As much as we'd love to internalize this and blame ourselves, you really can't look past the fact that the !@#$ing Patriots* have won the god damned division every year but two since 2001. And it'd be easy to make the argument that they win the division beating up on lesser opponents, except for the fact that they've been making super bowl and conference appearances throughout that run. The Patriots* haven't had a losing season since 2000. NO OTHER DIVISION IN FOOTBALL HAS A TEAM THAT'S BEEN THAT CONSISTENTLY GOOD. Bills fans beat themselves up pretty good and they're plenty frustrated with the organization. That's all well and good, but let's not pretend that our division and the playoffs in general have been there for the taking throughout the last 14 years.

Kinda corroborates my initial inclination (only because it was a TG story): his report is shades of trumped-up truths, skillfully elusive of any outright, demonstrative statement that would pin TG to an otherwise lie. Perhaps the implicit mountain is but mole hill, after all. Or...may be GR is avoiding it because TG tripped up a forthcoming announcement. IMO, either of these scenarios are just as plausible as Littman/Overdorff being the cuffs that bind Russ to the pipe.

plus he seems to live to press the buttons of Bills fans. for all we know, this could be mostly true, but wildly overstated. could be the worst kept secret in and among those close to the team (reporters included), Timmah may have just pumped it up to stimulate the fan base. either way, he's winning.

If it doesn't workout and the team continues to lose, he's absolved for his post-Bills career/ If it does workout, and they start winning, he's a hero for doing it in spite of the penny pinchers. Oh, the motivation for airing these grievances is very legit. Putting Sr. VP's and the media guy in a bad light in the city's major daily sends a DIRECT message. There aren't a lot of dots to connect for why Marrone/Whaley would float this.

Precisely how I feel. For the last decade or so, the Littman/Overdorf message board whispers have been precisely that. Now it's right the !@#$ out there, in everyone's faces, for better or for worse. The Bills had no obligation to address the rumors before, they're compelled to now. Doesn't mean they will, of course. I honestly believe the only thing that WILL lead to some sort of meaningful action, is the media's treatment of this. The FO isn't stupid. When it comes to damage control, if you survive the first 24 hours, you're pretty much in the clear. If the media (TG, the D&C, et al) pick this up and continue to pursue it, then Russ has a bona fide quagmire on his hands. There's is a lot of Brandon hate being spread throughout this thread and I'm damn curious as to why.
