  1. But that's the whole point - the prosecution has to PROVE that it was murder and PROVE that it was not self defense. All they've done so far is try to throw doubt into the mind of the jury -- but the law says the prosecution has to PROVE, not just make the jury doubt the defenses story. And they haven't done that at all.
  2. This is the best tweet I saw about their case: The state appears to be trying to create doubt about #Zimmermanon9 's story rather than proving the case beyond a reasonable doubt.
  3. Surprisingly, the judge ruled AGAINST allowing the child abuse charge to be an option. That shows how out of left field that one was that even she vetoed it!
  4. Are we going to have any memorable lines in the closing arguments? Instead of, "If the glove don't fit, you must acquit," how about, "Trayvon ate Skittles, so you must acquittle!" (I'm sure someone else can do better )

  6. If we're talking about weird class titles, two of the courses I took at the University of Minnesota (and I'm not making this up) * History of High Tech Weapons (History department) * Killing (sociology department) Almost didn't get my first job out of college because some people in the company were concerned about these classes on my transcript. I wanted to take a class called "The Color Red" -- but couldn't fit it in my schedule.
  7. The Genie only has 1TB of storage, which was a little disappointing. I've already hacked my main DVR so that it has a 1TB drive in it, and we're routinely only 20% free. Granted, part of that is because we record more than we watch - I have two seasons of "Once Upon a Time," an entire season of Hawaii Five-O, etc, on there - because I want to maybe watch it eventually... But I'd expect this thing to have at least a 2TB drive. Then again, I haven't looked at whether it's easy to hack it either... EDIT: After a quick search, it appears hacking it is just as painless as the old receivers...
  8. You really thought the judge would make a ruling in favor of the defense? Silly rabbit, Trix are for kids! Judge rules against both texts AND video. Which is what I expected, given the history. Strange that she didn't state the REASON for not allowing the texts though... http://legalinsurrection.com/2013/07/breaking-jury-will-not-get-to-see-trayvon-fighting-texts/
  9. With the way this judge has been going, if Zimmerman is found guilty of even something as minor as jaywalking before getting beat by TM, the case will be sent to appeal in an instant.
  10. I expect him to say, "He's black" if he knew Martin was black. But he didn't definitively know.
  11. "They" are politicians. It's already come out in trial that there was a lot of pressure to prosecute this specific case.
  12. Angry Trayvon game: http://www.neowin.net/news/angry-trayvon-android-game-sparks-outraged
  13. Is the DA allowed to call any more witnesses? I don't know court procedures, but I thought once the prosecution rests, the defense brings up witnesses, and when they're done, it's closing statements and off to jury.
  14. So this job listing isn't real...? http://www.careerbuilder.com/JobSeeker/Jobs/JobDetails.aspx?APath=2.21.0.0.0&job_did=JHS5475VMT1384HN2B0&showNewJDP=yes&IPath=JRKV0I First thing I thought of when I heard 'Biochem" was "You get to make new flavors for foods at General Mills!" Because I know people (ok, one person) who have done that with a biochem degree.
  15. My wife has a degree in psychology from one of the better schools in the country. Even she admits it's worthless. Of course she has turned it into a successful career -- she now runs a drug and alcohol rehab center. Not the most glamorous work and it isn't the most exceptional of pay, but it's much higher than average. She's just proof that hard working people will be successful and lazy people won't.
  16. Will the defense call any witnesses? Do they have to?
  17. Again, the state has to prove, with evidence, their story. They brought a criminal law professor that Zimmerman took a class from on the stand (via Skype...) to prove that... And, once again, there's still no proof.
  18. State's witness just said that Zimmerman wanted to be an attorney and eventually a State prosecutor, not a cop. There goes the "wannabe cop" angle.
  19. Actually, he said, "Thank God." That's a little stronger than a simple "good." If that isn't reasonable doubt right there, then I don't know what is.
  20. HLN handpicks people to make whatever statement they want. And the MSM has been calling this a racial killing since day one. And regardless -- you do realize that "11 out of 12 jurors don't find Zimmerman's story credible" means he's found not guilty, right?
  21. You ignore the facts and state your opinions as fact... The LEAD INVESTIGATOR said he believes Zimmerman is telling the truth. Why do you think he isn't? And why should we listen to your opinions over that of the lead investigator? The other fact you keep ignoring (aside from the fact that Martin was mere steps from his home when he turned around to find Zimmerman - again, according to prosecution witnesses) is that when told there was video of the event, he said, "Thank god!" Does that sound like a guilty man?
  22. The lead investigator says he believes Zimmerman's story. How many crimes have you investigated? You'll forgive me if I take the word of a professional over an Internet lawyer wannabe, mmmkay?
  23. I don't know the laws, but I'm pretty sure it's excusable when someone is bashing your head into the cement. Again, when Zimmerman was told there was video footage of the attack, what was his response? "Thank God!" Does that sound like something a guilty person says?
  24. Back to facts (that some people here don't care about). The lead investigator (Serino), another witness for the state, was on the stand. Here's what happened (from LegalInsurection): And they ended the day with this: The state has no case, and they know it.
  25. If someone was following you, and you were a few steps away from your house (as the state's witness said), you'd turn around and walk a few blocks back to the "stalker" and attack him? Really? That's not stand your ground.
