  1. How the league office can compel a team to play its starters is difficult to see in execution.
  2. Keith Ellison being the best example. He'd be a backup on 75% teams in the NFL, yet he's a starter for the Bills (prior to going on IR)
  3. Once the Colts pull their starters in the 2nd half, the CBS camera people may be more willing to pick up some shots of Cowher signs
  4. New Years Day used to be such a huge day. Waiting till Thursday for the BCS championship has definitely taken the luster off NYD. And Chi-Fil-A Bowl? What's with that?!!
  5. Dream scenario would be Weis as OC. But as HC? Agree with your:
  6. Pats stayed at the Hyatt a few years ago. But not sure where they've been staying in recent years.
  7. Agreed. Kelly and Thomas (especially the latter) I don't suspect have some daily view and strong influence on the goings-on at One Bills Drive. So use the art of public persuasion / pronouncements to try to influence the thinking. Can't say I blame them for trying.
  8. With one of the weakest quarterback classes in years, I really wonder whether we could draft a QB at our pick position
  9. I have no doubt they're willing to make a record-setting offer. But are they also ready to offer record-setting offers to hire the calibre of assistants that Cowher would want to bring in?
  10. Do we really have the full case history on Leach's employment file? The James case is getting the bulk of the press on Leach. But until we see Leach's full employment file and citations for contravening his employment contract, asserting that TT "ruined their football program because of a whiny kid" is disengenuous.
  11. Is anyone starting to tune Schoop out when he rants about the Bills?
  12. The game all about marketing, marketing, marketing. The NHL ranks below college football and college basketball on the radar screen in the US. They're doing anything they can to increase the exposure for the product. And coincidentally, they're clever to do it right in the thick of college bowl season when talking heads are all talking about bowl games . And poof, we switch over for a short report on this hockey game being played outdoors at Fenway Park, or Soldier Field, or Ralph Wilson Stadium, or Yankee Stadium (next year?).
  13. Ditto for using using a #1 draft pick on Marshawn Lynch after trading McGahee to Baltimore (but that trade at least yielded us some draft picks)
  14. Leach exposed himself as a classless goon on ESPN tonight. Leach probably has some twisted S&M fantasies that he plays out with his wife. How else to explain locking up a 20 year old kid in a closet for 3 hours.
  15. I'll be watching. I'll watch the Bills anytime, no matter how many warts and problems they have.
  16. I'm renewing. I love the Bills, for all their warts and challenges. And whoever the signal caller this team decides is the best they can place on the field, I will support him and the team.
  17. I could also see Edwards on Denver, as Chris Simms is not the answer as the backup to Kyle Orton. Josh McDaniels is the type of quarterback-friendly coach that could give Edwards the coaching and grooming that he lacked from the mediocre trio of QB coaches / OCs he played for here that you mentioned And quarterbacks can be resuscitated into serviceable quarterbacks or at least reliable backups. Look at what Shanahan did with Jake Plummer in Denver
  18. While the Bills gear looks good on him, what actually makes the picture great is the snow falling around him.
  19. Finally, some sanity Levitre, Wood, and Byrd are promising young players to build from. Maybin ... time will tell ... few DEs have a major impact in their first few years like linebackers. He's a project as many people have acknowledged and we have so little data upon which to form a definitive assessment. He hardly played. And who knows what the future holds if he was to move to the outside LB position.
  20. There is precedent for it working. Schaub moved on from Atlanta to have decent success with the Texans. They key is to avoid bringing in a journeyman backup like Kelly Holcomb or Ryan Fitzpatrick
  21. Asserting that you're not interested in the job is a good negotiating ploy and a way to raise the amount the other side is willing to pay. Schottenheimer may in fact not be interested but if he is, asserting he's not may elevate what he could be paid.
  22. You think the "insider" may be someone who could have had a passing interest in the job and wasn't called?
