Definitely possible... could also be where when they signed him they gave them their word that no matter if there is a spot ultimately for him, that if he comes in and genuinely tries and has an awesome attitude, that they would help him try and catch on with a different team.

So where normally he would keep that in house and in a meeting room or a 1-1 convo with a player, he's saying it publicly because the guy has a reputation that maybe isn't fair or he is working on changing the perception.

Lets hope there is a spot for Claypool.  The guy was a big timer at ND.  Was a second round pick and has ability.  If he plays hard and has a good attitude, I see no reason he isn't part of the WR group this year.  Shakir, Coleman, Samuel, MVS, Claypool and Hollins could be a real nice group for us.

    🤷‍♂️

To be fair, Travis had a lot better production then a 5th round pick.  And was a better passer of the football then Anthony Richardson in college.  The problem was his leg was snapped like a toothpick late last season.

But I am real excited about Coleman regardless who was throwing him the football in college.

He did lead the league in passing yards... 5th in TDs, 3rd in comp% for full season starters, top 5 in sack %, 2nd in NFL in Y/A, NY/A, ANY/A.  Their offense was tops in the league in yards and 2nd in points.

The other 2 guys in his class each received 50+ million.  Burrow went to a super bowl yes, but he's actually missed more games than Tua, and makes 55M AAV.  Herberts AAV is 52.5M on his new deal, he's also never won a playoff game, and the actual team has a losing record in games he's started.

Tua doesn' suck.  But he is a small man, and seems kind of fragile.  Herbert and Burrow are much bigger, and can likely take a lot more pounding.  Yes Burrow had his wrist smashed this past season.  But I just can't see Tua staying healthy through the grind of the NFL season year after year.  But its not my money.

    Hey all,

I’m thinking about making a long weekend trip and going to the Miami game, in Miami.  Is it worth the trip?  Any tips on where to stay or “must try” restaurants?  I’ve been to a lot of games at home and a handful of away games, I know nothing compares to the game day experience in Buffalo, but I’m always down for something new.

Two other hotels to consider are in downtown Fort Lauderdale.  The Riverside and the Hyatt Centrix.

if you want a great Italian meal at an Italian Steakhouse try Runway 84 in Fort Lauderdale not too far from the airport.  Has that Frank Sinatra/Rat Pack feel w live music.  Expensive but a great meal and great experience.

The stadium is real nice to watch a game at.  And there are always a lot of Bills fans at every game in Miami.  The stadium is about halfway between Miami and Fort Lauderdale.

I live in Fort Lauderdale and it’s a great place to live and stay in.  If you have some coin to spend, stay down by the beach at the W Or the Conrad.  Both real nice hotels across the street from the beach on A 1 A. Lots of bars and restaurants down there and on Las Olas Blvd which runs from the beach to downtown Fort Lauderdale where I live.  (2-2 1/2 miles away from the beach)

Weather will likely be hot muggy and sunny in September like it usually is.  And the ocean is awesome too.  It’s a fun vacation topped off w a big Bills victory.

Check out the Elbo room if you like drunk rowdiness across from the beach.  Fun for all ages.  Lol

I don't think they trusted Williams at the mike, calling plays etc..

He was groomed to be outside LB and Dodson just happened to come out of nowhere and be a beast but I do agree that they should have tried some different things out, Klein was clearly just too slow. Still, our O costed us that game. Left at least 13 points on the board

But at the same time, we were better in nearly everey offensive statistical category

    T.O.P - KC - 22:57 Bills- 33:03

    Turnovers- KC 1 Bills 0

    1st downs - KC 21 Bills 27

    Yards KC 361 Bills 368

They killed us on yards per play but pretty clear our strategy was to milk clock , run the ball and take what they give.

The true difference? Chiefs WRs made big time catches, Bills didn’t.

Butker hit his FGs, Bass didn’t.

The difference between these teams is razor thin

Diggs let us down big time in the Chiefs game.  And the defense was shot due to injuries.  And as a result we could not stop the big play.

A lot of you act like this team was ready for the scrap heap because we lost by 3 pts to the eventual Super Bowl champions w a decimated defense.  And a kicker who had no confidence left.

