Every deer hunter I know brings home the kill and feeds his friends and family with it. I have never met a hunter who would go to all the trouble of getting up before the ass-crack of dawn, loading up his gear, finding a good spot to set up his deer stand and waiting for hours on end for an animal that may never arrive just to kill it and leave it there. If I recall correctly, it is also illegal to leave your kill behind, just like it is to kill dogs for fun.

All this pessimism around here is out of control. The following is a reply I posted in another thread that I feel needs to be more visible. And, I added a little to the end. Why so cynical? Take a look at the rest of our schedule: Week 12 - @Chefs - Just plain suck, d is a joke and offense is no better Week 13 - 40 Whiners - Just plain suck, and traveling from west to east Week 14 - Phish - Anything can happen in division games, and this one is almost home Week 15 - @Jests - Anything can happen in division games and who knows which Favre shows up Week 16 - @Ponies - Horrible defense, the O, especially the running game could put up huge #s Week 17 - Patsies* - Anything can happen in division games, and this one is at home. It's not over yet. Our team stepped up big in a number of ways last night. The o-line looked dominant in run and pass blocking, Beastmode and Head looked awesome, the defense finally looked almost up to expectations, the special teams were awesome until the last field goal, Fewell pulled his head out of his @$$ and called a pretty damn good game and with the exception of the last three plays Turk actually called a pretty dynamic and unpredictable game. If Edwards can shake off the funk he's in(KC and SF should give him plenty of opportunity to rebuild his confidence), we will be looking like a pretty good team. Don't be so cynical. We have the young, talented foundation for a team that can be good for years to come. Just sit back, enjoy watching these kids grow and feel good about the future of Bills football. Before this season began, there were no delusions of granduer(at least not on my part) about this team or a Superbowl this season. We are exactly where a young team finally coming together should be. There are going to be some tough patches when a team this young and inexperienced starts gelling and learning to play together, but they are on the right track. I came into this season expecting to be a borderline(at best) playoff contender, but to improve and be much more competitive and respectable one or two more seasons down the line. We're where we need to be, where we should have expected to be(had the early success against teams who were far worse than expected not given everybody such lofty immediate goals), and where we are - primed for a long period of very good football set to begin in another season or two.

What should we see now that the playoffs are history ?
devldog131 replied to TheKing's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
No, it wouldn't be. I'm not into seeing people get hurt. I'm not a Losman fan, and I do think Trent will be the quarterback this team needs, but JP has done nothing but give 100% effort every time he has taken the field and been a good teammate when he has been in a backup role. Had he been intentionally slacking off and underperforming I might feel differently, but he has been exactly what he was when he was drafted, a pretty good backup. I never saw him as a legitimate starter, but the fact that he was drafted as highly as he was(in a bad decision by management) has caused people to think he should have been better than he was capable of being. He didn't underperform his talent level or ability, he simply underperformed the poor ranking the FO gave him. -

I'd say the only team we could possibly afford to lose to would be SF. As far as Tie breakers go, conference record comes before division record. With all but the whiners game being against conference teams, the only one we could really lose and still have a shot is SF.

How can you be sure playoffs are history? We are one game behind the wild card with six to go. Crazier $#it has happened. -
How many times did Losman throw 4 in one game?
devldog131 replied to jwws9999's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't see how this question matters, since Edwards didn't throw four last night. Check your stats, buddy. -
A Few Thoughts About The Game
devldog131 replied to Bill from NYC's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I am by no means saying that it cost us the game, but what the hell was up with the officiating? The zebras practically help the Browns' hands and walked them into the end zone on their first TD drive. That Illegal contact was a friggin joke and the non-call on the offensive PI on stallworth in the end zone was disgraceful. Don't even get me started on the 15-yarder on Mitchell, that was just plain bull$#it. -
If he is released, he is fair game. We could sign him outright and not have to worry about trading. If, however, Jerksonville doesn't release him, he is there for the duration of the season.
-
Jauron did throw the red flag on this play, but the official did not see it. Can't really put that one on Dickie J.
-
My thoughts are that we aren't trading for anything or anyone. Not because we don't need them, but because the trade deadline has long passed. Remember the day we didn't get Tony Gonzalez? T hat was it.

of course it is. that is the whole point of socialism and wealth redistribution, to try and put everybody on the same level(regardless of how hard they work to get to a higher level). -
There will be a contingent of the Boston Bills Backers at the game and tailgating in a private lot near the stadium. The details for the group are on the front page of the Boston Backers website @ http://www.bostonbillsbackers.com/. Come on down and join us.

This Board is Completely Bi-Polar
devldog131 replied to CJPearl2's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You won't find any real answers here. Unfortunately, even though some poster billieve they are, none of us are experts. If we were we would be getting paid for our opinions, not posting them for free on a public forum. -
You may just want to say "Oh well" and be ok with missing it. It really isn't a performance worth watching.
-
I say we dump Trent and Chroise. Then we give JP 70 Mil for 7 years, and draft whichever quarterback starts for the nearest community college. Hey, maybe we can even get Todd Marinovich to come back and take our team to the promised land.

Buffalo one point favorites over Miami
devldog131 replied to 1billsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think that's the key. Pennington makes Miami's offense exponentially better than their other options. The first time he lines up wide, Donte Whitner needs to line up in press coverage on him and decleat him as soon as the ball is snapped. A DB can hit a WR as hard as he wants within 5 yds of the LOS as long as the ball isn't in the air. Donte needs to leave Chaaaad laying on the turf, seeing stars and convinced he is the quarterback of the NJ Jests. -
Last week on Sunday NFL Countdown, everybody took Buffalo, even Me-Shawn and Cris Carter.
