  1. Seriously, you're citing NE? Look at their first round picks over the last six years. Find one guy who was worth a first round pick that they used. The fact is, you say Baltimore is having a better draft? On what are you basing that? None of the players for either team have played a down. I'm not saying you are wrong but how do you make that assessment? Cody is not an every down NT. He is a one or two down player. They can afford to take him because they have Ngata already, who is another one to two down NT. Now they have a solid rotation. Buffalo didn't have anyone that was a true three down NT. Troup has that potential and showed it at UCF. Campbell has a lot of raw talent and the physical tools, but there is a reason that he fell into the fourth round, and was taken by the team that always covets physical attributes over football players. Buffalo needs serious help and if a player they had targeted was going to be there at their pick, why would them move? People on this board only seem interested in flashbang style moves that grab headlines, like trades and any shiny toy that they didn't select that the cursory college fans on this board have heard about from some draft magazine or predictions from their Madden game. Seriously, get real. There are reasons 31 other teams passed on the guys you listed, sometimes multiple times. Are you saying all of those FOs are dumber than you? Get real.
  2. No, but you'd have to be pretty close to that to predict complete disaster from those guys when we haven't seen how they play the position. Maybin has an unbelievable first step and good moves to make a very effective pass rusher from the OLB position. Kelsay isn't in there at OLB to blitz, he'll be used primarily on rushing downs to plug gaps. If Schobel comes back, I expect him to have a very good season rushing the passer from the outside, though time will tell if that is true. To predict complete disaster from three guys who have the skill set to do very well at the position is a bit ludicrous at this point. And generally, it's people who are wrong most of the time that feel the need to tell everyone "I told you so" when they're right.
  3. That's an interesting statement to make, considering no one has seen how poorly or well Maybin will play at rush LB. The same could be said for Chris Ellis and Kelsay as well, considering neither one of them has played the position on this defense or with this scheme. If you're so good at predicting the future, perhaps you should start picking stocks for a living. Foresight is really good in that business, I would guess.
  4. Whitner's not going anywhere. He is a solid player, though not a perennial pro bowler in what is probably one of the best secondaries in the league. This is not the old FO. There will be one more skill position drafted by the Bills, QB in this round. Otherwise, expect a lot of OL, DL, or LB.
  5. Ted Larsen C NCSU Followed by Dan LeFevour QB CMU. With all the good players still on the board in the late rounds, it's a good thing we have several late round picks this year. Buffalo is really having a heck of a draft up to this point.
  6. 1st 6th Rounder = Ted Larsen C NCSU 2nd 6th Rounder = Dan LeFevour QB CMU
  7. Do some research on the guy before you run your mouth. The fact is, there really were only two, perhaps three LTs in the draft that were worth a 1st round pick. Bulaga is a RT and we don't need an RT. Take a look at Wang's numbers and size, and he has the makings of a starting LT. My point was that this board moans and whines about all the picks the Bills don't make, rather than actually looking at why they picked the people they did. Perhaps it is because we couldn't stop the run last year and that's what cost us about three games?
  8. And they just drafted him. Good point, and apparently the FO saw the same thing.
  9. Buffalo took an OT. Probably got very good value there as well. Can we all stop whining about it now?
  10. Buffalo should go after Selvish Capers or Ted Larsen (C NCSU) for the O line. As for Cam Thomas, he's not that good. He is not an upgrade over anyone on our roster, including Troup. There's a reason he's still available in the 5th round when so many other DTs have gone much earlier. Here's a clue, he's not that good.
  11. Of the OL left in the draft, tell me, which of the tackles do you think could come in and start this year? Legitimately start at LT this year? Which of the ones available to us at 9 would have made more of a difference to the offense than Spiller will? Heck, which of them would have been able to come in and start day one at LT, not RT? Sarcasm is fun. I know, I use it a lot. But is there anything the Bills have done that you haven't found to be stupid or worthy of ridicule since you joined this board?
  12. Something about the fact that Buffalo has openly admitted it is beginning a serious rebuild led you to believe they would be in the hunt on October 1st. I fully expected Buffalo to be, at best 6-10. You might have been under the delusion that all this team needed to be a SB contender was a new coach and an LT. I say to you, "Hello Princess, Welcome to real life." This team has needs at basically every position except G and DB. Sorry to burst your bubble, but this has been a good draft, expecially in regards to improving the defense to the point where we might be able to stop the run.
