  1. My job is decent, it's just the people I have to work with. I work installing specialized alarm systems at Nursing Homes and Hospitals. One guy gets a call on his cell phone from either a family member, buddy, or someone with his second job every 20 minutes so he has to stop whatever he's doing to talk for 5 minutes. Another guy complains about how slow things are going, but he's the slowest person I've ever worked with. Has no slow/medium/fast speeds, just slow. I can get 3 units installed in the time it takes him to do one, because he's always stopping to question the placement of a unit, or looking at his tools. Not looking for a tool, just looking at them. Another guy keeps changing the wiring scheme so we either have to wait and see if he changes them again, or quickly get them wired up before he changes his mind.

But the pay is decent, so I'm going to keep working for them, until something better comes along.

  2. Bottom line is if you get pulled over put your hands on the wheel so they can see your not reaching for anything. Follow what the officer asks of you, and odds are you will either get your ticket reduced or they might even let you go.

Here's what else I do when I get pulled over.

Pull far over, get the passenger side wheels off the pavement. This gives the officer room to position his vehicle as a shield while he's standing next to yours on the drivers side.

Turn off your vehicle, take the keys out and place them in front of you on the dash. This way he can see them as he walks up, and knows you can't quickly turn the vehicle back on and take off.

If it's dark out, turn on your interior lights, so he can see inside the vehicle. This way as he's approaching, he can see if someone is hiding inside waiting to jump out at him.

    Follow KzooMike's advice above.

In the last 15 years since I've had my first vehicle, I've been pulled over about 10 times for various things. Not one ticket when doing the above procedures.

  3. Peter Trapp

I would have thought they are no longer feasable.  Too many good deals on the Net.  I wouldn't be too suprized if it was from a lack on interest from dealers.

I've been to many a show in Syracuse and they used to be quite good.  Last one I was at was Spring 2004 and it was less than half of what they used to be.

One place I worked we'd call it the 'Peter "Get Trapped"' show, because on Monday there would be several people bringing stuff into the store to be tested that they had bought at the show, and weren't sure it was working correctly. Some would balk at paying a $45 diags fee. We would explain that they didn't buy the part/item from us, so we would have to charge them, and if they had bought it from us/locally, we wouldn't charge.

  4. I'm thinking of getting a device for work, but can't think the name of it. Something similar to an anal probe, that we would use to see inside of walls. Example, drill a small hole, insert this flexible tube that has a lens on one end, and viewfinder on the other, to see any pipes, studs, etc in the wall. But I can't think of what it's called to begin doing a google search for details/prices.

  5. Actually what seems thin here is that folks don's take any note of the fact that separation by race in the society this school operates within is such that there is but one person who is a  "Black Girl" in this school.

Anyone who find racial division in this society troubling should find this troubling.

Anyone who believes in fairness and agrees that separation in schools in inherently unequal as our Supreme Court does should find this troubling.

The fact that the girl was identified this way does not appear malicious and I would think is not a real problem.. The fact that she could be identfied as the sole person meeting this description though says a lot about society.

I don't find it troubling. I grew up in a small town in Central/Northern NY. I can only remember 3 black students in my entire 12 years in school there. This was out of a student body of about 1,000 students (K-12th). It's all a matter of location. I did some work recently in Brooklyn at a large hospital. I was in the minority there. Didn't bother me at all.
