  1. Nice job.

I don't want a running QB, and I don't get the impression that EJ wants to run. Why is the Read Option Offense being used?

I think the ineffectiveness of the RO has been a bigger problem than the uptempo, no-huddle aspect of this offense.

All 22 review by Joe B of WGR shows EJ consistently is making the wrong read on read option plays...ie, he hands it off when he could keep it for a 5 or 6 yard gain...

Perhaps he doesn't want to run it because the keys are pretty easy to read...I mean high schoolers do it all the time

  2. A lot of well established players take Wednesday practice off to recover/recharge/heal. Calvin Johnson also didn't practice today.

I think this is just the R part of RICE, or NICER, and not anything to be worried about.

If Kyle starts losing games again due to his achilles, then color me concerned.

RICE actually leads to increasing the chance for reinjury...I used the HEM(hydrotherapy, exercise, message) method when I had a bad ankle sprain and was amazed at the how fast I healed...was walking normally and back at the gym lifting in 3 days when I should have still been on crutches according to my doctor...

A shame doctors and PTs still cling to the archaic RICE regimen when much better options exist...

  3.

Not hanging on to Levitre was unfortunate but understandable, not finding a decent guard to play in his stead is inexcusable. If Nixy is right about tackles that don't cut it can still be good guards, there has got to be a bubble tackle out there they could move inside.

The general lack of roster moves to adjust to injuries is puzzling. They have not even used the IR spot that can be designated to return.

At some point they need to deal with Byrd. It's really hard not to be suspicious of a month long now, "day to day" undiagnosable injury in the midst of this contract peeing match.

I was shocked they let Levitre go and then didn't sign Rhinehart to an extension(that is if he didn't tell them no), considering he was very solid in fill in work for Urbik...

Would have been orders of magnitude better than Brown...

  4.

Until we know the playbook is no longer "limited," how can we say the coaches trust their players (rookie QB, turnstyle LG, rookie WR, TJ) are ready?

It's been three weeks. If--in ten weeks--we still haven't seen any of these things, it'll be time to raise an eyebrow.

Of course, now the team is in a lose-lose. If they come out and carve the Ravens to ribbons using these kinds of plays, the line will be: they were too idiotic to do this against New York!?

But that's the whole point, why would easy plays and easy completions NOT be in there, but long passes and long developing crossing routes are?

I mean for a team like the Jets that play press man a lot, putting a bunch formation with 3 WRs and having the two outside guys run quick inside slants with the inside guy looping behind them into a flat wheel route or simply the flat will result in his defender needing to fight through 4 guys to get to his man...wide open...Broncos were using similar plays last night against the Raiders...wide open receivers through play design. Easy throws, ball comes out quick, no real skill needed by WR to beat his man.

Same with the misdirection plays...usually lead to wide open players and easy throws...

These are the plays that we should be utilizing..easy plays with high percentage of success to loosen the D up and then attack, not try and run the ball twice and then throw bombs on third and 7...

  5. My thing is where are the screens, misdirections, rubs/picks off bunch sets that would free up players just by design?

We were among the best screen teams in the NFL last year...WR screens, RB screens, Middle screens...where are they? Our backs are phenomenal screen backs...

We have a mobile QB but rarely use it to our advantage...where are the misdirections or the waggles that send the run action and line one way and then drags a TE or FB back across the formation usually leaving them wide open especially with aggressive, over pursuing teams...

No picks or rubs that would especially be effective against teams jamming WRs at the line as you can force the DB covering a WR to fight through four defenders to get to his man, or if they switch, likely cause confusion at some point when one of the 3 DBs makes a mental mistake...

This is basic stuff that I saw no evidence of us doing and was very disappointed since this would be the perfect team to do this against...

In my opinion, Fitz never had a passing game this bad because he never had a situation like this with so many chances to win. Remember that the Jets had 20 penalties (NFL record for a winning team?) and the D kept them in it till the end. I'm aware that Fitz had some multi-INT games where he was chasing a runaway score, but nothing like this. It wasn't as bad as Trent, but worst since no doubt. I'm not just blaming EJ. The awful O-line, offensive scheme and all the inept sideline routes by the WRs were a big part.

Part of the reason is cause those Fitz miscues put them deep in the hole to begin with...coupled with a D that couldn't stop anyone

  7. Well, at least Brown is taking sucking to a completely new and never seen before level.

Brown currently has a -23.7 grade through three games, extending his lead of "worst player in the NFL" with each snap, averaging a mind numbing -7.9 grade through 3 games, which I cannot recall ever seeing a player graded that low for even a single game.

