  1. Bills are a little beat up having lost recent games and having some injured players. This game is exactly the kind of opportunity we'd all have wanted when the year started. Tied with the Patriots with an opportunity to get to the top of the division with a win. Bills are lacking momentum right now, but can get it back with a win today. Not that much separates these teams talent-wise IMO. Hoping for a good game and a good outcome today.

This is the kind of game that turns a season around...particularly with the upcoming schedule that we have...win this one and we play the cupcakes while our guys get healthy for the stretch run...GO BILLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  2. This experiment with our team hasn't worked. It hasn't worked since we made the move for Takeo Spikes and Drew Bledsoe. We thought it was Donahoe, but it wasn't all his fault. Levy came in to "right the ship", but that hasn't worked either. We have some quality players at key positions on our team. I say we clear out the rest and build behind all of the players that I'm about to name. On offense we should keep Edwards, Lynch, Jackson, Evans, Parrish, Hardy, Steve Johnson, Peters, Walker, Chambers, and Fine. I say keep Hardy, Johnson, Chambers, and Fine because those guys are young and could develope. I say clear out the rest. All of them. On defense we should keep Stroud, Kyle Williams, Mitchell, Posluszny, Whitner, McGee, Greer, Corner, Simpson, and McKelvin. I say keep McKelvin, Corner, and Simpson because they're all young, can develope, and are useful in ST in one way or another. Clear out the rest. We also need to clear out the whole coaching staff, minus Schonert and Bobby April. We all know what we're going to get from the rest of the coaches. I don't know if Schonert's been given a fighting chance just yet. April is clearly one of the best at what he does and we should keep him. We shouldn't just go out and release all of the players though. We should try to get compensation wherever possible via trades. Not sure how much we'd get, but atleast try to get something in return for players like Schoebel, Dockery, Kelsay, and whoever else anyone would bite on. More than likely we would have to release most of them.

As far as coaches, I say we go after Titans DC Jim Schwartz for the head coaching job. He's clearly proven his merit in Tennessee coaching that defense over the last 8 seasons. He is a good, young coach that could head up a defensive staff. His ability to coach defense is why the Titans are the only undefeated team left in the NFL this year. I think we give Schonert a couple of years on offense before making a decision on him. Jauron and Fewell though, have to be cleared out of the way.

Here's a list of FA's after this season that I think we should be trying to land as well as possible draft picks. Let's start with WR. T.J. Houshmandzadeh should be high on the list. The rest are all players like any we already have. Housh is a proven player in this league and would be an immediate help while others can have time to develope (i.e. Hardy and Johnson). TE's? We could take a shot on Leonard Pope who has good size and decent ability at the position, but is young and unproven. This is a need that should be addressed in the draft. OL? We could go after C Matt Birk or Jason Brown to fill that need, T Jordan Gross or Mark Taucher to play opposite of Peters, move Walker to a G position, and go after G Stacy Andrews or Jahri Evans to play opposite of Walker. Depending on how the chips would fall in FA, we should address our needs in the draft for the remaining OL. On defense, it would depend on what style of defense we were attempting to play and whom the coach would be. Here's a list of players that I'd possibly like to see in a Bills uni on defense. I think our main objective should be persuing a player like Terrell Suggs. He's a beast of a pass rusher and a potential game changer every time he's on the field. I think he'd play well at DE in a 4-3. DE is surely a position that needs to be addressed in the draft. At LB we could go after Bart Scott, but he'll be 29 next season. We could also go after Michael Boley who's played well for Atlanta the last couple of seasons, but he lacks ideal size. Channing Crowder could also be a good candidate for us to make a run at. He could play the MLB or the ROLB position. LB is a spot that we should address EARLY in the draft going after Rey Maualuga of USC, Brian Cushing of USC, or Aaron Curry of Wake Forest. If we got Maualuga, then we could move Posluszny to the ROLB position. Either of the other two LB's would mean keeping Posluszny in the MLB spot. At the S position, we could go after Sean Jones of Cleveland or Otogwe from St. Louis. I think this is another spot we should hit early in the draft along with LB and DE. I personally think that Whitner would better serve as a FS because he reminds me alot of a young Brian Dawkins. I think that we should be looking for a SS in the draft. Maybe a player like Taylor Mays of USC or William Moore of Mizzou. I think we could have a very solid group at CB. Greer has played well over the last couple of years and McGee is already proven. We also have Corner, who surprised this year in the preseason, and McKelvin who was deemed the best player at the position coming out of college. With Greer we see that it can take a couple of years to come into your own at this position. Now if we can land Gamble or Asomugha, I say we let Greer walk. If not, we should try and retain him. This is not a spot that we need to spend early draft picks on again though.

All of this can be fixed, but I think we need to stop kidding ourselves about our team and hope the organization does what needs to be done here.

Way to post this a half hour before kickoff of a game that can turn our season around for the better...

