  1. I'm not sure we need a QB; I am sure we need a run-stuffing defensive lineman.
  2. I think it's just one of those stars-are-in-alignment things, certainly an honest effort to represent the best interests of his constituents in light of the continuing assault of vehicular litigation. To be sure merely a coinkydink of the first magnitude!
  3. I can take a lesbian, but another woman that looks like Janet Napolitano....not so much.
  4. Is there anything funnier than O'Reilly launching into his "fair and balanced" and "no spin zone" rants? Conversly, how funny is it when Olberman misspeaks and stammers when he is criticizing the congressperson de jour for misspeaking and stammering? For every Olberman, there's an O'Reilly.... Hopefully, they never leave their studios.
  5. I've always believed Board of Education Presidents are a$$holes!
  6. In the next week or so the feces should hit the air propeller big time when the extent of Murtha's involvement with the defense contractors in his district, currently registered as charities thus not paying taxes, becomes generally known.
  7. Never happen in NYS. AFSCME, NYSUT and assorted other initial groups would throw a major hissy fit!
  8. Liberal - Conservative, rightist - leftist.... Just the thought that someone murdered a person because the perpetrator felt the victim murdered someone makes me stand back and think about many and wonderous things. P.S. While I hate to admit it in print, I totally agree with Pasta Joe's comment.
  9. That's the way it starts...next thing you know he will stop drivers from emptying their ashtrays at red lights!
  10. To make some badly needed money for federal coffers (w/out hammering the citizen taxpayers), and follow the green revolution by reusing whatever we can, let's lease the detention center at Gitmo to Myanmar or Sri Lanka...anyone who needs a facility in which to hold their captured rebel leaders. It should be especially attractive to muslim nations as a place where detainees (They may choose another word for their guests.) can be held away from the maddening crowd.
  11. OK, that's the last straw! The North Koreans have followed up their nuclear [or nucluear, if you prefer] test with short-range missle launches. It's time for another, more substantitive, UN resolution, this time printed in bold capital letters, sent to North Korea Priority Mail!
  12. So, Pogo WAS right, "We have....yada, yada, yada....?
  13. In response to North Korea's nuclear test, I think we should immediately follow up the UN resolution of today with a UN resolution of tomorrow, and, if needed, a UN resolution on Wednesday. We simply must move this issue to a higher level of diplomacy. I dare say a fourth resolution may even be in order!
  14. Let's all hold our breath for fear Stokes and Barron may hear of a fast ferry for sale somewhere and devise a Buffalo-to-Toronto business plan on a napkin. Note to Buffalo city officials: CHECK THE %(&$ing resumes BEFORE you hire people or invest in their schemes! Hiring good people is an art, not a science. Hiring a person who doesn't perform as expected isn't a mistake; not firing them immediately IS A MISTAKE!
  15. Ah, not a problem! Representative Louise (Weezy) Slaughter and her gang of legislative nit wits indicate that a high speed passenger rail system from NYC to Buffalo will serve as the economic artery that will pump life blood into the ailing economy of western New York. Just a few road blocks (no pun intended) like CSX, no right of way, little or no ridership on Amtrack at present, no interest among the hewers of wood and drawers of water in NYS. Of course, ALL involved understand that a high speed rail system will NEVER be built, but that the real money is in the planning, consulting, studying, revising, etc. that comes before the first shovel is purchased...with federal dollars. Just try to quantify the number of meetings required to finalize the documents to initially ask the fed's for the first study dollars.... High speed rail in NYS will become part of the Legends of NYS Infrastructure series--A new Peace Bridge, Rochester's fast ferry and now high speed rail!
  16. Steely, let's teach your cat to swim! For that you'll need a burlap bag (to use as sort of a swim suit), a neighbor's pond (no explanation needed), and a cinder block (for the cat to stand on if the water gets too deep. A) put the cat and the block in the bag; B) put the bag in the pond....voila!
  17. Is there anything funnier than those protesting a major university's invitation to a commencement speaker who happens to hold a different opinion on a much-debated subject? Gee, you'd think that colleges and universities were seeking to expose students to all points of view...or something....
  18. Poor Nancy! She wasn't happy when she was on the outside looking in; now she isn't happy on the inside looking out. Ah, heavy are the reins of power! Not so easy when she looks around and there is no one to blame given her party is in the majority. Rather than whup on those nasty Republicans, why not focus on the Democrats who are moderates and don't buy her brand of politics?
  19. Any truth to the rumor that Daschle has requested a refund....?
  20. The "apology thing" is the secret weapon in the back pocket to be used only when all seems lost....
  21. My thought is to simply ignore my tax responsibility come April 15th, then wait to see if I'm nominated for any public office. If I am, I'll make some lame @$$ excuses and pay some of what I owe; if not, I'll just let it ride. The IRS will be short of personnel, plus won't be able to afford the postage to send me a notice. I'm home free! If I do get my tit in a wringer over the non-payment of taxes, I'll plead the Geitner-Dashle defense.
  22. We could parse the concept forever...do any of you believe this "bailout" will actually serve its intended purpose?
  23. The costs of recent Senate appointees isn't measured in dollars as much as they are measured, IMHO, in the net loss of credibility of our political system.
  24. A am sooo excited about the task force, and Joe "the Delaware Destroyer" Biden is just the greatest choice to chair this action group! Unions, workers, companies, store owners, just plain folks...all working with Joe and his crew to make it better for us. Oh, I think I'll just sit quietly now and wait for the first task force impact to be delivered here...fixing that pesky pot hole, cutting me a $500 check, driving me to the bank. All the best to you, too, as the task force comes to your town soon....
  25. Any chance of the President doing some actual rubber-to-the-road type work rather than making press statements once or twice a day? Next thing you know he'll be shoving NYS Senator Chuck Schumer aside whenever he sees a TV camera.
