  1. Vernan Gholston OLB/DE- I've read a number of scouts saying that his combination of freakish athletic ability, yet overall lack of production on a consistent basis is really troubling....I don't think he'll be a complete bust, but I think he'll have one year with 10 sacks, 3 the next, 12 two years from then, with a bunch of 4-7 sack seasons in between. Think Jevon Kearse, with even a little less production. INCONSISTENT. Kenny Phillips S/CB- I'm not a Miami fan, but for one reason or another I have tuned in to a decent amount of games over the past couple of years, and not once did he seem like a difference maker to me in the secondary. Decent against the run, poor decision maker, average ball skills. Nowhere near an Ed Reed or the late Taylor as far as safeties from "The U" go. Matt Ryan QB- I put him in this category only because it is basically set in stone that he will go no lower than #8 overall to the Ravens, and quite possibly the first overall pick to the phins. IMO, if there weren't a handful of teams DESPERATE for a quarterback in this year's draft, he would go no earlier than late in the 1st round based on his skill set. From what I've seen his arm is maybe just above average for an NFL quaterback, his decision making has a long way to go (see his INT totals) and he is def 2-3 years away from developing into a quality NFL starter. That being said, I like his competitve mideset, ability to throw on the run, and physical potential, so he is still a first rounder in my eyes, but probably not a high first rounder in a normal year. Chris Williams OT- This Offensive Tackle from Vandy undoubtedly has a ton of upside, but character and work ethic unknowns beg to question whether he is really worth a high-mid 1st round draft pick IMO. The Broncos might take a chance on him right after us at #12, and I think this would be a reach. We all know due to another OT named Williams that we drafted 4th overall that players are VERY hit or miss at this position, particularly when worth ethic and mindset come into question. Calais Campbell DE- Another guy from that lovely collegiate institute in Southern Florida that reallllly underproduced in his last year in college. Maybe it's the constant character problems, underachieving and arrests that so many players from Miami seem to represent that scares me off, but if a team like Washington at #21 or basically anyone else in the 1st round takes a chance on this guy, I don't think theyre going to be happy with the results. Quickly, a few guys who I think will prove to be drafted TOO LATE this year: Rashard Mendenhall RB, Illinois Jerod Mayo OLB, Tennessee Dustin Keller TE, Purdue Jamaal Charles RB, Texas Andre Caldwell WR, Florida Tashard Choice RB, GA Tech Terrell Thomas CB, USC
  2. What is this guy turning into Maurice Clarett before our very eyes?!?!?
  3. Leodis McKelvin, Dustin Keller, Brandon Flowers, Rashard Mendenhall, Limas Sweed.
  4. Not one of the best mocks I've seen as far as the Bills are concerned IMO...Not only because I like both Kelly and Sweed better than Thomas, but because I think that we NEED to draft a tight end (Davis, Keller, Bennett, Cottam, etc) within the first three rounds and because I am much higher on other Corners like Brandon Flowers (if he lasts), Tracy Porter from Indiana or Terrell Thomas from USC in the second round than I am on Smith.
  5. Yes, Amen. He's not making it rain on strippers like Pacman, putting his arm through tv sets like Marshall, or collecting an assortment of weapons even the Marines would envy of like Tank Johnson either...
  6. Am I the only one who thinks that just because the Dolphins have Parcells on their payroll theyre not going to be much better at all...? I'm sorry, no matter what they do with the #1 pick, I don't see more than 4 or 5 wins from them this year and anything other than a home/away sweep of them this year would be a major dissapointment in my eyes. I mean, all they've added of note thus far through FA is Earnest Wilford, Tab Perry, and Randy Starks. If that's getting people even thinking about them being close to a .500 team with the rest of their team from last year, even with a strong draft, I must be crazy. The Jets are more of a 7-9, 8-8 type team to me than the Dolphins, and with their additions I think they could be even better than that but I don't like either of their quarterbacks so that makes me hesitate big time. Finally, the Patriots are going to be more like they were in the 5 years before last season IMO, very solid, but not 15-1. I wouldn't be surprised at all to see the Bills finally steal a game from them this year, and give them some very good competition for the division down to the final weeks. It seems like we can't help but have a very good draft with the amount of picks that we have, as well as how deep the positions are in which we need help (CB, WR, DL for example). It's much too early to make any exact predictions, but I think once the draft is complete and camp rolls around, our chances are going to seem pretty damn good.
