  1. Good to know the season will be over before it started if Fitz goes down. Everyone keeps saying that the Bills could do no wrong this off season, most of the holes are filled, etc.. Well, I can tell you one thing, this team does not have a snowball's chance in Hell if a certain injury hits a certain player. Not addressing the QB position properly in the draft over how many years now could come back to bite em.....

Blah blah blah. This has been discussed MANY times. Almost EVERY contender would be screwed if their starting QB went down! You think the Giants would go win a Super Bowl without Eli Manning?

Young will get the job, it's a forgone conclusion...

i can think of many middle of the pack teams that dont know which guy is the starter (seattle for instance).

the jets would be a good candidate for this as well

Yeah, but if they are middle of the pack, it doesn't make much difference, does it? Their QB is likely a big reason why they are "middle of the pack...

  2. Yeah, esp. those 19 and 20 year olds in the military or in police forces. We should ban them from having guns. Do you think these punks had the guns legally?? If they didn't have a gun, they would have had a knife, etc. Or, used a beer bottle as a weapon as one of them did. Don't turn this tragedy into an anti-gun crusade. Movies, guns, etc. have nothing to do with what happened here. Want to bet that all the kids involved in starting the brawl had terrible parents, friends, and no common sense themselves?

Ah, but guns DID have something to do with it. 3 people were shot dead with a gun. The damage was definitely escalated by the involvement of a gun. Gunners are so worried about their gun rights that they will deny something as obvious as this situation. I'm not trying to take away your guns, but this was definitely an example of the bad side of gun rights.

  3. Tragedy, indeed. Dark sides of humanity can be so sad.

Guns do not kill people. Chuck Norris kills people.

If it would not have been a gun it would have been a knife or something else. I was not there but shirely, they would have got in to an altercation.

    Really?

Five people (3 dead) would have been injured if the attacker had been wielding a knife instead? I'm not necessarily a gun control advocate, but it's pretty obvious that a gun in this situation would cause more damage.

    PS. Don't call me surely...

  4. Does anyone here really think that when the Bills show up in Miami, their fans get particularly wound up? I don't. I think Jets and Pats fans get into it more, even if it's just to gloat.

    The Miami thing is over...

To qualify as a rivalry, the teams merely have to play against each other regularly. All the teams in the division qualify as rivals, even if they have kicked the Bills around for a long time.

  5. That's not what a rivalry is. That's a team running all over the Bills, sure.

Isn't that what made the 70's Dolphins the Bills rivals?

I realize there is a certain amount of one-upsmanship to this topic, a little bit of "oh, you newcomers don't understand the big picture", but I ain't buying it. Define rivalry however you want, but nothing will be more gratifying for me as a fan for 36 years, than to see the Bills beat out the Pats.

  6. For me it's going to be Miami and Brian Cox the player I'll remember the most. For NFC though I've always hated the Cowboys.

You could buy all 3 division rivals and go the Chan Gailey route. The biggest rival is whoever we play on Sunday.

Personally, I hate the Cowboys most. I still believe that the Herschel Walker trade was a conspiracy, and shouldn't have been allowed by the league.

  7. The Bills' current biggest obstacle is New England. The biggest rival is and always will be Miami.

Maybe to you, but to many, it's the Pats. I know about the 70's (I was there), but the current Pats have humiliated the Bills more than any other team in the Bills history, in my opinion. The Bills got some retribution against the Dolphins in the 80's and 90's. There has been none of that against the Pats since they got Brady.

  8.

Doesn't sound like his wife is even 2nd on his list...

“They want to portray it as though Kellen Winslow had a fraternity of football friends partying,” Watkins said. “But the house was rented for his wife, who was pregnant. She was living there with her mother and a housekeeper. There was no partying going on. Kellen was rarely even there.”

  9. The Packers let Nick Barnett go last year, and he was a pretty good late addition to our team.

Our current starting tight end, Scott Chandler, was also waived several times before landing on our team.

From what I understand, the biggest issue with Winslow is his contract. He also apparently got into it with the new coaching staff for not working out with the team in the offseason (a pretty standard issue for ex-Hurricane players).

He ALWAYS has issues. His dad was the same way. Some will say "I don't care, as long as he wins. Yay!", but his dad was loathed by teammates, and I would bet "K2" is as well. Look into their history, and you will find two self-important pricks. "K1" didn't just "play the race card", he walked around with it in his hand at all times.

  10. Because he is a conceited jerk?

I'd rather see the Bills give Dallas Clark a long look.

Seriously tho, I'm surprised Chandler ever see's the ball in Chan Gailey's offense. The TE is supposedly the QB's best friend and outlet, and yet previous to last season Gailey was noted for not utilizing the TE very often in his offense.

He really is a d***. No other player in memory has been so annoyingly douchey.

  11. The offense was fundamentally sound before injuries struck (i.e. the first half of the season, to which you referred). Depth appears to be much better this year. And with most of the same players returning this year and in the same scheme, adding stuff like this are what they should be doing. The problem that "most good teams" have is they don't have a backup QB with the ability to run and pass.

I think people are reading too much into the VY deal. I think he is a good backup, because he can be effective (short term) with a limited playbook. I don't believe that they want to use him much, and that they would much rather have Fitz lighting it up with a conventional offense.

