team is thinking the same way, Eff that team! The Bills are trying to maximize their own potential, regardless of the opponent.

  6. I think what the OP was implying is that VY is a better option as a back up then Thigpen. I mean lets face it neither one of them is great, but one of these not so great QB's can actually hit a WR in full stride 60+ yds downfield. Also, one of these not so great QB's can run for a 1st down, even knocking defenders out of his way sometimes. Neither one of those guys is Thigpen. I could be wrong but I believe if we cut Thigpen tomorrow no one would be rushing to sign him either.

Yes, but the wager wasn't directed to the OP, it was to another that insinuated that VY has something to offer, and that the Bills made a mistake in letting him go. I disagreed, and pointed out that the rest of the NFL agrees too.

  7. OR maybe the game plan dictated that they run more against KC. Maybe they would have run more against Jets if they wouldn't have fallen behind and Defense would have made some stops. Maybe just maybe they planned on running more. I was completely pissed when Fitz ruined those drives by pulling the ball down and running for first downs. He's an idiot for doing that and what a crappy decision maker. Those last resort passes to Chandler and Stevie for TD's were purely a product of a clock being right twice a day. This guy Fitz is a complete jerk for embracing the Buffalo community, being accountable for himself and his play, having the respect of his teammates and busting his butt to win every week. I think we should all turn on this jerk of a neighbor, good father, husband, leader and football player. He's ridiculous. I totally can't stand him throwing for almost 4000 yds with broken ribs and never making an excuse last year. I thought it was just swell when we would have a 300 yd. passing game every 12 or 13 games. This guy Fitz is an idiot. He stinks. We need to all turn on him and waste our time complaining about him. Who needs guys like this on our team. We definitely should have drafted RG3 or Andrew Luck with a draft pick we didn't have. OR maybe we should have given up a couple of number 1's for a veteran guy like Carson Palmer. These scenarios really are plausible and make sense. I am very thankful that there are posters that have inside knowledge of what Coach Gailey is thinking and that he has told Fitz he is inadequate as a leader of men and as a QB. Thus they have decided to turn to that long lost , deceptive art of running the ball b/c we have nothing better than a department store mannequin as QB. Thanks for setting me straight so now I know what it means to be a real fan. I am grateful.

What are you talking about? Unload on someone else...

  8. You are right. Fitz is struggling to complete a high percentage of passes. And despite those struggles, the Bills are leading the league in TDs.

I'd rather have our problems than the problems of teams struggling to find the endzone

It only been 2 games, and one was a blowout loss.

Are TDs scored by running worth half? Then who cares how we keep drives going?

    PTR

I don't care if they can keep winning, but they are on a winning streak of one.

  9. This can really work with a third back like Choice. Work the sidelines with Chandler/dickerson. -No balls in the air for more than 10/12 yards. -SJ13 may mind the resulting lack of meaningful stats.

I got the feeling SJ wasn't thrilled with the way the offense is performing. I think he knows it's going to be mostly running plays. He will just have to make the best of his opportunities, like he did against the Chiefs.

I am curious if Tarvaris Jackson is getting more work these days. I'm sure he must feel like he might get an opportunity at some point. Hopefully this inspires him. I don't know if he is better than Fitz, but he can throw the long ball. In a run first offense, TJ may work better than Fitz, because if they start crowding the line to stop the run, TJ can get the ball deep, and can certainly throw the short passes as well as Fitz (erratically!)

  10. I don't want CJ to have to carry the load all season long. I think that when FJ returns there will be plenty of touches for both of them. Fitz blows without a great running game, so if Gailey is smart, he will let BOTH backs share the load. Should CJ get more carries than FJ? Probably, but the amount of running this team needs to do will take both backs performing at a high level.

CJ would be way too worn out by the time the playoffs arrive if he has to carry this team on his back alone.

  11. To be clear, when I say "all in" I'm not just referring to his contract - it's the fact that they haven't drafted or acquired anyone to develop behind him. I suppose they may view Tarvaris Jackson as that guy, but I'm not sure - they may view TJ as a capable backup, not a potential starter.

What would I have done? I would've drafted or acquired a QB at some point in the last three years who could actually be developed to play the position. Not gonna beat the Russell Wilson (or Kirk Cousins) dead horse (although I loved RW heading into the draft last year). There have been others. They could've drafted Mallet, they could've picked Andy Dalton. Hell, they could've gone "all in" and traded a boatload of picks for RGIII and you know what? I think that as crazy as that would've been, they would at least have fixed their QB problem for the next decade.

Nix and Gailey's tenure will be defined by Fitzpatrick. They have no other alternatives and they've chosen it that way for themselves. If he doesn't turn it around, they're careers here are finished, and neither of them is likely to obtain the same heights (head coach, GM) ever again elsewhere.

I don't think Dalton stood out anymore than Gabbert, Mallett (who had serious personal issues) or anyone else, and I don't think Dalton is even that good anyway.

If they were going to draft a QB, it had to be 2010 or 2011, I don't think they believe that they had the option of drafting a guy this year (being year 3), because they have to win this season. I'm not saying it was best for the long term success of the Bills, but I understand why they hitched the wagon to Fitz.

  12. I was looking through the Polian drafts, and they aren't that impressive, but they sure knew how to acquire players. Leonard smith, Steve Tasker, Pete Metz, Cornelius Bennett, James Lofton....Polian made it happen!

Somehow, I can't accept that the players the Bills have chosen were so much less talented than every other team for the last 12 years or something. It's the culture, and as has been mentioned, lack of a consistent identity and playing style.

A good QB would have helped immensely of course.

I agree with all of th OP however it's also just bad player evaluation. Do you really think that if Gailey and Nix thought Fitz was not a franchise QB, they would've gone all in on him like they have? Clearly they think he's The Guy. They've bet their jobs on it.

Are they right? Does anyone here think they're right?

I think they felt they had no other option. Trent was not it, and they needed to have success within 3 years (most would say that anyway) if they want to keep their job. If they drafted a QB, they had to have someone that could win right away, but they likely didn't feel there were any available (I think Chan really wanted Cam Newton, but he was out of reach). Then Fitz had that nice stretch at the start of last year, so they hitched up the wagon.

What would you have done? Even with hindsight, it's not really clear. Andy Dalton? Trade for Alex Smith? Kevin Kolb?
