  1. I want to throw this out there... In the limited time I have looked into this WR class so far I can tell y'all there is one player NO ONE is talking about for the Bills, but he is picture perfect made for what we need... Especially if you're considering the Smoke Brown/Emmanuel Sanders role. And assuming that Justin Shorter will move into the Gabe Davis pre-2022 role...

The player I'm talking about will likely not be a 1st round pick... And yes, there are valid reasons for it...

That player is Jermaine Burton... And IMHO he would be an absolute monster in this Bills offense.

I doubt very much McD will even consider him with the maturity issues... But purely as a player who fits what the Bills need most Burton is massively intriguing to me. I wonder if there are any Alabama fans here who want to chime in? He was made available to the press at times and his interviews seems fine. But he's a walking, talking taunting penalty waiting to happen... That much is pretty obvious. And that has nothing to do with the incident after the 2022 Tennessee game. Which was REALLY bad.. He also took the time after Alabama's win over Georgia in the SEC Championship to troll the GA fans in the stands... He seems pretty immature... Of course, that was the exact problem with George Pickens... So... I don't know... B-)

it’s on “X”  a  Texans blogger with tens of thousands of followers said he knows for certain Diggs reached out to retired Houston receiver recently asking about city and team. Again, only speculation.

I’d bet 50/50 he’s traded.  My guess is Dallas or Houston

if he doesn’t want to be here, we don’t want him.  We went on a winning streak with him barely contributing. Whatever the factors were….

we have a great opportunity to go into next season with multiple young playmakers for Josh. Build chemistry and your offense stays elite for the next 5 years

I just watched an hour long video by Greg Tompsett going over a possible 10-15 moves that would result in the Bills being 30-40 million under the cap while obviously creating some holes that will need to be filled with that space. None of them involved the $31,096,000 in dead cap that trading Diggs will create.

I'd just love to hear a detailed breakdown of how the Bills can do this and field a competitive team in 2024... B-)

    I don't know...

As far as re-builds are concerned I'm not sure you can be better set up for a HC gig then they are currently in Washington. #2 overall pick in a QB rich Draft... New management that is pretty fired up... The most cap space in the NFL  going into 2024...They pick 2nd, 36th, 40th, 67th, 100th, 102nd, 137th, 180th, 219th... They already have McLaurin and Dotson... They have a decent running game.

I mean.... They need work, but they are also set up pretty well. Compare that situation to some of the other openings this off season. There are no guarantees in the future.

I just watched his highlight reel again. It looks like Roman Wilson will be an NFL stud. I think he could be this draft classes Puka Nukua. He has 4.27 40 time and the dude just always has separation. I think he would immediately make an impact on this team. He has played against the top D-1 talent and will be ahead of most in other rookies. I think he fits this offense better than anyone on ther than Harrison who will be long gone before we are on the board. He is only 6’ 0” but he plays bigger than that. He is always in the right place on the field too.

I think Diggs will be back but he and Shakir may have an entirely new room otherwise. Justin Shorter will make the squad and I think Wilson would be a great addition. Those 4 would be really strong and save a lot of cap room.

Would love to see the Bills land Franklin or Legette in the 1st, and Wilson in the 2nd... B-)

I'm just as mad/dissapointed that we lost last night as any other bills fan today. Last week I heard alot on local sports talk radio about how this was our year and how if we just beat kc, it's gotta be our year finally. OK, based on what?!

The last 8 games have been fun. Nobody thought this team would win the division, let alone be the 2 seed and host 2 home playoff games. Having said that, our offense needs serious help. Allen is an absolute animal, but he can't do absolutely everything. I've seen Diggs take alot of flack today on social media and it's well deserved. He's been non existentent the last 8 or so games. Harty and sherfield were complete non factors the entire season. Gabe played nowhere near what we (and the team) expected. Knox was hurt and even when he wasn't, he wasn't exactly a game changer. Kinkaid and Shakir were the lone bright spots, and Shakir really didn't show up until after Dorsey was gone. Cook was great, but we need more. The defense came through, even as beat up as they've been, but in today's nfl you cannot rely solely on the defense. WGR brought up a great point this morning, saying how kc has won superbowls when their defense was ranked in the mid 20's. We need more offense.

I could go on and on, but Imo this wasn't the team that was gonna win it all. I was worried about last night's game, and even had they pulled it out, I'd never believe they could get through Baltimore. Houston has a similar offense to Buffalo and they couldn't muster more than 3 points on offense against Baltimore. Ya I know they have a rookie qb, but stroud is a beast. It'll be super interesting to see what kc does against Baltimore next week. I think Baltimore beats kc by 10 🤷 thanks for letting me vent

Talent-wise... Sure... They can beat anyone on their good days... Anyone...