  3. “BREAKOUT GAME” FOR MOSS?

Posted by Mike Florio on November 9, 2008, 11:56 a.m. EST

Wendi Nix of ESPN reports that Patriots quarterback Matt Cassel plans to get receiver Randy Moss more involved in the offense on Sunday against the Bills.

And Nix predicts that it could end up being a “breakout game” for Moss.

One thing that might motivate Moss is that he’s ranked as the tenth-best receiver in the NFL in the current issue of Sporting News.

Moss often finds motivation from external sources, especially when criticism of him is involved. And he might indeed find extra motivation from the fact that the scouts at Sporting News see Andre Johnson, Brandon Marshall, Steve Smith, Larry Fitzgerald, Reggie Wasyne, Terrell Owens, Calvin Johnson, Anquan Boldin, and Greg Jennings as better than the guy who set the single-season touchdown reception record in 2007.

    -----

    Lets shut him down!!!

I don't quite get that...sure he played well last year but Greer is definitely an improved player and Simpson will be back there and he's a bit better than keeping the game in front of him than Wilson was. I think that's just more of the simplistic journalism.

  4. The thing is, it won't have been just a half (assuming he plays a bad first half, which again I hope doesn't happen). And if the Bills drop 3 straight games and Trent is a major reason, there's a QB controversy whether you like it or not. Hence the reason the backup QB is the most popular guy on any team.

I'm not sure how you can say that Trent Edwards is the biggest reason for the losses though...a reason? Definitely. A mojor reason? I'd say so. But you can't really let the line, coaching, and defensive line off and throw it all on the shoulders of Trent can you? The one play I've been seeing all week is the Dockery whiff that lead to the pick 6. Has he played poorly in the losses? Yes, but the major reason? That's a stretch.

  5. Sorry if that gets some of your panties in a bunch, but it's true. Trent's had 2 straight bad, really bad, games, against division rivals no less. A third bad game likely puts the Bills at the bottom of the division, as I see the Jets and Dols winning today. Since the playoffs are still within reach, if he has a bad first half, I say bench him for JP.

But hopefully it doesn't come to that. JP is gone at the end of the year, and the Bills not knowing if Trent is truly the guy screws them down the line.

Not a chance. JP was in his fourth year...Edwards is in his 2nd. What is he, 10-7 as a starter? You can't pull the plug on the guy so quickly. That's why we have had a carousel of quarterbacks for the better part of the last 10-15 years.

  6. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstopics...rack-Obama.html

Behold, The Messiah of the conservative movement!

It's not her fault. Seriously. The RNC used her. Hell, she probably was made to believe that Barack Obama actually was a domestic terrorist. They took a naive woman who had never met or spoken with Barack Obama and they used her, plain and simple. She didn't decide what to say herself, she was told what to say. She probably didn't even understand what she was actually doing.

  7. guess you want to join his paramilitary group, then?

Yeah...that's exactly what I'll do. I'm going to join his paramilitary group.

Seriously, it's one thing to disagree with his issues but why do some of you nuts go so far. Face it, the guy is not a communist, not a socialist. He may be a liberal, ok, he is a liberal but you do realize the difference from being a liberal and being a Marxist, Communist, etc. 57 Islamic states? Give me a break. There are 57 territories in the U.S. Make fun of him for being stupid or ignorant for his gaffe but to jump to that type of conclusion? Yup, it's absolutely brainless. Sorry, but even the majority of McCain supporters think that this crazy theory would be true.

  8.

This is essentially the SS in the US...

ANd he will kill the coal industry.....

    http://newsbusters.org/blogs/p-j-gladnick/...t-coal-industry

Remember how Obama supposedly gaffed about how he was going to travel to the 57 states...Well, 'Every year from 1999 to 2005 the organization of the Islamic conference representing the 57 Islamic states presented a resolution to the United Nations Commission on human rights called commbating.'

Obama said he's going to campaign in 57 states, and it turns out that there are 57 Islamic states.

I feel like our country is going down somehwere we've never been before....

Just remember, people always say it couldn't happen here..."Ein Volk, ein Reich, ein Führer."

English translation: One People, one Reich, one Leader

Wow, I'm glad everyone is not as simple minded as you. The lack of intelligence is frightening.

  9. Cause those teams are much worse than us....

SF and KC are arguably the two worst teams that we will face all season. And SF is a home game. 8-8 basically concedes we will get swept by the division. Look at the history in this division. That is nearly impossible unless someone goes 16-0. So assuming we just play at our heads, we should be at least 9-7. If we can get our swagger back (not sure what it will take for that to happen though). None of it matters though, if we lose next week we will likely miss the playoffs but if we win then obviously that changes everything. So basically everything rests on next week's game.

