  1. ‘11/17/24 Game 11 GAMEDAY! Bills vs Chiefs Gamed ay Thread ’It don’t git no bigger’n this, it don’t get no better’n this!’ Not that anyone need be reminded as the entire football World is uttering this phrase today! From Sau Palo to Berlin, London to Mexico and Canada to North Tonawanda! The NFL realizes this as well, placing the telecast in the prime Sunday afternoon time slot of 4:25 pm and sending their entire CBS main studio crew and top broadcast team with full cargo west from the studio in NYC to Orchard Park for an all weekend event! Buffalo & KC are the only 2 NFL teams who haven’t lost at home this year and keeping that intact today is essential to our playoff positioning. https://x.com/matt_bove/status/1856793664607195340?s=61 As unbiased as I can be, I believe the Bills are actually playing better than KC. Yes, the Ravens game got away from us and we hurt ourselves at Houston, but we’re a better team overall imo. They definitely get the nod in coaching though, with Sean’s mentor Reid, Spags running the Defense and David Toub on Special Teams. That blocked FG vs Denver was brilliant in its disguise and opportune choice! We suffered through the Dolphins undefeated season back in ‘72, though we came closest to beating them in a year they knocked us out of a playoff spot. The Bills and Chiefs(/Dallas Texans) have played 55 times, including six postseason games. Buffalo leads the all time series 25-29-1. We have a 27-21-1 advantage in the regular season but are 2-4 against them in the playoffs, losing the AFL title game in ‘66 and the last 3X while whooping them in the AFC Championship following the ‘93 season, which ended HOF QB Joe Montana’s career.. Our boy Josh Allen is enjoying his finest season to date and he’s a man who doesn’t forget how previous seasons ended. Winning today gives us a chance at the #1 seed and the coveted lone Playoff bye, while knocking them from their undefeated quest. In what’s become commonplace this year, yet another Buffalo Bill won AFCPOTW Award with Taron Johnson earning it for his gem of a game at Indy last week! He had a sack and a PICK 6! The Pro Bowler is now considered the finest Nickle CB in the game today. Expect the Chiefs to minimize his impact by going with heavy personnel a lot today. KC leads the League in 3rd Down conversion at 52% and is probably the biggest reason they have yet to lose. Our ‘Bend don’t Break’ Defense won’t get it done today, so our front 4 has to be sterling and their OTs are a liability. GROOT and Von, this means You! *Side note: of the AFL’s original 8 teams, only the Broncos and Bills still reside in their home cities with their same name. AFL East; Buffalo Bills, Boston Patriots, New York Titans(Jets), Houston Oilers AFL West; Denver Broncos, Oakland Raiders(Las Vegas,LA), Dallas Texans(KC Chiefs), Los Angeles Chargers(San Diego then back to LA) The World is watching! Show Out, Buffalo! We GOT this! GO BILLS!
  2. Humorous antidote: HOFer Mike Catalano said after the game he was exiting the men’s room just as Joe Brady was entering. A moment later we picked off another pass. Ever tried to ‘cut it off midstream’??
  3. Having seen every SB while knowing how the teams got there, the occasions where the winner played great all season are few and far between. In some cases -such as with us- a team currently plays in a Conference where overall the talent is less than the top 5-7 teams in the other Conference. Sometimes it just happens this way.. Currently, Detroit looks very good, but no one else in the NFC is blowing out anybody. 🤷‍♂️
  4. So it’ll look like the ‘75 game referenced above! TB & JA17
  5. We’re in trouble.. Boomer in the House where ‘NO ONE, CIRCLES THE WAGONS!’
  6. Week 10?? Really?? 🫨 Weren’t we at St. John Fisher just a couple weeks ago, excited for football to be back but trepidation about the upcoming season? Long time Bills from McDermott’s initial roster and hero’s of recent success became Cap casualties, solid players who’s contracts were up were encouraged to depart and our finest WR since Eric Moulds asked for and received his release. National pundits -and many here!- believed the run of 4 straight Division titles would come to an end and even reaching our 6th playoffs in 7 seasons seemed far fetched. We all felt winning our opener would be essential if playoffs were even to materialize later. But a poor performance at home in the 1st half vs. Arizona had us distraught and fearing the worst. Fast forward 10 weeks and we still struggle to play good football in the 1st half..🤦‍♂️ The difference from then to today is the unexpected rise of rookies and young developing players stepping into big roles and surprising every observer in the League to stand at 7-2! Even more unbelievable is a 4 game lead in the Division we were expected to surrender! All this before Macy’s even inflates the balloons! 🎈🍗 🦃 Yes, our one true hope was that our QB would escape serious injury, as a healthy Josh Allen in his 7th season seems destined for a legendary career -and is our greatest bandaid for what ails the team. Indeed, he’s performing at a League MVP level since the 2nd half of game 1. But nothing is settled yet as still half the season remains. As for today, a road game against the Colts present another challenge. They’re in a logjam of AFC teams with 4 to 6 wins so they’re still very much alive and have opted for reliable Joe Flacco to lead the team to the finish while needing to end their current 2 game skid. We KNOW Jonathan Taylor is great -no one needs reminding he killed us in our worst home loss of this era, 41-15 in ‘21. Overall though, they’re a middling team on merit so their season is on the line to either right their ship starting now or become an also-ran. Their Defense isn’t good, plain & simple. They’ve had issues on Offense (OL & WR) as well so they’re asking a lot of Flacco to rescue their season. In this context, they’ll be without stalwart WR Michael Pittman, their Center and DT Deforest Buckner is doubtful to boot! Then, there’s us. As a prominent team for years now, we get every opponents’ best effort, so we have to stay sharp and on top of our game! It’s getting more difficult with each week as injuries continue to mount! Poyers’ cheap shot on Coleman knocks him out of at least this game and likely through the Bye. Amari, Shoeless Mack & Samuel are also banged up while DE Smoot went on IR.. 🤦‍♂️ WR Jaylen Virgil had been a head scratching add the past 2 weeks and is now on the official 53 man roster.. Is he going to figure in here going forward? His 4.3 speed is his calling card so we’ll see him on the field this week, if only out of necessity. Our Defense has been marginalized by injury as well with Smoot now on IR, Spector out and numerous other players hobbled. Then there’s the disappearing act of our highly paid front 4. Very little pressure and virtually no run contain. Daquan, Ed & Von seem invisible these days. I hear it’s called “Strategy” but it isn’t very productive any way you call it..🤷‍♂️ So, while Beane didn’t add anyone at the trade deadline, he did bring back DTs Quinton Jefferson & Jordan Phillips this week to try and help out. 🤞At least they both know the system.. On the Plus side, we added yet another player to our growing list of League accolades for AFCPOTW in Tyler Bass, who despite shanking a PAT and doinking another one through, was 3-3 in FGs including a team record 61 yarder at games’ end to 🧹 the Dolphins! We need him to be past the yips from now through the playoffs! Last point; we NEED our TE’s to show up and show out! -Note: Quinton Jefferson’s’ TD was a thing of beauty as Allen was folded up like origami! Snap out of it Dawson & Dalton! We need you to CATCH THE DAMN BALL!🏈 The undefeated Champs come here next week and our TE play has been pedestrian at best all season. That simply won’t get it done with a crippled WR group. We hold a 38-33-1 record overall vs our former Division foe. Gotta add another Dub today! Let’s DO THIS! GO BILLS! Vic chimes in Joe Marino & Indy counterpoint chime in on the game Flashback: Bills/Colts GOTW 1975 Fergy & Jones go toe to toe. Flashback2 The blizzard game!
