The Bills should try trading to the very back of RD 1
billybob replied to 1billsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
1. Derrick Harvey reminds me a little bit of Michael Strahan 1a many mocks have Kenny Phillips falling all the way to the giants not if I could help it- let him and Simpson fight it out 4a Marcus Monk- injured beginning senior year when he came back he wasn't close to 100% - I think he was downgraded too much- and is a steal in the 4th -
People say you can't judge a draft until 3 years later- and you say I shouldn't bring up something that happen 3 years ago- what a sweet Job - must be a Republican
-
If you pick someone at a much higher spot than conventional wisdom has him- if he does well you are a maverick genius and deserve more money, if he does poorly then you're stupid and should be fired - harsh but true - if you pick with conventional wisdom than less risk and less reward. Case in point Ngata and Whitner, if Ngata continues to improve like he did from his first to second year the Whitner pick is going to look worse and worse.
-
I agree- I don't know if any of these WRs are 1# round worthy let alone the 11 pick- I'm taking the best Lineman OL or DL at 11- I'd consider CB but isn't one of the purposes of the cover two to eliminate the need for high price CBs- I was Disappointed the Bills didn't get one of the free agent WRs because the odds of a rookie WR or TE improving the Bills offense in 2008 is slim- well I still have hope the Bills might make a trade or get a good WR in the second phase of free agency.

hey that only two more TDs than Josh Reed has - in his career
-
I think Hardy and Thomas have the most long term potential - but Sweed and Jackson have the best chance of helping someone right away.
-
I'm surprised Wilford went to Miami - I thought he resigned with the Jags which is why the Bills didn't take a shot- my bad- yes Reggie Williams had 10 TDs but overall he's getting paid like a a high #1 draft pick and playing like a a decent #2 WR same with Matt Jones- as for being busts I think that depends on what they are being paid- if you are getting paid like a high class 1# WR and playing like a ave #2 then you are a bust- if you are being paid a salary that reflects your performance then you're fine by me- meaning I wouldn't trade for either of them and inherit their salary but if they got cut and were willing to get paid in line with their production I'd take them.
-
The Jags have added Jerry Porter and Troy Williamson - Mike Walker should be returning from knee surgery and the Jags have spent money signing Dennis Northcutt and Earnest Wilford- Those moves lead me to believe that they will try to move or more likely end up cutting Reggie Williams and or Matt Jones. So my question is would you be unhappy if the Bills didn't draft a WR in the first three rounds of the draft but picked up Reggie Williams or Matt Jones

Alright, here's a trade scenario that should make all the

Bills swap 1sts with Minnesota and give Minnesota Josh Reed- in return they get Sidney Rice, and Minnesota's 3rd round pick. Bills draft 1. Devin Thomas WR 2. best db available 3a, 3b, best TE, and OL -
There's rumors circulating at the owners' meetings that

I think Atlanta is a good fit for JP- I think Atlanta will use their 1st on a lineman and one of their 2nds on a QB- JP could be a good transition QB for them- while they get a young QB ready- Rodney White is their #1 WR which leaves Laurent Robinson and Michael Jenkins fighting for #2 and #3 - Robinson 6,2 with 4.37 speed has more upside but Jenkins 6,4 has been a good redzone target getting 7 TDs in 2006 and 4TDs in 2007- either one would upgrade our WRs -
I like JP better than TE but I still want him traded - look at the 3 possibilities of him backing up TE - 1. he doesn't get to play therefore keeping him is a waste 2. he plays but badly again a waste 3. he plays well and then we are back to QB controversy - I like none of those situations.
-
Oh and thinking that any rookie WR is going to help the Bills win games this year is like looking for a lotto ticket to solve your money problems - it might happen but the odds are slim.
-
Still better than our current #2 WR- you are not going to get an all-pro for Losman- Laurent Robinson has upside and Michael Jenkins while not a star by any means has shown the ability to be a redzone threat, 4 TDs last year and 7 TDs the year before
-
Thinking about the the Bills getting ready to make a playoff run 1. Losman to Atlanta for WR Laurent Robinson or Michael Jenkins- Atlanta will probably draft a QB in 2nd round but could still use a QB that could generate a little excitement while the rookie gets ready- the Bills would receive an adequate #2 WR draft 1st Derrick Harvey - the Bills want a quality DE and CB if the Bills get the CB first the chances of getting a DE in the later rounds is slim 2nd Charles Godfrey CB- at least 4 CBs will be taken before the Bills but could be as many as 7- Godfrey would seem to have nice assets for the cover2 and good special teams ability 3rd Martellus Bennett -Bills need more redzone targets and this guy qualifies 4a Duane Brown OT - Bills need an O-Lineman who can fill multiple positions 4b Adarius Bowman WR- slow as dirt but so was Anquan Boldin and he turned out ok 5th Owen Schmitt- guy isn't going to last long in the NFL the way he leads with his head but he should be fun to watch for the short time he's here. rounds 6-7 Bills look for KRs to take pressure off McGee

get a 5th to trade down 15 spots? you'd expect a 2nd

Undersized combined with no belief in an off season training regiment makes me wonder if Schobel gonna drop like an anchor.

Mock drafts going forward

Trade rumors involving Detroit's pick at #2.

my best quess has detroit trading down with tampa- for their 1st 2nd and 3rd - taking Adam Gains with the 4th pick and then trying to move back into the first round for Willis. -
This is the what's going to happen draft day

Weddle does last to the third round - RB - is taken care of by the Turner trade- people just are lazy readers- the dead man in plaid shoes never lies - Kurt says hi -
the tape says he was usually the fastest guy on the field who cares what he times after a minor injury

The dead man with the plaid shoes never lies -
Tampa is going to give detroit their 1st 2nd and 3rd to move up to take Calvin Johnson at 4 Detroit is going to take Gains - Detroit is going to give Buffalo picks 34, 35, and 68 to move up to 12 to take Patrick Willis - Buffalo is going to take the following. 2a Jon Beason LB 2b Justin Durant LB 2c Tank DeMarcus DT 3a Fred Bennet CB 3b Eric Weddle S 3c part of Turner trade with 2008 2nd 4th Laurent Robinson WR 6th Nate Ilaoa RB/FB 7a Matt Trannon WR 7b Courtney Brown CB that's what the dead man with the plaid shoes says and he's never wrong

Detroit's WR Mike Williams will surely get traded or cut.
billybob replied to Tipster19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Mike has to understand one thing - you can only get away with being a pain in the a$$ if you are great- if you are not great you better be a model citizen- and mike ain't great. -
The Lions really want Patrick Willis and may try to
billybob replied to Tipster19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'd love C. Johnson but I'd take more than our 1st 2nd and 2 3rds to move up to pick 2 - but I will give you an unlikely Scenario - Tampa deciding that C. Johnson will not fall to them and not wanting to spend their 1st, 2nd and 3rd to move up to 2 decides to move down- the Bills trade pick 12, 43, 92, and 2008 3rd to move up - Tampa's wrong and some combination of Russel, Thomas, Quinn, or Peterson go in picks 1-3 leaving C. Johnson for the Bills. This would be a really bold move cause if neither of the QBs were taken then the Bills would be screwed. -

OK crazy trades I thought about - Tampa trades their 1st 2nd and 3rd for detroit's 1st or Atl trades picks 8, 39,44, 75, and 2008 2nd for detroit's 1st - with either trade Detroit seeks to get back to the first round getting some combination of Gains, and Willis, or Laundry.
