Is McDermott the new McDaniels?
Jerry Jabber replied to Jerry Jabber's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Maybe if the Bills had a GM who has a plan to build the team to win the division, then it would be a different story. How many of the previous GM’s just drafted the best player available instead of having a specific plan like build a good pass protecting O-line, draft a QB instead of taking other teams backups, and build a great defensive front 7. Even Bill Polian said the same things about building your team to win the division. -

Is McDermott the new McDaniels?

Nah, just going off of what I’ve seen from the Bills over the past 17 years. It’s the definition of insanity, doing the same things over and over but expecting different results each time. -
Is McDermott the new McDaniels?

That’s another issue with the Bills coaches over the past few years. The Bills had the #4 defense under Jim Schwartz, next two years, they bring in Wrecks Ryan, he changes the defense and they regressed significantly. The Bills offense the past two years was good, had the #1 rush offense, but the new OC decides to scrap what the Bills did successfully and implemented his own offense, instead of tailoring his system to the strength of his players and the offense regressed. Good coaches play to the strengths of their players, not just implement a system and have their players either sink or swim in it. -

And the Bills have been averaging between 6-7 wins per year for the past 17 years. So what if the Bills win 7 or 8 games, if they miss the playoffs again, it’s the same thing year after year, drafting in the same spots and continuing to be mediocre. -
Is McDermott the new McDaniels?

I’m glad the Bills won on Sunday, but the win was not overly impressive as the Bills were playing a reeling Chiefs team. The Chiefs looked more like the Bills on Sunday (very short pass plays, runs, etc). The Bills had less than 70 yards of total offense in the second half. Do you think that is going to be good enough against the Patriots? Hell no! As I stated earlier, this is about numerous head scratching decisions made by McDermott since he’s been here, not just one decision. -

I get what McDermott is trying to do, he’s getting rid of players who are not buying into “the process,” as well as those players that have high salaries who are constantly dealing with injuries. So far, he seems too much like McDaniels and it seems more players are giving up on him. Also, his win now and build for the future is counterproductive. The Bills most likely will miss the playoffs (again) finish around their usual spots of 7-9/8-8, draft between 8-19 (as usual) and miss out on an impact player. Wash, rinse, repeat... Same ol’ Bills. -
When Josh McDaniels was the HC in Denver, he gutted the roster, traded away players that were either problem makers or did not agree with his style of coaching, as well as bench players for what he deemed “disciplinary actions.” So far, we’ve seen McDermott trade away players that he feels didn’t fit his scheme, trade away Dareus and replaced Shaq Lawson as the starting DE (seems Lawson is not buying into the process). Seems like McDermott is falling in lines of McDaniels when he was the HC in Denver. Will McDermott’s transformation of the Bills fail like McDaniels did in Denver? So far, we’ve seen the offense regress from the past two seasons and the defense had a very rough three game stretch.

Bills Chiefs postgame thread
Jerry Jabber replied to BuffaloBill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The Bipolar Bills won against the Chefs, I definitely was not expecting that. Is this the first time the Bills have beaten the Chefs with Andy Reid as their HC? It was a good, but not great game. It seemed like the Chefs were a mirror image of how the Bills have been playing the previous weeks (similar to the Jets and Saints games). It’s always good to see a Bills win, but if they miss the playoffs by going 7-9/8-8, then it’s more of the same ol’ Bills. Wash, rinse, repeat… -
Should the Pegulas Cash Out?
Jerry Jabber replied to Coach Tuesday's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You make great points, but I disagree that they should sell one or both franchises. The Pegula's are new to owning/running sports franchises and we are going through "growing pains" with them as they figure things out. We have to grin and bear it until they've finally find the right solution(s). -
Does anyone else feel numb to this?
Jerry Jabber replied to TonyBeets's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yes, I’m numb to it. The stupidity at OBD doesn’t surprise me anymore. You can’t rebuild and try to win at the same time, it’s one or the other. It’s no wonder why the Bills continually finish on average between 6-10/7-9, draft around the same spots (8-13) and waste those first round picks on DB’s and RB’s. Wash, rinse, repeat... -
One thing that got magnified in yesterday's disaster was how terrible pass protection looked on the right side of the line. Taylor's mobility/escape-ability has masked this problem all season long. I'm curious to know if Ryan Groy and John Miller are worse options at RG instead of Vlad Ducasse and if Seantrel Henderson is a worse option at RT instead of Johnathan Mills? Ducasse and Mills have been horrible all year long and it seems both of their jobs have been safe.
