  2. OOPS! I forgot, great article but I agree with those who say Smerlas was a bad example.
  3. Link When Chan Gailey first observed wide receiver James Hardy on the practice field a few months back, his impression mirrored the one that scores of Bills' fans have of the 2008 second-round draft pick. "I thought at the start of OTAs that he was just average; that's exactly what I thought," Gailey said. Gailey comes across to me a very honest guy with his players. ___________________________________________________ "I feel that I still have the talent to be a dominant receiver in this league," said Hardy, stating an opinion that was held by scouting director Tom Modrak and former coach Dick Jauron when they drafted him 41st overall. "There's nothing that coach can say that could motivate me more than I'm motivating myself. It's an honor for him to see that I'm coming along, but at the same time, I'm self-motivated. I really don't need (anyone) to say anything or critics to critique me because I critique myself more than any possible human could do." -----------------------------------------------------------------------
  4. Let's get this out of the way now for the trolls. Yes, it doesn't mean the Bills will be winners. So now that I've made that point for you feel free to leave. What are your favorite player and FO quotes since January? ''It's all business and no jacking around,'' defensive lineman Chris Kelsay said. ''They want to win. They want to win now.'' Link Gailey said after the evening practice that he did not talk to the players about the altercation. “That’s part of football,” he said. “You got passion about the game, it’s going to come out. Sometimes it comes out the wrong way.” I love it! Choose your battles wisely. ____________________________________________ “Stuff like that happens. No hard feelings,” Hangartner said. “And it’ll happen again with somebody else before this camp’s over with I promise you. Their bringing an angry mentality to the field but are still teammates! ____________________________________________ “I think it’s a little bit less of a big deal than everybody makes it out to be, but it is what it is, it’s a physical game,” Maybin said. “Emotions are always going to be a little bit higher because you have pads on. So it is a little bit of a heightened emotional level.” Maybin joked that he and Hangarner will likely continue “talking trash in the locker room.” Once again it seems like a team atmosphere. ____________________________________________ Guard Eric Wood profanely hollered at Stupar to “run him over.” A moment later, Wood used some choice language again, yelling in Maybin’s direction something to the effect of “give back some of that money you ain’t earned!” Somebody had to say it to him! Don't ask me for links but it's just a feeling I have that Maybin was lazy last year. I think Wood's comment may be based on watching Maybin last year. He seems the type to get disgusted with people who aren't working hard and pulling their weight. ____________________________________________ “Yeah, tensions do rise,” Wood said. “It’s the game of football. I mean, Stroud yelled it, it’s football.” ____________________________________________ And those are from the past three days!
  5. I'm positive that when Buffalo plays NE he roots for NE. I have never wanted the Bills to beat the Pets twice as much as I do this year, and that's sayin sumpin. Fixed! I'm sorry I didn't see a thread for your birthday. Happy Birthday Buddy!
  6. FWIW, Rotoworld is reporting that Adam Schefter thinks CJ will be the last number one signed this year. http://www.rotoworld.com/content/clubhouse...amp;majteam=BUF ESPN's Adam Schefter predicts that C.J. Spiller will be the last first-round pick in the league to sign a contract. This meshes with an NFL Network report Friday that essentially stated the Bills weren't anywhere near to signing Spiller. While running backs don't necessarily need as many practice reps as other positions, Spiller is in a battle for touches in Buffalo. A lengthy holdout wouldn't help his chances. Source: Adam Schefter on Twitter Ralph isn't cheap there was a thread here a few weeks ago proving that with actual facts. I'm disappointed in Spiller. I was sure he wouldn't be a holdout. I understand slotting but I don't remember ever seeing signings going in order of pick, ever. The Bills and Spiller's agent have a very good idea of what it's going to take to sign him right now. JMO ETA: With so many first round picks still unsigned I think the rookie salary cap is gonna be an issue the NFL will not back down on.
  7. That and Parrish over Hardy are the only real surprises to me. Hopefully the Bills will finally get some production from McCargo. It would be a very pleasant surprise.
  8. Jauron may have gone to Yale but Gailey has a lot more common sense and wisdom, IMO. We forget that the players are barely men and mostly still just kids. Kids need discipline and direction to maximize themselves. It seems like Jauron treated them like men all the time. Gailey treats them like men when he can, (i.e. I haven't heard of morning air horns) but provides more discipline, encouragement and much higher expectations for them to maximize their talents and seems to loathe excuses. Under Jauron the players were happy and thought they were doing what it took to win because their coach believed they were doing what it took to win. Now the coach is telling them that they need to do a lot more in order to win and despite having to work a lot harder they seem to like it more. When this starts paying dividends in the number of wins I expect these kids to become even more motivated and confident. (In my best Martha Stewart) That's a good thing.

  10. The reason it wasn't asked it's very, very, very unlikely anyone would say yes. JMO Well maybe for a new laptop!
  11. Thanks, I couldn't remember where I'd heard that before.

  13. There are so many questions about this team I can't wait til the first pre-season game.
  14. Jerry: Elaine danced? George: It was more like a full bodied dry heave set to music. Jerry: Did she do the little kicks and the thumbs? George: What, you mean you know about this? Jerry: For some time. It was about five years ago. I never knew what to say to her about it. It was one of those problems I hoped would just go away. George: Well, sometimes you can't help these people 'til they hit rock bottom.
