How the Bills might fit in the NFL this year
Geno Smith's Arm replied to sllib olaffub's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Actually, my goal is to have a team that is FUN to watch, and that means a good passing game (to me). And if they are fun, and have a good passing game, they will be on the path to at least accomplishing what you laid out. This team has been one of the most boring sports teams for many seasons now. Sure some will point to the Pats game last season, or the Dallas game (both losses), but even these are once a year. Most Bills games are a snore. -

The league rules have been slanted the past few years towards protecting the QB's and keeping the DB's off the WR's. Playing it safe with good defense and churning it out on the ground will get you some more wins (like 9-7, woo-hoo!), maybe get to the playoffs, maybe even fluke a playoff game. But it's not gonna beat the top teams, and it's not very much fun to watch. Yeah, some of the "bottom-liner's" out there love it, but I don't have a mustache. -

I have that "Choke Gesture Incident" burned into my memory. It wasn't so much that he made the gesture that bothered me, but the way he ran and jumped around on the sideline making the gesture. I live in LA, and have heard so many interviews with him, and he comes across well, but I just couldn't get it out of my head, and always viewed him as phony. As far as NCAA violations though, it's kinda a bad joke. It's rampant in college football. I know people will argue against players getting paid, and I don't have a solution, but the schools are really raking in obscene amounts of money. -
One "special" player in the front seven that can cause some havoc would make the players around him alot better. Two could could make this a top defense (of course finding them is easier said than done). On offense they need a a top flight QB and an above average LT and they would be pretty good. The LT should be alot easier to find than the QB though. And a good QB can stay around for a decade and keep the team competitve (and at least somewhat enjoyable to watch). There are many teams in the same boat.

Chris Kelsay speaks again....our new OLB
Geno Smith's Arm replied to BillsPhan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He seems to be doing a lot of interviews. Maybe he is trying to behave like an important part of the team, with the hope that it might make the coaching staff think he "brings something special to the table", or is somehow needed in the locker room. I hope he is cut.... -
why is CJ any better than reggie bush?

I'm not an idiot (haha). I just try to add a little drama to a post by using "bold" language. We are all Bills fans! We all want to see them do well, and we come here to voice our opinions on how they can improve, and to kinda vent the frustrations that can accumulate when following such a bad team. No big whup, very few people see these posts. -
Bills can create some nasty match-ups

These were exactly the kinds of things people were saying LAST YEAR. We have Owens, and Lynch, and Hardy and Evans and.... the problem is the QB, or rather the lack of a good one. -
It would seem strange for Seattle to get rid of a guy with off field problems, and then turn around and pick up different guy with many of the same kinda problems. I know Lynch has been better on the field, but it seems contradictory, and therefore unlikely that they would give the Bills much for Lynch even if they wanted him. But then again it's Pete Carroll, and he confuses me. I think if Lynch is traded, it will be to a team in a more desperate situation, like after an injury, or it becomes apparent to a team that a veteran is over the hill and they need help fast.

"Keep your friends close, and your enemies closer" Haha, I don't take any of this seriously. The problem is that a player's personality and attitude towards life affects his play. The players cash in on their carefully crafted image as well, so I think it is fair to connect the players on field play to their off field activities. You are obviously fond of Tebow for more than his on-field play. That's fine. I'm not throwing things at Reggie Bush, or attacking him in a parking lot, or calling his mother names or really having any effect whatsoever on his life. I wouldn't mind him on the Bills (I'm sure there are way worse guys throughout the league, many of which are better players). Jeez, I don't think he is a murderer, just a guy that hasn't realized his potential for reasons that I believe are more in his head than his body, which is what posters are comparing to Spiller's. I know that Bush has helped put USC into a bad spot (I'm aware there are loads of players getting payed in college), and he tried to screw over the agent that paid him and his family money. Not exactly "saintish". As far as Tebow, I had mentioned once that I thought he was a grandstander that plays up to his audience. I also said I think that his presence could cause some problems in the locker room if he isn't successful in the NFL. I think that will come to fruition. There has been some of that bubbling under already. Time will tell my "friend". -

