  1. Yeah, the URL is very screwed up. Do this: Open Windows Media Player, in the File menu select "Open URL", and enter the following URL: http://nhl.comcast.com.edgesuite.net/strea...&status=comcast That's the one that works. The one they provide on the HockeyLive page is bull sh--.
  2. The second game is for tomorrow. And it's on now. Try it again and tell me if you get it. Of course, I found an even better way around it. B word to the wife enough that she goes ahead and orders NHL Center Ice for you.
  3. DC. I think they're full of sh--, frankly. Windows Media Player isn't resolving the link (if you right-click on Comcast's video window, you can get the direct link from the properties. Run that in WMP directly...and it says it can't find it.) Comcast screwed it up, I'm pretty sure. I've got tickets for the Dec 2. Capitals game. Right behind the away goal, third row up. I'll be the one holding the "You've Been Slugged" sign.
  4. Well, they finally admitted that it's blacked out in my area. That only took an entire hour.
  5. Already tried that. It crashed my computer. I'm talking to Comcast right now; they insist it's working fine, and I'm at fault.
  6. Not if you write up a really kick-ass grant proposal for it. You don't actually think the government funds research based on relative merit, do you?
  7. If you disagree on budgetary considerations, I'm with you. But realistically, the grant money's available, there's just an arbitrary rule in place saying "Thou shalt not provide grants for fetal stem cell research involving new cell lines." So it's not like not doing the research is saving money; the money's just going to other people... ...probably the Institute for Scientific Creationism and Intelligent Design in Topeka, Kansas, the was this administration does things.
  8. Are you joking? The only races I see coverage on are those involving some real or presumed scandal (e.g. Ohio), or Iraq (e.g. Lieberman's race in Connecticut). Bite me. The liberal media's liberal. The conservative media's conservative. The media, overall, isn't all liberal or conservative...just bull sh--.
  9. I think researchers are starting to discover that quite a few cancers might be caused by stem cells. It's an interesting hypothesis, certainly, and one that has significant implications for cancer therapies (imagine being able to stop an otherwise untreatable tumor in its tracks by targeting not the tumor itself but the handful of stem cells causing it). So naturally, the research isn't the least bit worthwhile...because, hey, stem cells are dangerous. They might cause cancer. We can't research that.
  10. Yep, me too. I think they screwed up the URL for the feed.
  11. Oh. You took classes. Color me impressed. Take more classes. Learn more fundamentals. Your knowledge of statistics is pitiful. And where did this survey come from? Please tell me you made it up...
  12. Oh. You figured it out yourself. Because you're wrong. Both answers are wrong. Neither method gives you a meaningful result. #2 is "better"...in the same way a roofing nail through the hand is "better" than dropping an anvil on your toes. You know...the three people here that actually have a background in this stuff - me, Coli, and Ramius - well, we actually have a background in this stuff. What's your statistical background? Because if the three of us are going to be "taught" statistics, we'd like to know it's from someone that might actually stand better than a snowball's chance in hell of knowing something about it...
  13. "I don't support the research, because no one's done the research." It is !@#$ing amazing to me that otherwise normal, intelligent adults accept that bull sh-- reasoning.
  14. More to the point: no one's sure because the research isn't done yet. But the detractors say "Well, it's not proven it'll lead to a cure, so why do the research?" And as a point of fact: it's not a "ban" on stem cell research. It's a ban on using federal funds for research on new fetal stem cell lines. It's stupid, yes...but the US leads the world in dollars spent on stem cell research. Plenty of stem cell research is going on in this country, the federal government just isn't paying for it. Which is not necessarily a bad thing...frankly, I question the sanity of anyone who says something isn't being done or isn't being done right because the government isn't involved. And what office, precisely, is Michael J. Fox running for? Who is he opposing again?
  15. And who's telling you the answer?
  16. I don't want to draw any conclusions from it. Terry Bradshaw? Are we really getting that desperate in our arguments about Losman that we have to drag Terry friggin' Bradshaw up as an example? You know, JP Losman and Otto Graham both have six letters in their last name. I don't want to draw too many conclusions from this, but thought you might like to consider it...
  17. 1) It's not salacious. 2) It's not Iraq. 3) The Democrats may actually win Congress in the mid-terms; the liberal media isn't going to call attention to massive voting irregularities too early and blow the Democrats' chances. (I've got $5 that says the NYT breaks the story if Dems lose, but Fox does if they win. )
  18. No matter how you slice it, I can see why people would think that. Also, no matter how you slice it, I don't see why anyone cares. Fox is entitled to stump for his agenda. Rush is entitled to stump for his. Fox has a chronic debilitating physical disorder, Rush has a chronic debilitating emotional disorder. BFD.
  19. And I read something today that said the NHL "decided" to recognize the Sabres' winning streak "despite" three of the wins being in OT.
  20. You misspelled "species"...
  21. Because they can't make it salacious. If you could abuse Congressional pages with a Diebold machine, they'd be all over it like white on rice...
  22. I still think there's a possibility you're making all this up. Has anyone actually seen Ed's fiancee?
  23. ...of what? Genetics? Fluid dynamics? Nuclear physics? Botany? Economics? Golf?
  24. I don't think this qualifies as "stealing" an election. Thieves are much more creative. Seriously...do you honestly think Diebold would attempt to set up the entire country for massive election fraud in such an obvious manner that everyone and their grandmother could hack into their system? I find it much more likely that they're simply totally incompetent.
  25. "But...but...but...they do it to!" It's just a tacit admission that he holds his own party to a childishly low standard.
