I am a little hesitant to believe that rumour. I just can't imagine this coaching staff not using Anthony Thomas more than they did this season were that rumour true. I'm not a big Willis fan, but I'm no hater either and alot people seem to WANT to believe the worst about Willis. I have to hear that one straight from someone in the organization.

I'm not sure what to say, except that it doesn't work that way. Did you think this past season that the Bills should have approached the season like they were gonna win the Super Bowl? Do you think the Texans should approach this season like "This is the year"? If so, your an idiot.

I think the Bills should get a veteran guard and draft a running back. A first-round worthy running back. I just hope that Marshawn Lynch has his head on straight enough that he would be worthy of the pick. I am very worried about the offense regressing, and the long term effect that could have.

It might be better than Green or Duckett, but it would still suck real bad. The Bills are in a big quandry. I realize defense wins championships, but if this offense goes backwards, it could just kill off this core group. If the offense sucks because of the lack of a running game, fingers start getting pointed, Losman loses confidence, veterans are pissed, team is divided. Back to 2005. They aren't gonna win the Super Bowl this year. The offense is close, they have to solidify it this year (get a running back and a guard). They can concentrate on defense next year.

You're crazy. Can't you see that the Raiders bought into idea that he was more than a backup and got burned? This is how I view Dominic Rhodes as well. I dread the idea of either of these guys as the Bills featured back.

The Bills could use a good fullback, but to think of this guy as your featured back is just silly. I'm sure he is hard working, a nice guy, all those things, but there are probably other running backs available (that don't get the hype) that are better. They might even make cookies for the fans, and help old ladies across the street.

No, my point is that you get the best Running Backs, the backs that win Super Bowls, in the FIRST ROUND. You don't just go into a draft thinking " I'll pick up my franchise back in the 2nd or 3rd round". My point is that the BIlls should follow past examples, and the odds. Yeah, Antowain Smith was nothing special, and Terrell Davis was a 6th rounder, but the odds when you draft in the 1st round. I laid it out clearly. I would like the Bills to draft a top ranking, first round talent because for the past 40 years those have been the guys MOST LIKELY to win the Super Bowl

Rudi Johnson, Carson Palmer, Steve McNair, Kevin Jones, LT. No Super Bowl wins. Every SB winner since 2000 except the Bucs has had a #1 draft choice at running back (granted, Bettis wasn't featured). That's what I'm talking about.

I didn't say just any first round running back will do. I don't think Willis is the right guy. But even if the defense is worse than last year and the offense takes off, the Bills will be better off. Basically I think that the offense is fragile. It is the part of the team that needs to solidify, and you need a good running back. You HAVE to keep it going forward or there can be serious confidence problems. If the defense is great but the offense sucks, we are back to a defense that points fingers at Losman, and pissed off veterans dividing the lockeroom. We aren't going to win the Super Bowl this season, we have to BUILD the team correctly. The offense is on the cusp, don't let it fall apart now.

Funny thing is NONE of the guys you mentioned have won a Super Bowl. Yes the vast majority of teams do have a guy that they just get by with, and they don't win the Super Bowl. Every now and then a team wins the SB with just a guy and a GREAT QB. But if you look at the Super Bowl Winners List provided above, they have excellent backs (whether first rounders or not, I mean I be thrilled if the Bills got someone as good as Terrell Davis in the 7th round, it's just not LIKELY, they really need to play the odds on this I think).

Thanx, took some time but I was really interested. I think that unless you have a masterful, one-for-the-ages quarterback (I think very highly of JP, he may even be HOF material, but I don't think he is Elway, Montana, or Manning), you need a super-clutch, take over the game guy, and those guys don't usually fall out of the 1st round.

There are 2 positions that are basically all or nothing, QB and RB, either you got one on he's on the bench, useless. You can draft any other position and if the guys just alright he can still be a starter (move the LT to guard or instead of a #1 receiver the guys a #2), but QB and RB have to be top shelf (please don't mention Brad Johnson, he's is a very rare exception). We don't know much about Marshawn Lynch (work ethic, attitude, etc.), and I don't know if he is the answer, but aside from Peterson (who appears to be out of reach) he seems to fit the Bill (can catch well, can run inside pretty good too). My point isn't that they should draft Lynch, but that I don't think they can waste a 2nd round pick, and they better get lucky. They are in a quandry because they need a back NOW. If they regress, and don't keep building off of last year, I could easily see things fall apart. Like no running threat kills the passing game, Losman loses confidence and or players lose confidence in Losman.....Bad things, very bad things.

I don't think they will either, but I think they should. Perhaps next year, but a letdown this season could pull the team right off the tracks. A bad running game could cause a big letdown.

The fact that most of the repeaters are #1's is interesting as well. There were also alot of #1's on the losing side, but in Buffalo we know the losers don't count right?

I didn't say you need a HOF running back, I think that these numbers give a good indication that the best backs come from the first round (by a large margin) I too am more interested in the BIlls winning a Super Bowl than having a HOF RB There are alot of Super Bowl winners on that list (and more to come that are just becoming eligible) in fact probably more teams that have won the Super Bowl have had a HOF RB than than not (of course winning Super Bowls is a good way to get to the HOF). It's not about the Hall of Fame, it's about when to draft a running back.

We don't know that guns & drugs weren't present (I think it is likely they were). These guys are multi-millioniares in their 20's, with high profile occupations. I mean how much of this stuff goes on with just regular shmucks from Buffalo with $200 on a saturday night? From what I see (and do), alot. I really wouldn't expect anything different from the players (I just hope the organization can contain it as best as possible). I think Cincy is either on the bad side of the local law enforcement officials or having bad luck, and though they may also have a few more problem guys, NO TEAM is all cookies & milk. I have seen some posts that have a draft philosophy kinda like "Well, we need a defensive lineman most badly, so we should use the 1st pick there, then we need a linebacker 2nd most, so we should use the 2nd pick there, and we need a rb after that so in the 3rd", so on & so forth. Then there are the people who say " we should just pick a nice "solid" running back in the 2nd or 3rd. Wrong approach. Sure some 2nd rounders etc, have been very good, but you gotta go for it. Again there are 31 other organizations all trying to get better now. If Willis goes, we need a RB now. NOW is the time. I also looked at some recent drafts (2000-2006), saw alot of busts and average guys after the first 15 or so picks,. I think you gotta play the odds and go 1st rounder. Apparently, Lynch and Peterson are the choices (I don't want Turner).