    Coaching-wise... No... No chance...

  8. Anyone listen to Jeremy and Joe this morning on WGR? Jeremy had the Bills Defensive stats in their last 4 Playoff losses and good grief! I knew it was not good. But it's so far beyond bad it's laughable...

16 TD's, one turnover and 6 total punts in the last 4 Playoff losses... 3.52 points per drive... 3.9 if you take out the 4 end of half/end of game nothing drives. It's tough to find PPD stats online. I did find a tweet from Jan 4th saying the Cardinals were last in the NFL in PPD at 2.5 and the Seahawks were 29th at 2.2 PPD...

I totally get it was 3 Mahomes and a Burrow... But two of those were Home games... It's so very bad...

    Defensive Head Coach...

    The answer must be BPA.

As much as we have obvious holes at WR, we cannot allow recency bias and need to control our board or we went up with another Elam pick.

I’d rather bring on the best available at a position of need than the 6th best WR because they feel they have to address it early.

That being said, if you like someone, go get that WR. Don’t wait around and panic pick if they aren’t there.

They'll be there this year... There's been 10 WR's I've seen mocked in the 1st round here and there so far. Plenty of things can change, but no way that many go by #28 of course... In fact I'd be surprised if any more than 5 go from 1-27... That would leave the Bills with a player like Legette, Franklin, Walker, Coleman, or Mitchell... There's a good chance 3 out of those 5 will be available. And any of those 5 would be a big time addition.

DK didn't go in the first two rounds either. That was a mistake they won't make again. I expect Leggett to go late first early second.

Oh I know... DK was my guy that year too... I wanted him SO bad... Those posts are still here I think... What could have been... Can you imagine DK with Josh?

  11. 1 hour ago, DCOrange said:

FWIW, Dane Brugler from The Athletic just released his first two-round mock of the year based on what's hearing around the league and he does not have Legette going in the first two rounds. Seems like a lot of people have been turned off from him recently. Obviously plenty of time for that to change though.

Well... I'm not sure what Mr Brugler was watching, or what anyone is saying... But I'll go ahead and trust my eyes... That kid is special...

I get that he's a late bloomer... And yes he does let the ball get into his body from time to time. But he has shown the ability to pluck it in crazy good fashion too. And he pretty much catches everything anyway...so... I really don't see much of an issue with him. He's a power forward with 4.3 speed and crazy body control...

I certainly hope the rest of the NFL is turned off by him. If the Bills get that kind of WR talent at #28 it would be amazing. I love this WR class and a lot of the guys in it. But Legette is my favorite after Nabers and Harrison. He's also a different kind of WR... He's 6-3-227... And unlike a lot of prospects who are rumored to have great speed but don't show it... You can literally see Legette's burst on the field.

I was a massive DK Metcalf fan and wanted the Bills to take him in the 1st instead of Oliver. I think Legette is a mix of Metcalf and AJ Brown as far as his ceiling is concerned. Josh will make him All World...

But I'd definitely live with this outcome too.

Yep... That's my dude this year...

Unfortunately...as the process plays out...I doubt he'll last till #28... Especially if he runs in the 4.3's... B-)

You're actually saying that the defense is so bad Allen should pass up points in the final two minutes of a playoff game he's losing to account for that? Completely ignoring the myriad of things that can go wrong on any subsequent plays. Allen KNEW he loses the game if they score 3, just like we all did. So he tried to do what this pathetic coach has always forced him to do, which is EVERYTHING, all by himself.

No I'm saying the proper strategy is to score with almost no time on the clock and the Chiefs having no time outs... That is the best case scenario and that is EXACTLY what the HC should be thinking about... It's not on Josh... it's the coaching... The Shakir route is actually great because it left the shallow crosser wide open...

And you're arguing for a pass that was incomplete on a game we lost... So... Forgive me if I'm sounding stubborn. If I was coaching the Bills that last 2 minutes we would be headed to Baltimore next week. You stay with the strategy that has us home again... Good luck with that...

All I'm going to say is that your opinion is based on not one, but TWO assumptions.

Assumption one: Had the Bills passed up the open touchdown and taken the drag route instead, they would still ultimately have been able to score a touchdown.

Assumption two: Taking a four point lead would been useless, because the Chiefs would've scored a touchdown to re-take the lead anyway.

Passing up an open touchdown based on assumptions seems foolhardy to me, but we can agree to disagree.

It's a strategy. Nothing is 100% including (obviously) what the Bills did. All I know is this... Best case scenario is you score with less than 30 seconds on the clock and the Chiefs having no time outs... So that is what I'm going to try to accomplish because I'm coaching against the best of the best and I have to be better...