  10. Is it me or did our offensive production absolutely nosedive since Reed went out last game. No creativity, a lack of a clutch player on offense, and Hardy is far too underdeveloped. Maybe we should see more of Fred Jackson split out? Why is Turk Schonert so gun shy now? Is it because teams don't pay attention to Hardy except when he is in the red zone? We need Reed back in there. Hopefully he is ready to go against NE.

  11. It was the whole offense that was the problem. There were several plays where Trent had time, and he screwed it up. Then, when they'd go for it on 4th and 1, the o-line wouldn't get a push.

Where were the LBs today? Outside of Poz making a couple plays, there was NOTHING from them. The d-line had issues too, but the LBs sure didn't do anything.

The *only* unit on the team that I thought had an ok day was the CBs.

Oh, and Derek Fine, Lee Evans, and Roscoe Parrish had decent games too. Hopefully this was the coming out party for Fine!

I was very impressed with Fine but the dropoff from Reed to Hardy is extremely considerable. We need #82 back on the field.

  12. I think that they are 'afraid' to let Trent sneak. Only answer to that play call that I can come up with.

Where is the creativity? After Turk mixed it up during the first month we have been vanilla as hell the last two weeks with 1 or 2 exceptions a game. I know Hardy's a rookie and has had the dropsies but throw the guy a slant for God's sake. They were giving him a cushion all game. He's never going to learn if you give up on him so quickly. How many pitches, counters, reverses did we see today? I can't recall any...far too vanilla to be productive...

  13. 1. McIntyre's whiff of a block - Trent's fumble

    2. Jackson dropping the screen.

    3. Edwards pick 6

    4. Failed 4 & 1 attempt - why didn't we run it on 3rd????

If these plays go differently, we are looking at a potential 10 point victory. However, hindsight is 20/20 and we got beat. The problem is, I can't figure out what this all means? Do we just suck at executing? Are we still too young and inexperienced to not beat ourselves? Someone help me out here.

The saddest thing about this game is Mangini got a 10-point swing for his extremely inept decision to take that penalty on the third down. The whole premise of taking the penalty is the assumption that you will stop them on third and longer. They didn't and he was still rewarded. Absolutely ridiculous.

  14. After all of the Schobel hate that's been piled on lately it is clear as day that this defensive line is not even close to the same as it is with him in there. Stroud has pulled a disappearing act the last three weeks. So has Kyle Williams, who we were all praising when he was in there. Let's face it, people don't gameplan around Ryan Denney, clearly they put extra attention on both Stroud and Schobel and everyone wins. When Schobel is out the opposing teams coaching staffs focus on Stroud as absolutely no one else on the defensive line scares them. We need Schobel healthy. He doesn't stink. I think that much is clear now.

  15. What is it that gives you hope we wont play next week like we did today?

    Well,

    A) Obviously we didn't play like we did in our 5 wins by accident and if Trent has time, Lynch has some holes, and our D makes some plays...why can't we play better than we did this week. I think we need Schobel and Reed though, not sure how possible that will be but if they don't play I might well be ready to throw in the towel.

    and

    B) I am terribly unimpressed with the Patriots play this year so far. Their defense has looked like swiss cheese at times, they have more key injuries than we do. I mean, face it, last week a healthy Pats team would likely have won by the slaughter rule at home against St. Louis. Instead they squeak by with a score.

Like I said, if things go the way they did today, yeah we'll lose. But combine the bad play with the bad luck in today's game and you have to imagine that it would be hard to get much worse than it was today.

  16. After next week the best the Ills can hope for is to be tied for last place in AFCE. Sign Peters. Start Hardy every game Extend DJ's extension. Make o-line heavier. Draft day deal so we get lots of 6th and 7th round picks

I'm not ready to concede next week's game. The Patriots have looked average against bad teams e.g. teams we crushed like STL. I just don't think they're as good as their record. Of course if we play like we did today we'll lose but that game is definitely winnable.

  17. OMG!

Wow. When will you all realize it starts with the O-line

and ZERO RUSH OR PASS BLOCKING!!!!

Trent is a VERY good QB stuck behind a crap line. Imagine

what would happen if we actually had a run game, and they didn't

tee off on Trent every play!! Answer me that???

Yeah...the problem is that we aren't built as a team that can go out there and let if fly, especially with Reed out. The lack of opening up a hole in inexcusable. And for those who think it's Lynch's fault, he would have been in negative yardage if it wasn't for his maximum effort. Also there is a good chance he would have made that first down on 4th and 1 if he followed the hole, which Jackson did not. Also would have probably scored last week to at the goal line. Either way, if our line can't open up holes, we won't win many games.

  18. Or post the answer here, because I'm in the same boat. (And I'm not local).

Yeah...I've got a Spikes jersey and a Bledsoe jersey that I'd like to convert. Hell, I may even send my Clements jersey in for a Jackson nameplate if we find someone who would do it...does anyone know if Al Ross takes mail ins?