Really? No one "humble" would become involved with a Kardashian in some kind of celebrity rag coupling. He is considered a selfish pr!k in LA. Many stories of his entitled behavior from people in the USC program. Just because he does charity work in NO doesn't mean he is a saint! He and Leinart, as well as many other recent USC guys, get the star treatment in Los Angeles, and surrounded by talent at USC, believe their own hype. -

Reggie Bush peaked in college. His problem isn't his size, or skill set, it's his head. He is a selfish, spoiled D-bag. Watch the interviews with Spiller. He comes across well, and has a humble vibe. I think he will be better than Bush. -
Levi Brown - odds stacked against him
Geno Smith's Arm replied to Coach55's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You guys do notice that that list cover's THIRTY YEARS. I wonder how many quarterbacks have been drafted in the later rounds (after the first three rounds) in all those years. I am also curious how long it took most of those guys to get any good. That's kinda critical when we are talking about say, another 5 seasons without strong quarterback play (Romo took what, 7 seasons before he won a playoff game, all the while playing for a team that has more resources, is a desired location for free agents, blahblahblah?) for a team that has already sucked for at least a decade. Yes, Levi might be pretty good in 7 years. I can understand your optimism! -
? The Bills have had a problem at QB for at least a decade. For me, that creates a little urgency. Enough urgency that if I really felt a guy had starter potential, though he was rated a late round pick, I would skip drafting some guys, that based on draft history, chart out to be backup linebackers, and pick the QB that I love so much in the 5 th round. Maybe that's panicking.....
-
YES! I think they are TERRIBLE PEOPLE! Lying, and cheating and saying nice things about the players they draft.
-
I'm not concerned about Levi. I'm concerned about not being able to enjoy watching the Bills for yet another season.
-
I liked the draft. But I don't believe that they are so high on Levi Brown, yet they would rate him a 7th rd pick. Yer Dreamin'.
-
I thought BJ Hobert was gonna be good too! Why? Because he had "Swagger", and he was "Butch"! hehehe....
-
Sorry man, my bad. What was I thinking? Actually I'm thinking much more clearly than anyone that thinks that any GM or Coach in a situation like the Bills have been in the last 10 years, would wait until the 7th round to pick a QB that they thought had a real chance to start in the future for their currently pathetic team. You disagree? Would YOU do that? You wouldn't even spend a 5th round pick on the guy you have hopes to be your future starter, and your team's QB's have blown for 10 years? Really, I would like to hear a logical answer to that. Sure the Patriots might have looked at the board and noticed that Brady was still around, and taken a flyer on him (that's what you do with your 6th, 7th round QB picks), but they likely thought that he MIGHT make a nice BACKUP QB someday, because he had some of the qualities that they wanted in a QB (tall, good leadership). THEY GOT REAL LUCKY. These Bills are a whole 'nother story. If the Bills had their eye on this guy the whole time but just let him sit there for any of the other QB desperate teams to pick him, they would have to be idiots. They took a flyer. I don't think they are expecting him to be the QB of the future, I think they hadn't picked a QB yet, and he was the highest rated QB left on their board, so they chose him. Those QB's you listed? Obviously no teams thought very highly of them, but people on this board are making statements about how Nix and Gailey must have really seen something special in Levi Brown, and I think that is silly. Some kind of wishful thinking that is being projected onto the situation. The quarterback situation is actually DIRE. Same guys as last year, none of whom have accomplished much at all, and most likely, another season of field goals, and generally DULL football from our Bills.
-
Yes. They figured "He has greatness written all over him" then waited until their last pick to choose him.

NFL Execs expect Gathier trade
Geno Smith's Arm replied to WordByrd's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Of course. But we don't KNOW if they are any good. We KNOW that the guys we have had for the last 10 years haven't been any good. I'm not advocating drafting just any guy with a high pick, and calling him a top prospect. My real point is, that it is easier to find decent lineman out there and to put together a respectable line, than it is to find a top flight QB. And that the team should use the top picks to try to get a QB in here. There have been numerous posts for the last year (at least) fretting about how we need to spend our top picks on offensive lineman, and "get the O-line together" BEFORE we draft a QB. I think this is nonsensical, and that the sooner they get a top flight rookie in and developing, the better. The line can be pieced together in the meantime.
