  1. I think this is a good position to be in WRT Oliver. I think he’s the kind of guy who will play his best football in a contract year like this one…
  2. Nahh, I think it's a pretty strong indicator that you're at least drafting starting-quality players with your first round draft picks and not wasting them on silly things like Guards, RBs and off-ball Linebackers. Maybe a better indicator is players who get contract extensions... Exactly, especially for Guards and off-ball linebackers, who, for fifth-year option salary purposes, are lumped with offensive tackles and edge-rushing linebackers, respectively. You could argue that that's really a system flaw, but still...
  3. Beane has only made three first round picks who have been eligible to have their fifth-year option picked up. Of those, only Josh Allen has been extended. Not exactly a great track record. Nice try, though.
  4. They're not too hard to identify: There's about one per draft class. They physically dominate opposing offensive linemen and demonstrate the ability to consistently blow up the pocket and sack the quarterback against Power 5 competition. Jalen Carter was the only one available this year and there is seldom more than one in any draft. Other examples include Derek Brown and Quinnen Williams. There are maybe 7 or 8 in the whole league.
  5. Ahhhh...yep, perfect example.
  6. And this is why you don't spend a first round pick on defensive tackles, unless they are Jeffrey Simmons, Chris Jones or Aaron Donald.
  7. You mean the Cowboys weren’t over-the- moon about taking a space-eating defensive lineman with their first round pick???
  8. Nope. In Oregon you can buy beer/wine in any convenience or grocery store at any time. You must be thinking about Massachusetts or Ontario.
  9. No answer for the second round pick? What are you talking about? They get Wilson and Gonzalez (premium players at premium positions) and then they have two second round picks to use as they please. As it is, they massively reached for a RB and an off-ball linebacker, then drafted a TE with pick 34 to replace the guy they traded for pick 55. Absolutely awful. The only thing they did right was getting Herndon Hooker in the 3rd.
  10. You just answered your own question. The Gibbs pick in particular was egregious. Absolutely inexcusable that they didn’t use that first pick on Wilson or Carter. And there is no way they should have failed to land a CB, like Gonzalez or Turner.
  11. Yeah, the Lions had a horrific draft, especially with all the ammunition they had to work with. The Gibbs trade alone was a firing-offense.
  12. Yeah, Travis Kelce is the obvious blueprint for what Kincaid can become. Of course he’s not going to be Kelce right out of the box, but there’s no reason he can’t be Kelce-like. The other teams in the AFC should be very concerned…
  13. I gave him a first round grade, but then I gave out 105 first round grades this year.
  14. Fortunately there are a lot of them available
  15. Well if you’re right, we can all be thankful that the Vikes took Addison…
  16. Second year in a row we jumped them
  17. Allen didn’t miss a snap and barely even appeared on the injury report. The rest had nothing to do with Dorsey.
  18. There should have been no excuses last year
  19. Mods, can we close this thread?😄
  20. Now I’m worried. Skip is the Jim Cramer of NFL pundits.
  21. 100 percent. What a great pick.