At least Brown is taking sucking to a whole new level, on pace for an astounding, might never be broken record of -126.4 grade for the season. This would be the 56 game hitting streak record of football...never seriously challenged again since...

Sad, but at least Bills fans can look fondly back in years to come that we have the all time worst graded player in recent NFL history since they have begun grading players...

    Congrats Colin...

  8. League leader at sucking with a -23.7 grade through 3 games...a mind numbing average of -7.9 per week's, which I don't think I have seen any other player receive a grade that low in a single game ever, lol...

He is well on his way to setting a PFF all-time lowest grade for a season record that may never be broken...

  9. I don't even think Rogers was the worst player in this game, much less worst all time. Sure the stats look bad and shocking, but he was playing the toughest role on the field. He was obviously going to be focused on and all passes were going to be coming at him. Personally, I was expecting a much worse result after McKelvin went down. Rogers wasn't too far off from Holmes on the TD. Anything less than a perfect throw and he would have broken it up. Now, the QB and WR play for the Bills, on the other hand, should have been better. That was the worst Bills passing game I've seen since Trent @ Cleveland 10-11-09.

Nah, Fitz had several worse days...Manuel ended up with 243 yards passing, there were games Fitz didn't hit 150

Is this the most hyperbolic post of all time? (see what I did there?) Look, he was on Holmes like glue on the 4th quarter TD and just didn't turn around in time. He also made a sweet play to singlehandedly (literally and figuratively) break up a potential TD in the endzone earlier in the game. Do you really think in the 44 year history of the NFL (since the merger) that no player at any position has ever had a worse game than Rogers did on Sunday? Like there wasn't a backup guard on the 1983 Atlanta Falcons that had a really bad game once that you may have missed? My question to you would be, have you really watched that little football that you've never seen a backup CB in a depleted secondary get picked on?

I don't believe I have ever seen one player responsible for almost half of the other teams total offense(6 passes for 247 yards according to PFF) when they had more than 500 yards.

I mean Rogers gave up more than several teams did in entire games last week.

Stop saying its cause he's a 4th string CB. Even 4th string CBs don't get beat that badly...not by THOSE receivers...its not like he was up against Calvin Johnson or Andre Johnson...

  10. EJ looked very concerned about turning it over. On one play, I remember hi having a ton of time and he just coudn't find anyone open so he threw it OOB. CBS threw up a graphic of how all the WRs were covered and Gannon commended him on the decision. It was a tough day for EJ but he made some really good plays too, again in the clutch, but Rex won the battle.

Wonder how many rookie starting QBs have only thrown 1 INT in their first 3 games? Not many I bet, especially against the 3 defenses we have played.

  11. For fun, I looked at the NY Jets-Ravens box score from their last meeting (2011), to get an idea of how they performed against Pettine/Ryan defense. Flacco's #s - 10/31, 163 yds, 32.3% passer rating. 0 TDs, 1 INT. Fr the record, the Ravens won 34-17 but scored 1 offensive TD on a Ray Rice 3 yd run.

That's why I am not too concerned about EJs performance Sunday...they have been doing this to QBs since Ryan got there...there is a reason QBs have a collective rating of 68 against his D over the last 3 year's...if anything, encouraged EJ didn't throw bad INTs like Fitz used to do against them

  12. Let's not forget we have played very well against Baltimore recently as well, winning in Buffalo and should have beat them in Baltimore last time we played driving with Nelson fumbling in the air in OT in Baltimore territory...

Baltimore also probably played its best game of the year last week with Lewis being inducted into their Ring of Honor, and were actually dominated by Houston in the first half but they settled for FGs instead of TDs...Baltimore took control after a INT return for a TD and a punt return TD, not thru their offense.

If we can continue to limit our mistakes we will be in this game...I doubt Manuel plays as poorly as last week again...we are at home and that should energize us

Also, the Texans actually neutralized Baltimore's offense more than Baltimore neutralized theirs. Flacco was 16/24 for 171 yards and Pearce rushed 24 times for 65 yards, under 3 YPC. In total Baltimore gained 240 yards of offense. Houston averaged 4.1 YPC so I think we can run a little on them. Carolina was supposed to be a great front 7 as well and Spiller averaged 6 YPC against them.

  13.

Forget playing like a starter, I'd settle for him just playing like a 4th string CB that looks like he's played in this league a few seasons. It looked like he never laced up a pair of cleats.

    GO BILLS!!!

Hey I can understand getting beat like in the Panther game once for a long TD...but to get beat that badly over and over is not NFL caliber play. It's not CFL caliber play. It might not even be AFL caliber play...especially against THAT group of WRs
