  1. The movie rating system is not a law - it's a set of guidelines put forth by the MPAA. There is no law that stops movie theaters from allowing people under 17 to watch an R rated movie - it's all self-policed, and if a theater lets your 10 year old in to watch Friday the 13th, there's nothing illegal about it.
  2. Where's the obligatory shiv post....? Gotta agree with everyone else here, Pooj - let it go. It's just a job -- that doesn't define the person.
  3. True... But keep in mind that the IRS will generally wait until the last minute before auditing you -- because they can charge you interest from day 1. So if they wait a couple of years, you owe a lot of interest on that $1,200... Food for thought.
  4. Exactly! When I moved from Minnesota to Wisconsin in the middle of the year, I contacted Minnesota and Wisconsin to ask how to do my taxes as a part-year resident. They both gave me different answers. I contacted them both a second time... And received two more answers (a total of 4). So I decided to pay H&R Block to do it, just in case. That turned out well, because my wife decided she wanted to try working there part time and she really liked it (and we got several free returns done). That led her to want to go back to school to get her MBA. Now as soon as the economy improves, she'll be able to use that degree somewhere.....
  5. You can file an amended return....
  6. That's fine. We're obviously going to disagree and there's nothing either one of us can do to change the other's mind
  7. Actually, my wife works in the drug and alcohol field -- so I"ve read a lot of the papers and research that she's brought into the house. Thanks.
  8. And you've done how much scientific research on this...? Yeah, that's what I thought.
  9. Therapy/counseling are important, yes, but the whole "support" and "thinking positive" and "smiling" is just BS. That works if you're sad, not if you have clinical depression. So what "can't see" diseases do you believe are real, since anorexia, bolemia, alcoholism, and depression aren't "real" diseases to you? (and I don't know where you stand on chronic fatigue syndrome either, but I'm guessing you're with Pooj and the "lazy" line of thought).
  10. Yes, I disagree 100%. Clinical depression is caused by a chemical imbalance in the brain. Simply telling someone to "smile more" isn't going to do crap. But it seems that you and Pooj only believe in diseases that you can physically see. "Your throat is enflamed, you have strep," or, "Your bone is broken, let's put it in a cast!" Good thing neither of your are care givers.
  11. Is your cure for depression to simply start smiling?
  12. But there's scientific proof that alcoholism is a disease.
  13. Wow... I bet you think that alcoholics should just not buy and drink beer too, right?
  14. Ouch! So, would Lynch buy a cheap house like that? It's only $250k... Or is that the "other" Lynch that lives in CA?
  15. I found this address for a Marshawn Lynch in Tracy, CA: http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source...mp;t=h&z=18 Would he have an unlisted address to protect his privacy? And does that neighborhood look like a place where he would live? No idea. http://maps.live.com/#JnE9eXAuMzAzOStQZXJy...TEzNC42NDg0Mzc1 Click on "birds eye view" -- house looks pretty cookie cutter, but nice.
  16. More reason to invest in a DVR, and not listen to the radio. (and I don't think the internet can get more adult oriented - even some of the banner ads on Yahoo mail are a bit risque)
  17. Ironically enough, our Microsoft rep sent this to me a couple of days ago. I think he wants to convert
  18. IANAL, but that doesn't seem accurate to me - otherwise any photographing/recording of police officers could be considered "evidence in an investigation." I think they need a court order regardless. http://carlosmiller.com/2009/01/21/do-poli...te-your-camera/ I'd be interested to know the real legal answer on it though.
  19. Assuming that it's true -- his rights were violated. Authorities have no right to confiscate your film, even if you take photos/video while trespassing.
  20. I wouldn't use this as a reason not to fly. Tragedies can strike anywhere. Remember the I-35 bridge collapse in Minnesota?
  21. Now you did it -- you're stealing Carlin's material. GG now thinks that you are a horrible human being .
  22. WTF are you talking about? So you're agreeing that using an unsecred wireless network isn't nice, but isn't wrong either?
