It seems like the Bills keep getting the same guy at safety.  Namely an in the box safety.  Cole Bishop is now the 3rd in the box guy they’ve signed up for next year as Rapp and Edwards are also in the box safeties.  So who on the roster can play deep center?  Poyer was a phenomenal in the box saftey and they’ve replaced him in triplicate, but Hyde was a great center fielder (who had lost a step) and there doesn’t seem to be anyone on the roster who can even come close to filling this void.  I realize there are a couple of other guys on the roster like Hamlin but none of these guys have ever put anything on tape that merits consideration as a starter at any position. This all seems particularly troubling in a league where the top teams all have great deep options that will run wild if the Bills don’t have a dependable deep center.

Well if that's true then why did Kincaid say that Bishop usually got the better of him in Coverage in practice?

According to you he would be getting smoked one on one?

I think you should actually go watch film of the player and stop reading media representations. Your assessment is WAY off with Bishop. He is super athletic and runs a 4.45 40, and can pretty much do it all

I really hope something is done at WR June 1st.  Josh has got to be frustrated as hell by now, I mean what else can this kid do? I do like Coleman and think he can be damn good, but what if he isn't.  I don't get not swinging for the fences, or at least taking the GB Route like you said.  Its almost like this draft was a FU to the fans, to the "experts" and media.

We dumped Diggs which was  needed and we didn't pay Davis which I agree with, but we haven't done anything but take 1 WR and sign Samuel.  I guess thats all the help they are going to give Josh.  So much for the BS at the combine etc, about getting more explosive.

I think the Bills have a pretty diverse skill set of offensive weapons now and I think it's going to be pick your poison defending them with different players being the "go to guy" in different games depending on what other teams do on D and how they play them.

Kincaid is going to be a star and matchup nightmare.

Cook is already close to a star and matchup nightmare.

Shakir was coming on strong and is going to likely take a huge step this year.

Knox is still solid even tho he had a down year.

Samuel is a solid #2 and provides quickness and speed and is a YAC chewer upper

Coleman is a big bodied WR that is open when he isn't open that can box out defenders like he was playing basketball and should be a big red zone target initially.

Davis is going to be a great change of pace back along with Ty Johnson who just always made stuff happen every time he touched the ball.

I think people are underestimating the offense. I don't think much changes in terms of scoring ability.

Plus we still have Josh Allen who more often than not can make something out of nothing and make your jaw drop

Who said 40 times aren't relevant? They are. They just aren't everything.

40 times can be greatly influenced simply by not being a good starter from the blocks.

I posted up thread about Coleman perhaps being the worst starter out of the blocks I have ever seen for a WR and instead of driving forward out of the blocks to gain speed and accelerate, he literally stands straight up which causes him to hitch and slow down and then he has to re-accelerate again.

Compare him to Worthy and you'll see what I mean. Worthy stays low coming out and accelerates thru to a standing up position. Coleman stands straight up almost which slows him down.

It's not natural for a WR to get down in a sprinter stance coming off the line. It's natural for a player that has run track like Worthy and likely done it hundreds or thousands of times over and over again.

Coleman lost .2 seconds just on his bad start and it reminded me a lot of Josh Allen's 40...he did the same thing. But look at Allen running away from DBs in the open field...would anyone say he is slow?

This quote from Beane defines the entire draft strategy:

He is giving it to us straight. The Bills are in a rebuild year. So he went for all team captains. Guys that interviewed well. Guys that he believes set a new foundation of leadership in the building. He hunted for short term needs that fit the singular character profile he and McDermott feel comfortable with, at the expense of talent at premium positions. And he is telling the fanbase to temper our expectations without coming right out and saying it.

I'm not gonna grade a draft until we see how all the players turn out, but the overall philosophy shown this weekend is deflating and uninspiring.

    Not rebuild. Reload.

I don't understand this "Coleman is a big slot" thing at all.