I'm curious: if Dawkins holds his ground against Jones and Allen hits Shakir for six on that play, are you still saying it was a bad decision?

Yep.. 100%... How do you think the game is going to end with Mahomes against that MASH unit with 1:50 left and 2 timeouts?

And besides... He didn't hold his ground because it was a 30 plus yard route. It could have been worse if Jones beats him clean so...

I'm sure you may believe that this is hindsight thinking. But believe me it's not. I was preaching it during the two minute warning and I have witnesses... B-)

I am sorry that your mind is boggled.

Tight window on long developing play for a TD: high risk high reward

Simple pass to your #1 receiver that reaps multiple benefits in the game spot: Low Risk high reward.

what part about this are you not getting? I am not saying that Josh played terrible. He had a good game. But that was a bad decision.

A bad decision made worse by the obvious fact that none of his coaches realized what the proper strategy was there... And they had the entire two minute warning time to go over it with Josh and drill it into his head... The endzone routes very likely helped the fact that Diggs was so wide open. And that was the obvious play. In actuality the perfect play there is for Diggs to get it and get 8.5 yds...Stay in bounds...Sneak it on 3rd for the 1st down...

We were SO close... I just don't think McD's got it in him...

McD isn’t calling the plays.  I understand he should be dictating the strategy but what you’re describing is probably unrealistic for a defensive head coach.  Maybe a defensive head coach is the wrong solution but that’s a different issue.

Right... It's only the strategy I'm talking about... Not the plays...At the 2 minute McD tells the offense we have to play for at least one more 1st down and run this clock... Dial up your best two 5 yard plays...Stay in bounds...Then run it on 1st, probably with Josh, and see if we can get 5 more...Force them to take their TO's bare minimum...

Anyway... Whatever... It just seemed so obvious to me what the proper strategy was... Maybe I'm wrong... I don't know...

Elite QB's and coaches have their way with Sean McDermott. It's just the truth

He will never be able to beat those guys...even with a better team and home field.

That is where we are with this team

Yep... He's a choker... I blame the terrible play call strategy after the 2 minute warning on McD's inability to strategize down the stretch. During the 2 minute warning I had already laid out the strategy in a text to my Nephew...lol... It's so obvious what has to happen there...You need 9 yards first... We had been dinking and dunking them to death all night. Give me your best two plays for short yardage and stay inbounds. Hopefully you get exactly 9 or 10 and it's 1st and 10 from around the 17...Now they have to take their TO's... You run on 1st for sure...But maybe a Josh run so you have an extra blocker... Bully them...You get another 1st and the Chiefs are in BIG, big trouble. No matter what, you play it this way and at least the FG try is closer. Not that it would matter because Bass sucks...

Instead we take a shot on 1st down... Incomplete... Because of course it is... Then the 3rd down is incomplete... And of course...Bass sucks...

    Game over... McD schooled again.

He went for a TD and would have got it without Jones hitting him as he threw.  Can't really complain about that one.

No offense...But of course you can... We needed at least one more if not 2 more 1st downs, then score... That pattern should not have even been available to Josh because of course he's going to throw it. He's Josh Allen and he can't help himself... And sure it's a TD if he can step into it... But he couldn't because it's a 30 yard route, it takes a little more time, and their best defensive player effected the throw. Instead if we throw 2 HIGH percentage 5 yard passes... Or call a Josh run and a pass. Get at least one more 1st down...Then KC has to use their 2 TO's bare minimum... Get another 1st down and worst case scenario it's a chip shot FG with no time left. .

    We blew it... Period...

  20. Absolute choke job on offense late. I cannot express enough how bad those play calls, and the decisions were on 2nd and 3rd down after the 2 minute warning... We want to run the freaking clock. Get one more 1st down minimum... THEN score. 9 yards... We needed 9 yards there and we had been playing that game all night. Two lousy 5 yard pass plays, maybe a Josh run, stay in bounds... Now they have to take their TO's. Get another 1st and they are in BIG trouble... But instead what do we do? 2 passes to the endzone and Bass sucks...The 1st down play was especially frustrating for me because I think that was the primary... Even if we hit it we're up by 4... Probably 3 because Bass sucks...And there's still almost 2 mins left...

That was terrible 2nd half coaching... Just awful. ...That stupid fake punt... This team is cursed with the inability to execute under pressure. No way should we have lost this game. But once again we beat ourselves.

And the fact that we don't have one freaking WR that can make a play on a ball down field when they have to adjust in the slightest is another problem. We go 0-3 on those long balls and most NFL teams get at least one, if not 2 or all three of those...

Well... There's always next year to choke in the Playoffs again...