We have gotten rid of ra lot of dead weight in the off-season. (And that includes Diggs and Davis) And I for one am very excited about what this rebuilt roster will look and feel like.

We have a top notch organization and an amazing QB.  And will be a contender again this year.

So Gunner you're just rolling with Von, AJ & Groot?

We signed Toohill and the guy from the Jags.  And then we drafted Solomon. Between all these guys, someone should step up.  And we should blitz a lot w Milano and Bernard and some from the safeties.  Pass rush will be decent if not dominant.

A solid boundary corner would not hurt.  And another guy at TE who has more athleticism than Knox would be nice also.

All joking aside, he should absolutely hold out.  History of concussions, and coming off a great season, on a 1 year deal.  Herbert and Burrow got theirs, what gives?

What great season?  They choked big time against Tennessee on Monday night which opened the door for us.  And then we slammed the door on the final Sunday night of the season.  Tua led the Fish to all of 14 pts against us at home.  And threw a nice pick late.  And then he was frozen out in KC.  He had a good season.  But comes up small against good teams.

I think it would be funny if the Fish were like this is our best deal, take it or leave it.  Its a team game.  Their roster is always too top heavy.  And their O line has been pretty bad at times.  Beane isn't playing that game anymore.  Got rid of Diggs.  Made Von take a pay cut.  Defense is all on reasonable deals.  Only #17 should break the bank.  And he will always take a team friendly deal, because he is about winning first and foremost.

Shakir doesn't have less than Ideal athleticism...  I was using St Brown as a style of wr described.  What makes Shakir a compliment?  His alignment? St. Brown is primary slot with very good yac ability?  Im not saying Shakir is going to be St Brown.  I do think the team will use him more than many expect with the amount of targets available.  Entering his 3rd year I think he will be given every opportunity to have a big role.

I love Shakir’s game.  The TD against the Steelers was a top 5 play in the NFL last year.  He has good hands, is somewhat twitchy and seems to know how to get open.  He will play a big role with the offense this season. And so should Kincaid.  (Hopefully more downfield catches with an opportunity of YAC ).

It will be interesting to see how the offense develops this year w/o Diggs and Davis.  I don’t think you need a big time #1 WR to be successful.  There are really only a handful of those guys in the league anyways.  The way the Packers play their WR’s works fine.  I feel like when the dust settles through training camp, the offense will be ready to go.  With #17 leading the offense we should always be a handful for our opponents.

More so defensively.  The rules changes have favored the offense/scoring, but the size of the athletes offensively have remained about the same.

Everyone talks about the size and athleticism of the players today versus previous eras.

Who was better on defense than Reggie White Bruce LT and Ronnie Lott? No one.  I would put Ray Lewis in there as well.  And he kind of split between two eras.

But one quality that is certainly not better in today’s game is the toughness of the players back then.  Every game was a bludgeoning game of brutality!  That is what made the game so mythical.  Think of Kellen Winslow being carried off the field by teammates in what could have been the greatest game ever played between Miami and San Diego.  Or Gene Upshaw wearing those casts on his arms, etc.  Think of  Darryl Talley period.  It certainly is not like that anymore.

The Panther’s were my second team. They got me through some ROUGH Bills seasons, with 2015 being a perfect example.

That team was light years better than anything we have had in the McD/JA era for one simple reason. …. SWAGGER!

On O, Cam and Josh are equal in this department. Cam elevated a putrid receiver group. His energy was infectious and they expected to score every time.

On D, Kuechly and Davis were MONSTERS!!!! So fun to watch. That D was a turnover creating machine and for those who remember, Boyst kept saying Cam sucked because the D kept giving him short fields.😜 We currently have Douglas who plays with that level of self confidence AND creates turnovers. Maybe Milano gets back to form but he couldn’t hold Kuechly or Davis’ jock in terms of ability.

Most importantly,IMO, This was the Riverboat Ron era at its apex. All caution was thrown to the wind by Rivera and they played straight pedal to the metal on O. McD should have a one on one with his old boss and try to get rid of his risk aversion/ timidness/tentativeness tha this team seems to embody, especially when playing lesser teams( and MUCH TO OFTEN losing).