  13. I think you're right. I actually think you draft board below may be how it plays out for the team. I like Larsen from NCSU a lot. He is a four year starter, the Jim Ritcher Award winner, and was never injured. The guy was great against some of the better NTs in his conference, including absolute domination of Cam Thomas who everyone here seems to have a hard on for that gets worse because Buffalo doesn't draft him. I see LeFevour in the 5th and Larsen with our first sixth or a trade up in the fifth to get him. That would move Hangartner to LG and Levitre out to LT. That would be a solid OL. Not best ever, but solid.
  14. We didn't draft any DBs this year. We took one receiver, because we only have one on the team right now who is over 6'1" tall. Easley is a very good prospect who should get a chance to get on the field as the #4 or #5 receiver for the Bills. We need OL, but obviously Buffalo didn't like the prospects left at the OT position by the second round. FYI, Spiller was probably the best overall player in the draft, and any other year, he would have been a top five pick. Buffalo is fortunate to get a playmaker of his ability.
  15. Yes, he does. And his different sense has been right far more than the mentally challenged intuition that so many on this board have had over the years. How many times do people have to say this. WE COULDN'T STOP THE RUN LAST YEAR BECAUSE OUR DL WAS ******* TINY!!! So, they draft to make the DL better and more able to stop the run. That's what killed our D last year. Not being able to stop the run. Makes sense to do that, right? So they do. As for the players you wanted. Campbell was not a 1-3 rd selection for a reason. He's very athletic, but the dude will need three years, at least, before he starts at RT, let alone LT, for the Raiders. Pike and LeFevour are still available. Clausen was highly overrated and has only average arm strength. Brown has serious medical concerns and fough injuries. Something Buddy and Co. have said they don't want. No injury prone players, a mistake that the Old FO made more times than not. Instead, Buffalo drafts top players for the DL for the time they were drafted. Troupe's numbers are very good. He was a four year starter and played big for UCF during their biggest games, and he lit up the top centers at the Senior Bowl. Alex Carrington has the same profile. They are tailor made for a defense that needs run stoppers who have shown they can do that job over a long college career. Spiller was the best player in this draft. Buffalo was lucky to get him at 9. Any other year, he was a top five pick. None of the players you've named were better than what the Bills got, and we filled needs. The Bills said repeatedly that there were two tackles they would have taken at 9. Both were gone. And Easley in the Fourth was not a reach. Look at his numbers and some of his film. I'm so tired of people here taking Kiper's, McShay's or Nawrocki's boards so seriously and just puppy dogging their statements. These guys aren't scouting or working for pro teams for a reason. If they were such good talent evaluators, don't you think some NFL team would have put them on salary to go and scout? For crying out loud people, let the talent evaluators do their jobs, and take what the talking heads say with a bit of a grain of salt.
  16. They reached for Troupe? Let me guess, you would have rather us taken Cam Thomas right? The guy who still to this point hasn't been drafted. Troupe is 6'5 320. He is the quintessential 3-4 run stuffer. Who else was going to play NT? 6'3 295 Kyle Williams? Please. And Carrington lit up his opposition at the senior bowl and had 19.5 sacks in 24 games over the last two years of his career. The guy was a four year starter and was never injured. Their picks make sense, considering we haven't been able to stop the run for five years now. McCoy has tiny hands and a noodle arm Trent Edwards 2.0 that won't be able to throw in the November and December weather. I think Nix, Gailey and Co. know what they're doing. I trust their judgment over the spittle frothing mental incompetents that frequent this board.
  17. We needed another receiver, and obviously the Bills didn't think much of Campbell in the first, second or third rounds. Buffalo addressed a position of need with Easley, another big, fast receiver who could see action as the fourth guy this year. Good numbers for a team that played very well, even against much bette competition.
  18. Considering the Fourth Round hasn't started yet, and Bruce Campbell is still on the board, I have to as what the **** are you raving about? The Bills won't make their fourth round pick until about 11:45. And what WR are you referring too? Come back from la la land. This is reality. And the QB you were referring to was Fitzpatrick, not Fitzgerald. That guy is a WR for the Cardinals.
