You’re right, I’m wrong. Christ, I sound like my father. Never missed a play from the 1st preseason game in 1960 and never missed the chance to criticize our play. When they frustrate me, I typically back off a couple days to regroup. But what I’m criticizing isn’t a one-off poor performance. Only the Jets game showed our best performance on Defense. We have a few new players but we’re not getting any better. Yesterday was a shock. Many Penalties, clock mismanagement gaffs, poor tackling fundamentals and caught out of position routinely. Battling out of routinely poor drive starts is difficult for every team. But that’s what happens when you can’t stop the run. For as thrilled as I was with our opening drive TD, the rest of the game I wondered aloud whether we’d be soon be playing catch up the rest of the way. That’s no improvement from the now also-ran Ravens game. We’ve invested so much into the Dline yet to date it’s worse than last season. No pass rush sans 1 or 2 plays per game and overall maddening 3rd Down Defense. I’d feel better about our situation if there were aspects that definitely showed improving play, but I don’t see much yet..

My take is we’re gonna lose next week. With the current standings, our opponents to date have a combined 3-15 record. Our thrilling opening night comeback vs B’more turns out to be just like the last 3 games. Very flawed teams who woulda/coulda/shoulda won! Ravens are now 1-3 on merit and now Lamar is hobbled. The Pats* are 2-2 and just had a dominating victory over Carolina. Drake Maye is more polished than Josh was in his sophomore season. “HIM” had a TD & over 100 yrds receiving. They already know they’re the only team in the Division who can rival the Bills and we’re not even in October! They annihilated the Panthers as a tune up for Buffalo while showing the League they are legit! They know the chump change we’ve escaped tell the story WE also know. That we have an all-timer at QB, an impressive RB and 51 Jimmy’s and Joe’s who are easily fooled and allow their opponents to gouge them all day, choosing only to defend the deep third. They know we suck at tackling and playing Man in coverage and only Bosa is a threat to disrupt the pass. Yesterday showed more about how bad the Aints are than the perceived good the Bills are. Go ahead Sean. Sit good players who CAN go -if needed, again. If Allen was bummed the last time the stadium emptied out in the 4th quarter, he’s in for a shock next week. It’s likely gonna look like the Covid year -imo.

Biting my tongue that players who COULD play were held out as precaution. Why? Cuz I B word about it every year. Were Oliver, Milano & Brown capable to play? imo, 2 were and they were noticeably absent.😡 Lamar doubtful to return. Hamstring!