Kuechly was a great LB.  One of the best of this millenium.  But Davis no way was on Milano’s level.  He had game but wasn’t nearly as physical as Milano.

Ron Rivera has always been an overrated marginal coach.  Better w Carolina.  But his tenure w Washington was an embarrassment.

I'm surprised Dave Gentleman hasn't been hired by the Bills he was the GM for those Panthers . McBeane probably offered him a job Gentleman probably wants to go into retirement.

The Bills are not top heavy talented other then Josh we have no real difference makers on this team. The Bills like hard working culture players and we usually have good depth that's why we've been successful up to this point ntm our division has been pretty much easy the last few years .

Beane doesn't put great priority on speed at the skill positions and that's a skill thats paramount in today's wide open spread game. I liked this draft I believe there's some good football players that have potential to start at some point in the near future. All in all I agree with you it seems like another early playoff exit coming in the future with the same talking points next off-season.

That’s a lazy opinion.  Everyone can run at the skill positions in the NFL. Do you think Shakir is slow?  Ask the Steelers what they think of his movement. Samuel is fast also.  James Cook is fast.  Hell Josh Allen is fast at QB.  We let Poyer and Hyde go because  they got older and slower.  Our LB’s can all move.

And don’t  forget football is a physical game.  You have to be tough in the trenches.  That is how Beane has built the team.  Good on both lines.  Watch the way defenses play now.  Teams keep their DB’s back to take away the deep ball.  No one is overly successful throwing the deep ball now including Mahomes.   It’s a lot of short and intermediate passing, and hope for good YAC.  That’s why Kincaid will feast this year.  And btw he can run also.

THE Bills philosophy has been super solid the past 5 years.  We need to stay healthier on defense this year.  And peak as the season heads toward the playoffs.  Getting rid of Diggs will be good for the offense.  He became a cancer last season and sucked in the playoffs all 4 years.

i am excited about the team with a lot of new players.  As a fan going through the offseason and heading into a new season, all you want and hope for is a solid chance to win.  Beane gives us that every year.  How it goes once the season starts and plays out remains to be seen.  But I love the organization and how we build a team every year.

And yet all he does is win wherever he is, with whatever QB he has. I'll take that coach 7 days a week over lunchpail McClappy.

Players are grown men.  They need to take responsibility for their own behavior.  Some guys get it.  Some guys don't.  Bills don't seem to want to deal with a bunch of immature dumbass players.  And good for them.

As for ripping on McDermott.  He may not be Vince Lombardi.  But he has done a hell of a job with this team over his tenure.  2nd most wins over the past 4-5 years in the NFL.  And the job he did last year keeping the ship afloat after the Eagles loss was tremendous.  6 straight wins.  And but for all the injuries on defense, we would have been playing in the Super Bowl.  No doubt in my mind.  Overall, we have fallen short in the playoffs.  But the team plays hard every week.  And is a contender every year.  And will be this year as well.

I was at that home game against the Raiders which was Joe Collier's last in Buffalo.

The Bills had been a champion caliber team a couple of years prior to 1968.

Collier was on a short leash after a sub-par 1967 season, so two games into the 1968 season, and following a blowout at the hands of the Raiders, he was released.

The fans were singing, "goodbye Collier, goodbye Joe, goodbye Collier, we're glad to see you go'.

One of my vivid memories is walking next to the Raiders defensive end, handlebar mustached, 6' 8" Ben Davidson. It was along side the snow fence that separated the fans from the field in tiny War Memorial Stadium.  Our seats were close to the field on the visitor side. I'd never seen a human being that huge.

Earlier, we had had given a ride to the game for the wife of one of the assistant coaches.  I still wonder if the coaches suspected or were given a hint that it might be the end for the coaching staff if the Bills lost.

Fortunately for Collier, he was able to carve out a nice career in the NFL as a defensive coordinator. R.I.P.

That's an awesome story.  Just picturing everything in my head gave me a big rush.  I was just a toddler.  But life in that era and through the 70's was so different then today's world.  Very cool stuff.