  7. This is more recent of course, but one of the best has to be so many of the ESPN analysts praising the Chargers selection of Ryan Leaf and almost to a man deeming him a better pro than Peyton. I'll never forget sitting in my hometown pizza place, Pizza Junction, watching the draft that day and ridiculously (looking back) nodding, "You know what, I think they're right about this Leaf kid."
  8. I think a simple comparison would be he is faster and has better hands than most, yet smaller than all. Seems to have pretty good makeup, but I think everyone here realizes another 160-170 lb Wideout to go along with Scoe is the last thing we need.
  9. I agree, I really like that kid Steve Justice out of Wake...If he's available in the 3rd or 4th I'd love to see him come on board to either push Fowler, or better yet beat him out for his job by September.
  10. Current Players: Marshawn and Whitner. All-Time Player: Leon Joe.
  11. I get the whole cold weather thing and maybe that is a factor in the decision, but I give sweed the edge based on the 3 1/2 inches he has on Thomas and how well he catches the ball with his hands by all accounts.
  12. Very interesting signing to say the least, yes...Although the coaching staff may only think of him as a nickel/dime corner and may still be high enough on a guy like McKelvin or Rodgers-Cromartie and to pull the trigger in round one. I'd personally like to see them focus on WR with #11 though, especially now that we added this depth. Antoine Cason, Brandon Flowers, Tracy Porter, etc. all might still be there in round two if they are still uneasy about the CB position.
  13. Boondock Saints...And mind you, it was also a low budget film...
  14. Yeah, because I'm sure it's causing you such an INCREDIBLE INCONVENIENCE each time you see something that you just may have already read earlier in the day. Gimme a break.
  15. Let's not go overboard with how weak our secondary or lacking our pass rush is going to be before FA is over, let alone the draft even happening. A LOT can change before September, and as far as the pass rush goes, Stroud and Mitchell both should help that out quite a bit right away. If Stroud can be even close to the player he was as a Pro Bowler or better, he's going to command double teams all day, opening things right up for Schobel, Denney and Kelsay that simply weren't there for the most part last year. As for Mitchell, one of the positives of his game is being set loose to get after the quarterback, and I have a feeling we're going to see him come on a lot of blitzes early and often this year.
  16. Sorry, but you're insane IMO to compare Boondock Saints with anything remotely close to that Transformers crap. Not only did the movie have some of the best graphics of that time, it also had a compelling story line to go with it. You really either must have seen very, very few movies in your life or wayyyyy too many to make a statement like that. Gimme a break.
  17. 1. Patriots 12-4 2. Bills 11-5 3. Jets 7-9 4. Dolphins 6-10 Playoff time baby!!!
  18. A nice ice-cold glass bottle of IBC Root Beer...
  19. I think we POTENTIALLY have a good 4-man DT rotation in Walker, Tripplet, McCargo, and personally, I was very impressed with Kyle Williams almost every game last year. Never saw the kid give up on a play and for being a bit "undersized" he def. held his own IMO....He may not be a viable starting option everyday, but I think he can contribute whenever he gets playing time..The Bills need to focus on RB/LB with their first pick, DT is easily one of the positions they have the most depth in and is not a 1st rd need IMO.
  20. Reed is also easily the best blocking receiver on the team, and probably one of the best in the league IMO..I've always seen him as a poor-mans Hines Ward, and if he improved his hands this year, that comparison could actually become more realistic. D. Jax is def. a game-breaker when he's HEALTHY and CATCHING THE BALL..But unfortunately those are both big IF's, and his salary doesn't improve that situation...
  21. Can we make it a rule in the RB situation posts to never bring up Ricky Williams again please..?? If one of the main reasons for Marv showing the door to Willis and Takeo were character issues within the locker room, it's pretty naive to even consider him bringing in Johnny Potsmoker. Not to mention that he didn't exactly tear up the CFL last year and that it was clear he lost more than a step when he was sharing time with Ronnie Brown in South Beach...I think Portis would be a very good compliment to the A-Train, but also def. see Washington sticking with a two-back offense unless they get an offer that will probably match or exceed that which AJ seems to want for Turner..It is worth a try however, to see if Snyder is smoking the same stuff Williams is and will give Portis up for a couple of 3rd-4th rd picks.
