  1. Modrak just scouts and makes reports and recommendations based on what he has seen. Two years ago he was very high on Cushing, but DJ and Co. pushed for Maybin.

There is only so much Modrak can do. He isnt in charge of making the actual picks.

plus the fact that the bills do so well with late round picks and undrafted free agents shows that Modrak does a really good job of evaluating talent. You can Blame Dickie J for this mess of a roster. He wanted the small quick players which clearly not the direction league was headed.

  2. 2. Pat Williams

    3. Antoine Winfield

    4. Nat Clements

    5. London Fletcher

    6. Jabari Greer (Super Bowl)

    7. Julian Pepers

    8. Priest Holmes 2001

    9. Jake Delohmme (Super Bowl)

    10. Plexico Buress (Super Bowl)

    11. Leornard Davis (locked down leaky O-Line)

    12. Damien Woody

    13. Peyton Hillis

    14. Arian Foster

There are impactful free agents out there, but to your point they're additions to a team not building blocks.

some of these are trades . But you get my point . Except for peppers I would bet at the time we could have signed these players.

  3. Free agents will never build a winner , Buddy is night on the point. That said they can fill some holes from time to time, hold the fort depth type players which are very important. Looking over next years list of available players. I could see guys like Jeff king, gabe watson, maybe a john jolly if he is allowed to play as players that fit the bills. For those who disagree give me 10 free agents in the last decade that were game changing additions I will start the list

    1 DREW BREES

  4. No sour grapes here but I have point out a couple things I noticed. On several pass plays I think the Stealers could have been called for illegal contact for hitting recievers before the ball got there. The dude trying to block Kevin Williams must have post traumatic syndrome today. Did the refs just give up on calling penalties against him. On every play I saw some kind of illegal move. Hands to the face. Tackling by the helmet............

    Anyone concur or not agree?

seemed like they could have called holding on whoever was blocking Williams on almost every play, but it happens both ways

  5. Yes, multiple chances. I'll count some.

The defense wasn't a gem either. How many third down conversions did they stop? How many rushing yards did they give up?

the third and longs in the first have were painfiul

  6. I keep reading post after post stating that the Bills offense is overachieving bunch of bums. I think it is time to start acknowledging that while not perfect it is a failry solid unit.

Running back:. Jackson is a solid running back and his paired with a young and dynamic rookie, in additiion the fullback does his job well

Wide recievers : Disspite Johnson's horror show yesterday , you would have to say this is a pretty solid unit. Remember you have a first and second round pick on this unit. Plus Johnson, Nelson and Jones all are late round steals. They still have Easley in reserve , basically coming in as a rookie with nice upside next year

O line: Pretty darn solid in the middle , Urbik showed yesterday thaty at worse he is a useful reserve. Left tackle is improving and will be the guy again next year. Right tackle could use an upgrade but Horward and wrotto have not been as bad as one might have thought.

Tight end : This is the one position that needs help. Neslon has been a disappointment, weather his head is messed up or he has not recovered fully from surgery, clearly he has not lived up to expectations.

Quaterback : The most controversial position. In my estimation Fitz has become a top 15 Q.b , with room for further improvement. While I would never pass on a guy like Luck and I happend to Like Mallett more then most, I would be fine riding with Fitz for the next few years at least .

  7. Where are the Bell haters today? Nowhere to be found. In fact, where's the "draft OL at all costs" brigade?

    Silent, as they should be.

Never a bell basher , and was not a draft a tackle at all cost in the first round, but I was a believer that we needed big time help on the o line when the season started. I was wrong. Lets hope they put together a front 7 next year and see what happens . Things are looking up .

  8. We knew the schedule had only 4 or 5 wins in it when it came out in the Spring. None of this is news. We knew the Bills were a bottom 10 team. Next year we get the Jets, Pats Phins twice plus the NFC East (Dallas, Giants, Vick, McNabb) and the AFC West (Chargers, Raiders, KC), so the bottom line is the Bills need to get a lot better fast or you can look forward to writing this same post (that, hey, we are the 20th best team in the league -- yippee!) one year from now.

I think we get the Nfc west

  9. I have been saying all year if the Bills Played in the Nfc west they would be making a play push right now. Good news is anohter good offseason and a easier schedule next year( currently due ot face both afc and nfc west plus cinn, and houston), they could be in for a big turn around. That said if they go to 18 games next year I have no idea how the schedule works . I am more optomistic now then any time during the dickie J era

  10. Phil Taylor is the Bills next NT, 6-4 360. He isn't ranked too high now but will be shooting up the draft boards when the time comes. I love Kyle but space eater he is not and would be even more effective at end. It would be an awesome line of Troupe and Kyle at end and Taylor at nose. This guy is solid ant not sloppy at all and would be a great addition to our defense.

"His footwork shows a freakish athleticism for somebody who is as big as he is."I still look at him in the huddle and I'm amazed how big he is," Baylor safety Jordan Lake said. "I remember at a practice last year watching him move from sideline-to-sideline. It's so cool to see a guy who was 360 pounds move like he can." "The sky is the limit for him, but Phil is still chopping wood and getting ready to play," Norwood said. "His potential is off the charts. But at the same time, he's doing the little things we've asked him to do and that's made me excited.""Phil is a rare blend of size and quick-twitch muscles," Briles said. "I'll be disappointed if he's not first-team All-Big 12 because he physically possesses that type of ability. That doesn't mean he'll do it, but physically, he has that type of ability."If he approaches those lofty platitudes, Taylor could be mentioned in the same breath as other Big 12 defensive linemen like Oklahoma's Gerald McCoy and Nebraska's Ndamukong Suh.

Taylor, a native of Clinton, Md., ranks second on the team and tied for 18th in the Big 12 with seven tackles for loss. He has 45 tackles, 28 of which were solo, through the first 11 games of the season. Taylor's 33 tackles through the first eight games of the year were more than any other Baylor defensive lineman had during the entire 2009 season. - Baylor football ...Has squated 665, bench 455 pounds and powercleaned 400 pounds... Lets do fairley at one end williams at the other and taylor in the middle

  11. They're both making big plays in this game but Fairley is making bigger plays.

That excessive celebration penalty was BS.

Fairley had a dirty rep but this guy is stepping up big time.

One of these guy could be the Bills first round pick.

Also please quit the Robert Quinn talk he is too risky with too short of a resume to take in the first round.

I was really impressed with fairley big time difference maker

  12. Quick question , do you think Fairley play can translate well to 3/4 end. Playing him and Williams on the D line could be tremendous .

I simulated a draft giving equal priority for all 8 of the Bills' needs---QB, RT, LT, OLB, TE, WR, DE, and NT.

This puts the picks into the computer's hands, giving us the best player available based on the Big Board. The results can help us get our priorities straight for Positional Needs.

Here are the results. I'm providing the drafted players near our pick to help adjust Positional Needs:

This report was produced using Draft Tek's Draft Simulator:

  13. I would like to ad a couple of big block te's, Nelson will be fine as the pass catcher . I guy like matt speath might be worth taking a flier on the cheap , anohter option is jeff king he might cost double of Spaeth .

  14. here is the thing ,if Luck come out he goes number 1 . Weather it is the panthers or they trade him for a king's ransome there is no way he gets to pick number 2 . Todays game is going to decide it the Bills are going to pick number 2 overall or move up to the 4 or 5 range .
