Its OK for the Bills to be a run-first team
ren1701 replied to First Round Bust's topic in The Stadium Wall
I have no words - anybody that is "ok" with this is crazy. This is a passing league and has been for the last 30 plus years. We have arguably one of the best, like ever, a unicorn which we will never get again and this clunky, ball control garbage that they think they can play against good teams is the best they can do??? - then they should do the best of somebody better. With that thinking, trade 17 now while he can still win one with a coach that knows how to use him because he deserves better than being a game manager for a offensive coordinator that that has a playbook of screens and B gap runs. Seriously, you literally just watched this team give up the church to bad teams because Allen could not put on the cape and bail them out - they win against a team that is even worse than the them and people are ok with it. They play uninspired and they game plan LAZY. They come out with the same 10 core offensive plays and play bend don't break typically till the 3rd quarter when McClappy figures it out. We have MAYBE 3 more wins on this schedule and if we do make the playoffs, I expect the same result as the last 6 years. At some point, this became the definition of insanity and we all for some reason keep trying to defend it. What's that called? Mental gymnastics? I don't know -

Best QB possibly ever relegated into a game manager... unreal -
This is an odd take, saying T2 made it to the playoffs while waiting for the Bengals to hopefully win that night to get us in, and playing a last place schedule to boot, he gets a pass? Regular season wins mean jack, nobody will remember that - it's championships that matter. I've been on this train for the last 3 years about McD, take away 17 and the Bills are mediocre at best - forever in purgatory. They are not setup to win a championship, they are set up for "sustainability" - stay in the mix, hopefully make it through and most importantly, keep the seats filled and the merch flowing. ALOT of people here forget it's a business first and a game second. Be honest and think about it, in 7 years has Bean gone "all in"?? -think about it. He brings in just enough talent to keep up that pace, guys at the end of their career or used up, or middle of the road talent. We all know the Bills need a stud to stretch the field deep but "everybody eats" right? ridiculous (see last game where even with a lost step Diggs roasted us) and we need either another pass rushing stud or a shut down corner without that. So lets just prove this out, Parsons was available, complete game changer, but we can't give up that 1st round pick (even though most likely it is 29/30), so gonna just draft a guy and "hope" he's as good as Parsons? Some teams treat draft pick like they are gold. Teams that are making a run will never do that, they go all in. Now the trade window will come and go and no matter what happens during the rest of the season, we will get into the playoffs, maybe we even win one - but no way is there enough talent on the field or in the booth to bring it home, but ya never know, 6th times a charm right?

I rarely speak up as always love your takes. I think, unless MCD gets a handle on this defense, we are headed for our 5th one and done in the playoffs when things get real. At some point, 17 won't be able to put on the cape and bail out that coaching staff (see last 5 playoff games). I am getting 1991 vibes again - so much talent, terrible coaching. Give me a Parcels or Gibbs back then and I'm pretty sure some of those Lombardi's hit home. Now saying that, anyone who thinks you are going to blow out any NFL team on any given Sunday is crazy. They won by double digits and that's impressive against any NFL team but lets be real, the Bills sit in that base nickel (I think the number I saw was 57-60% of the time) with 2 undersized LB's at the point of attack, along with a 280 pound NT in Oliver, and rush 4 so they get gouged on the ground- a lot. Quiet frankly, I don't know why teams pass at all as it took that coaching staff in the Bal game until the 4th quarter to move into 4-3 with some beef and even yesterday, 3rd quarter until they added Williams and lets be honest here, Hamlin wouldn't start on a practice squad and Tre is not the Tre we all remember, he has been getting cooked religiously, which is why they sat him for the Strong yesterday. What's the saying? Offensive wins games but defense wins championships? We might have to admit we have become the definition of insanity, same thing every year and expect a different result. I think there are no excuses this year, the stars have aliened - league MVP, easiest schedule in the NFL, ton of talent and an offense that is avg 30 points or more a game, with ease mind you. Some questions I ask now - Does 17 have a long enough cape this year that when they score 50 will he score 51? When is enough is enough for him? Is Allen the next Philip Rivers? best that never was? Is this a 6-12 team without 17? Can we get more then 2 games from Milano without injury? Is it players on defense or scheme? Both? When do the Bills go "all in"? - that, THAT right there is the biggest question and has been for the last 3 years for me. Would the Bills getting to the big game with a Belichick or a Reid? Say what you want about Brady (he is the GOAT) but there were a few of those rings because of that Pats defense if I recall. I hope this is THE year, but from what I saw last night with the Chiefs, I have doubts that it will be any different and I assure everybody here, if we end up playing the Ravens in the playoffs, they will not make the same mistake twice and they will pound Henry until his legs fall off.. I know I would

Return of the Tre! (Tre White signs with the Bills)
ren1701 replied to FireChans's topic in The Stadium Wall
Maybe this is a win - Cam Lewis got cooked in the slot and also consider, a safety role? Hamlin needed to be released last year. He brings some, needed exp w/ McD's defense. Not like we broke the bank. -
I didn't say it wasn't, doesn't matter HOW you hit the gas, conservaball did not work the last time and 17 flung he rock 39 times in that game. The TOP was crazy lopsided, Cheifs had 22 min and the Bills 37 and they still equaled us in yards gained. Here is the difference between the Chiefs and the Ravens, by the time you adjust, game is over, they rarely make dumb mistakes and play sound fundamental football, like the Bills. Do whatever it takes, run it pass it - and most importantly and I say this it seems every playoffs game- SHUT DOWN KELCE

Agrred- died a little myself. 25 should have never come down to a FG anyways. I was no fan of Levy either, terrible coach but kept all those egos in check I guess but I have no doubt, with a Parcels or a JJ we had pulled a few of those home and I feel we are in that spot now. -

Really?? So in EVERY playoff loss - when did 17 leave it on the field, with the lead mind you, and the D take care of busines? I'll give you 13 seconds to think about it. You can nit pick what I'm sayign all you want but doesn't change the fact that no Lombardi's are at OBD and I'm pretty sure whe you your O is averaging 32 ppoint s a game, your qb has 6 TD's, you win games - unless you are the Bills. What's that term "Billsey"? I ASSURE you, nobody from the 90's / gen X is saying that. Until you live through that heartbreak, you have no idea what you are saying - sorry. -

Funny ... can't remember Purdy showing off his ring but that's none of my busines, Hey, if "good enough" every year is you bar, have at it -all good. -

Not arguing that, just saying, in my original premise, the scheme is sound, just not 80% of the game. it's unrealistic and run it's course- no different then the no huddle. Offense wins games, defense wins championships - not regular season or games against bad teams. Until that defense does that - it's bull you know what.
