McDaniels trying to be a Bellichek Jr.
Fingon replied to Jeff Wright's Mullet's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I can't think of a situation where a gun slinger has done well with sub-par talent around him. Even Favre was terrible for a few years because of it. Cutler makes so many bad decisions, that I don't think it will be pretty... especially when he decides to jam the ball into a tight window when no one is open... or throws into double or triple coverage. -

And the other isn't a product of his system? I wouldn't hold my breath on Cutler doing well in Chicago, as gun slingers with no one to throw to are bad news. -
Change your misleading title. (and no, it won't happen)

Who is Cutler going to throw the ball to???
Fingon replied to BWRiley585's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The Broncos are so talented on the offensive side of the ball, that whatever QB they insert will have a tremendous advantage when he's developing. Also, it's likely that the Broncos will spend both 1sts on defensive players, and should improve their defense significantly. The Bears WR numbers are so terrible, because they let their only good one go... and they are full of #3s. There is no debating that besides Forte and Olson, the bears don't have much talent on O. -
Rumor: Cushing and Matthews test positive for steroids?

Does it really matter? If they did test positive, then don't NFL teams already know it? -

WRs have the same (or higher) bust rate as QBs, and it's not as hard to get the game managing QB McDaniels wants. -

The bears are relying on Pace to protect Cutler... which is very risky. They have no WR's either. -
NFLDraftBible.com reports that Florida WR Percy Harvin, Illinois CB Vontae Davis, and UTEP K Jose Martinez all tested positive for marijuana at February's Combine. The website also claims that USC OLBs Brian Cushing and Clay Matthews tested positive for steroids. Information like this is sometimes circulated by teams in hopes players' stocks will fall and no other reputable sources have picked up the reports to this point, so take this cautiously. Harvin, Davis, Matthews, and Cushing are all projected first-round picks. Apr. 3 - 1:51 am et http://www.rotoworld.com/content/HeadLines...L&hl=141999 All unconfirmed at this point, but if it's true... i doubt Curshing and Matthews will be 1st rounders.

A growing list of NFL teams have confirmed that they will attend Cleveland State basketball player J’Nathan Bullock’s workout, according to a league source. On April 10, Bullock will try out at tight end for the Buffalo Bills, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Chicago Bears and the Cleveland Browns. The 6-foot-5, 245-pound basketball standout is a former honorable-mention all-state football player from Flint, Mich. Bullock is hoping to follow in the footsteps of San Diego Chargers Pro Bowl tight end Antonio Gates, who played basketball at Kent State. Bullock is the fourth all-time leading scorer in school history, averaging 15.4 points last season. In high school, Bullock played every skill position as well as defensive end and linebacker. http://www.profootballtalk.com/2009/04/01/...-for-nfl-teams/ This guy is a sleeper.

What an incredibly vile taxation by Obama &Co.

Yet, the national debt never decreased under Clinton. The surplus was nothing more than smoke and mirrors, since we were still borrowing money. -

They gave up two 1sts and a 3rd. It will be very hard to make the offense good without depleting the defense. Cutler is not the type of QB that will be able to do well with nothing. Also, Schlereth and Dilfer were talking about this earlier, and seem to agree that the bears have screwed themselves. Cutler's strengths are being able to hold onto the ball a long time and finding the open receiver down field... or jamming it into tight holes. He can't do any of that from his back. (not to mention no one can name a Bears wide receiver). I'd imagine he will either throw it a lot less, or throw a ton of INTs trying to get it to his receivers. If he had gone to the Vikings, i would say he would have had a good shot at success. -

I'm not optimistic about cutler being a franchise QB in Chicago. They have no supporting cast, and cutler will be what Brett Favre was a few years ago... an INT machine who forces a lot of passes. What's more, they traded away any hope of giving Cutler some talent to work with. Cutler will most likely have 20+ INT's next year, and be sacked at least 40 times. The Bears are on offense what the Broncos are on defense... terrible. -
Comment: Kelsay is a five-year veteran that has been extremely consistent and durable defender for the Bills. He has average size, good athleticism and plays with a high motor. He is a tough, competitive player who is a sound technician. He has great initial quickness to close ground and get into blockers early in the play. He reads and reacts quickly as well as using his hands effectively to maintain leverage in his gap responsibility. He anticipates well and can gain an advantage as a pass-rusher on long-yardage situations. Kelsay isn't a powerful player, but he has enough strength and uses effective pad level to anchor well versus the run. He is a fluid athlete who uses excellent lateral quickness and agility to chase down plays from the backside. He runs well and shows good range to stay active to the pile. He has a variety of pass-rush moves and counters, but he doesn't reset well if engaged early in the play. He is more of a finesse player than a power defender who is best when on the move. Kelsay continues to be a productive player with effort, instincts, technique and quickness. He is good vs the run, and has had quite a few stuffs over his career. Granted, he isn't a good pass rusher, but his run defense isn't a problem.
-
Kelsay is good against the run. Our problem is that we DON'T have a speed rusher outside of Schobel.
-
Isn't he more of a 3-4 DE? Kelsay is good against the run, so i'm thinking a situational pass rusher who can contribute right away will be best.

Anyone else think Crank 2 looks like it will be a really !@#$ing fun movie? -
They may have dipped their toes, but i doubt they were ever comfortable offering anything close to what the bears did.

Unless it was the Bronco's intention to trade him all along. The trend in the NFL is toward very accurate QBs that can work the middle of the field... it doesn't surprise me that McDaniels would want a QB like that. -
Except Chicago doesn't have the Offensive line or receivers for him to gun sling.

Orton and 2 marginal 1st rounders for Cutler?
Fingon replied to Cornerville's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Ouch... Schlereth and Dilfer basically just said the the Bears got hosed in this trade. They said Cutler wouldn't be very good in Chicago. -
Raji tested postive for drugs at combine...
Fingon replied to Alphadawg7's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yes, but even without testing positive.. Raji wasn't a top 5 pick. He has too many negatives compared to other prospects. This will make him slide even further. -

Sapp ran in the 4.6's at the combine... while being very overweight. They are not similar players.