  12. What happened to getting Fitz some weapons? We over reacted for Graham who is the only target drafted and wasted a 7th on him which could have gotten us BJ Coleman QB to develop and OT Levy Adcock with our last pick who as a Tackle could have been moved inside if he couldn't play outside. And with our 6th pick we could have Gotten Tommy Streeter WR 6'5" 215 4,40 - 40, who is raw but but has "Megatron" qualities that Nix talked about. He certainly has more upside and abetter shot to make the team than old Guard in Asper who probably could have been drafted with our last pick if they really wanted him.

You're right. They should all be fired! They are obviously DOOMED!

So what do you think this teams record is gonna be? I mean, it's easy to know after this draft, that they are gonna suck, so let's get it out of the way. What is your prediction?

  13. I think people need to remember that he's a UDFA. Instead of being so upset about getting this kid, understand that it's basically no risk for us. He looks like he might have decent upside, so why not check him out?

    No one wants to think.

I still expect someone here to complain that Brian Brohm never got a chance...

  14. That isn't covered even when he is. I mean that is what Nix said we were going to go after in the offseason right? Instead we draft a midget in the 3rd round with a 7th round grade. Didn't we have a guy like that in Parrish we let walk?

You can't always get what you want. But if you try sometimes, you just might find, you get what you need.

  15. Ok we can do that i think the word that comes to mind is value. Seems to me that from the second pick on we got players that were rated higher than where we picked them (except of course the WR in the third) but if you listen to Buddy and Chan they were pleased with who they got. To me the linemen we got not only provide depth (glenn may start from the get go) but also scheme versatility then can man more than one spot on the line Chix seem to really covet that. The two LBs are good players and can also man all three 4-3 spots again good depth and versatility the cb from lsu is a special teams ace as is Bradham the LB from FSU si I say we did well...hows that?

Looks good. So where do you think they need an upgrade the most now (aside from 1st QB)?

  16. I'm not a Fitz hater and to be honest I think we got good depth out of this draft with some early round guys who may contribute. But if you think That all the Pressure is not on Fitz your nuts. If Fitz struggles so goes the Bills. The defense is better equipped to keep us in games but all the pressure is on the rifle's shoulders period.

I am more interested in discussing positions other than 1st QB. I mentioned excluding 1st QB, because I don't want the thread to turn into another "Is Fitz good enough?" discussion, of which there are plenty already on this board.

  17. I think the Bills should bring back TO as the transitional #2 WR for Easley and/or Graham. He and Fitzpatrick had a great connection going before he left Buffalo and his "diva" days look to be long over. This team is ready for a real run and TO is my choice for the #2 guy to at least start the season in that spot...

“As far as health, I'm fine. I'm just looking for an opportunity." Owens said. "The Indoor League is quicker…it's faster than the outdoor game. It has enhanced my route running ability. If anything, I've benefited from, and noticed how quick coming in and out of my breaks I've become.”

Former Buccaneers linebacker Derrick Brooks, who now serves as the president and general manager of the AFL's Tampa Bay Storm, has scouted Owens and came away impressed.

I see humility and I see hunger. A lot of guys would not step back and play indoor football to prove to teams that they can still play," he said. "The hunger is still there. You can see it when he plays.”

    Bring him back Buddy!

He's done, and every team knows it. Maybe you will figure it out too, and stop mentioning him.

  18. Wide receiver was and still is a huge need. We have a lot of decent guys, but nothing special outside of Steve Johnson.

I wouldn't mind grabbing a veteran QB or two to compete with Thigpen for the backup spot.

Pretty sure we still need a backup center, in case Wood goes down again.

People keep saying we need a tight end, but that's just not a big position in Gailey's offense. I think Chandler is a good fit for what we need.

    And shockingly, that's about it.

I think we've got one starting position that isn't solid (imagine if we had gotten Meachem) and a couple places that could use some depth.

I'm not really one of those that clamors for a TE, but Chandler seemed pretty important last season. I know what the Bills say, but if they had a top shelf TE, I'm sure they could find a use for him.

  19. I'm surprised they didn't pick at TE yet... maybe last pick of 7th.

I'm good w/ WR... the Easley threads aside, Donald Jones is not ridiculous, very strong guy who still has upside. Nelson is pretty good. and between Graham, Clownley, Hagan, Aiken and Roosevelt pluse whatever UDFA they pick up there should be another 1-2 guys. We're not over the top, but we don't suck either.

Another Safety and real back-up Center would be nice...

I'm sure people will think "why mess with a good thing?", but I wouldn't have minded if they had drafted a Center that they thought could start, and move Wood back to guard/back up center, killing 2 birds with one stone.

  20. 2nd string QB, 3rd string QB. Those positions are both vacant for all practical purposes.

There were a lot of TEs that saw spot duty at the end of last season. I don't know if any are keepers.

I am not convinced that Tashard Choice and Johnny White can be relied on if Fred or CJ get hurt.

There are a lot of WRs on the roster. Quantity versus quality is a concern. Will Easley be any good? Nobody knows.

I don't know if 3rd string QB is gonna make the list of big concerns, especially when you consider that a team that is down to the 3rd string QB is pretty much done for the season.