    1) I read he played the majority of his offensive snaps at the X in Florida

    2) we are already overloaded with guys at WR who are at their best from the slot, why ever would Beane draft a WR with our top pick if he thought he was a slot?

    3) Beane has unambiguously said, Coleman will be playing the X in the Bills offense

My guess is that the Bills feel that he has the physical tools to refine his route running, because of his basketball background, and that is something they can "coach up" more easily than coaching up reliable hands or the timing to high-point balls.

One thing I'm about as positive as I can be is Beane is correct, he plays faster than his combine speed.  I could see it in the gauntlet drill at the combine; somewhere it was posted he reached 21 mph by GPS.

Yes, the fastest gauntlet time of any WR in the past 2 years.

The talent level on this team is so far behind the Niners, Eagles, Chiefs, Lions and Ravens

    it’s not even close.

Josh Allen is the great equalizer many times. We are still winning the AFC East.

Stupid as hell. This roster won't have 5th and 6th rounders on it.

    Inb4 _______ was a 6th rounder.

Christian Benford was a 6th round pick.

Khalil Shakir was a 5th round pick.

Don't know who is going to turn into good players or not at this stage but the Bills seem to have a knack for finding the later round players that contribute

Beane has a real tendency for a certain type of player.

Ray Davis is a  Zack Moss clone

Coleman isn't too far off from Kelvin Benjamin and Devin Funchess.

None of those guys panned out.

Seems Beane consistently under values speed in skill players.  I was hoping we'd come out of this draft faster and more explosive on O, but instead it's more of the usual.

Coleman would have been a decent replacement for Gabe. Similar skill set. Is Samuel supposed to be the Diggs replacement? Hard to see us being better on offense.

Or defense for that matter. They don't seem to have a vision or plan for getting better than the Chiefs. Feels like a reset year.

Coleman is quite a ways away from those players actually

Kid looks like the battering ram we need. Has speed and moves. Rather not get him in the 4th and rather he'd be 21 or 22, but if he's breaking off big runs for us on 3rd down all that stuff goes away.

Why does age even matter, they aren't getting a 2nd contract as an RB.

Cool. What team is Brugler working for?

As we all should know by now media and "experts" draft boards are very different than actual teams draft boards. Bet Brugler had T'Vondre Sweat and AD Mitchell taking up spots on his board as well. I can say with confidence that they (along with many other players) were off of team boards like every year. When experts say they have "150" draftable grades, it's not taking into account medicals, behavioral issues, scheme specific gradings. Many teams boards are much smaller

Exactly...all they can do is give a "general" grade based on "general" schemes but teams have specific schemes and specific traits they want players to have.

Sorry to have upset the board gestapo. I said get some speed at the receiver position, as in more. As in additions to what we already have. You know to address the whole explosive plays they think they are missing.

I think fans think it far more than the Bills do.

  12. I mean Beane loves his mid round RBs.

Seems like a decent enough player but really is there any difference between what you can get in round 4 and round 6 or 7 these days? They are a dime a dozen.

Don't hate the player but hate the position and the Bills insistence on using mid round picks on RBs.

Have any lived up to expectations? We hit on some late rounders but it seems to a disappointing part of our draft. Hard to buy into any hype at this point. Hard to get excited about these picks.  The last guy day 1-2 pick that was everything we wanted out of him was Tre. Seems so long ago and that was Whaleys scouting staff

Yeah Ed Oliver sucks and so does James Cook apparently even tho he was 4th in the NFL in rushing and 6th in the NFL in yards from scrimmage.

Do you even bother paying attention to what you write or just post whatever?

I want the Bills to trade for Sutton -as per article: send Denver our 4th and 5th and get Sutton and their 6th.

We might not have a true #1 stud, but if Coleman shows out, we’d have a beast of a line up of WR’s and Kincaid and Knox (and no Prima Donna #1).

Teams arent deep enough to stop all that talent.

That was another NFL comparison for Coleman...Cortland Sutton and Drake London are the two most common ones I am seeing.