Speaking of Ben Davidson, I was partying on Rush Street in Chicago in the winter of 1987 after graduating college.  Me and some buddies were drinking at a bar and we met big Ben Davidson.  Took pictures with him while he was promoting his Miller Lite Schtick.  Huge man.  And very friendly.  Great memories.

Boy! Crazy stuff going on…. One guys says Oliver was a bust his first three seasons and anther thinks Ed is one of the best in the NFL; both are nuts….

Ed is a solid football player. Nothing special but a decent starter….He can look like an all-pro vs. jags that play him one on one and can completely disappear vs. all-pro guards or double teams.

Ed is actually a decent one-tech as well…solid, but unspectacular….

McBeane probably gets a C for drafting him… Average. Much like Groot, who is also a solid football player but nothing special.

McBeane gets a B grade for drafting him though because he was a much later pick….

PS - Bills desperately need a blue chip type player on the DL. Someone that can make our DL dynamic. Someone that commands a OC’s attention.

That's an interesting perspective.  We do not have a big time stud type of guy on the D Line right now.  But are we really in desperate need of one?  That's seem a bit over the top.  Having a bunch of high motor good D Lineman will work just fine.  And if any can play above that even better.  I would be happy if AJ Rousseau Oliver Jones Von and the rest were "good" every week.  Because they certainly have not been "good" every week.

    and….

    ????

For teams that use 3 WR formations more than 1/2 the time, the Bills have a rookie penciled in at one of the top 3 spots, and then nothing but dumpster diving in terms of WR depth.  If another move is made for a top 3 WR before the start of the season, I will backtrack, but as of today, the room is weak, and any injuries to the top 3 will not be pretty.

Your user name is better than your thought process.  Last years starters were mediocre at best.  Diggs and Davis were nowhere near great or even very good.  Sherfield and Harty were terrible last year-total non factors.  The guys we have coming in will be much better than that.  You don’t need a great WR group to have a very good team.  Coleman Samuel Shakir and a bunch of guys who have potential and our hungry.   Nothing wrong w that.  And add Kincaid and our RB’s and we will be fine w #17 leading the way.  Season hasn’t started yet.  We can always add guys when we have more cap space opening up.

I don't know what happened second half of last year to Diggs, but I don't put it on him alone. I think Brady's scheme and play calling and a lack of a real #2 were as much to blame. With Davis hitting FA, I would have liked to see Coleman added to pair WITH Diggs, not try and replace him.  Now that would have been a WR room - Diggs, Keon, Samuel and Shakir! Could have given DCs fits.

But I think they probably did well to move on from Diggs. They just should have done more to address WR. Our WR room already needed an upgrade with Davis not producing consistently, but then when he left and then they also traded Diggs, more was needed.

Love your username.  You must be a big Twins fan.  I remember him as a real young kid.

I agree about doing more to address the WR position.  I was disappointed that we did not double dip on another potential big time WR in the first few rounds of the draft.  But I think after June 1st with the money coming free from the Tre White contract, we can try and add someone decent at the position.  I have always liked Tyler Boyd from Cincinnati.  And I am sure there are several other guys who can help us out on the market still as well.  But I am excited about Keon Coleman.  He is going to be a big timer.

I think you're both saying the same things:  Diggs was a premier receiver for several years, and he certainly was a key part of the offense.  It's not very likely that we're going to see that kind of production in many coming seasons.

And although I get that Diggs might simply be past the point where he can be again what he was, I expect a good year from him.  He had special motivation when he came to Buffalo.   He was motivated to show that the problem in Minnesota was Minnesota.   2024 he will be motivated in the same sense, to prove it wasn't him, it was Buffalo.  I think the fire that burns in him has been reignited.  The problem for Diggs is that his body's ability to respond to the fire is declining.

Good point Shaw.  It will be interesting to see what he brings to the Texans, who have a good young QB (even though he is a Buckeye) and a pretty good ascending team.  I look forward to us playing them this year.

I am very excited about the Bills this upcoming season.  A change of a lot of players will bring some new juice and feel to the team.  Things get stale after a while.  We did not win a championship with the previous group.  So lets see what this new group can do.