  19. Don't forget that Levitre's natural position is LT. He played LT for three years in college and looked good there in his brief performances last season. I would like the Bills to take a natural C, like Ted Larsen, move Hangartner to LG, where he is more suited than C, then move Levitre out to LT and see how that looks. That adds more versatility to the OL, as you now have players at every position on the line who can play every other position if a starter goes down. I think the Bills feel they have most of the OL pieces in place that they need, but that depth is the issue. Frankly, four of the five positions on the OL now are above average. Levitre, Hangartner, Wood, Meredith/Green are all very capable players at their positions. Only LT is a need, and D. Bell has a lot of potential. Another year of strength and conditioning, and he could be a very good LT. Last year he was injured and thrown in the fire too early, but that experience will help his development.
  20. Either: Ed Wang LT Ted Larsen C Dan LeFevour QB Buffalo is set at LB and DL. Odds are good they go OL, but I do think, if pressed to pick one of these three, Buffalo will take Larsen. Four year starter, Jim Ritcher award winner, not injured in college, and made Cam Thomas, look like a fool when they played each other twice.
  21. If half the board did this, things would be a lot more interesting around here. We might be able to rationally look at the things the team did, rather than waste time reading about why the player the Bills just drafted will suck because Mel Kiper or Nolan Nawrocki didn't have them rated as high on their draft boards. I have a feeling the Bills will take an OL with their next pick, though I think they will take a C, rather than an LT. There are some very good Cs left in the draft, and taking one of them would allow Hangartner to move to his natural position of LG and move Levitre out to LT, where he spent most of his college career and really seemed to hold his own in the few appearances he had at the position last year. No matter what, Levitre at LT, at least to start the year, would be a better move than starting Bell, whom I think is going to need a bit more time to develop and get over that knee injury. I do, however, think that Bell could, in another year or two with additional strength and training, be a very good LT.
  22. Yes, but, two points. First, it's not so easy to pass on third and ten or more. You have to run the football to be able to throw the football. Second, the Bills have one of the best and deepest secondaries in football. Under your theory, we should continue the Dick Jauron strategy of taking the best DB available because that way we can stop the pass. I don't think that was the point you were trying to make, was it? If so, perhaps you should review the tape of the last four years and see how that worked out. Without a big DL to stop the run and collapse the pocket, even the best secondaries are going to be ripped to shreds. If you take away one phase of the opponent's game, stopping what they're really good at becomes easier.
  23. As to the original poster, I think the Bills will draft an OL, but not a LT. A guy that fits the formula for how the Bills are drafting is C Ted Larsen from NCSU. Jim Ritcher Award winner, got better every year he played, and is a four year starter. He could come in and start for the Bills, and allow a shift in the line that would improve two positions. Larsen would start at C, moving Hangartner to his best position at LG. Levitre could then shift over to his natural position at LT, where he played the majority of his college career. Or, if wood is not ready, you can move Hangartner to RG until Wood is ready to play again, and then move the lines. This would make sense and no one can argue that an improvement at center isn't another need we have on this team, particularly if it can make us better elsewhere. As to the above quoted statement: If Cam Thomas was so much better than Torell Troup for the 3-4 NT position, one where many teams have a need for starters and depth, why is it that he is still on the board in the fourth round? Did all of those teams suddenly figure out that their current players are better or younger? Or could it be that Cam Thomas wasn't that good? I think he wasn't that good. In ACC play, he didn't look particularly dominating against the better Cs in the conference, including Ted Larson at NCSU, who just made him look stupid. The fact is Thomas was overrated, and there's a reason no one else took him. Just because Mel Kiper thinks he's good or better than another player, doesn't make it the truth. Buffalo got a really good player in Troup and addressed two positions of need. We needed a true 3 down NT and a big body at DE who can help us stop the run and improve the rotation. Stroud is getting older and we have yet to see how Spencer Johnson will adjust to being a DE. The Bills were TERRIBLE for the last four years against the run. We're addressing that need with this draft. People need to chill and see where we are at the end of the draft. I'll bet you the players we select in the first four rounds will turn out to be starters on this team. I like "Army of Darkness" too, but he very well could fall to us in the Fifth. Buffalo should address the OL in the Fourth, and try to trade Lynch for another fourth, which they should use to get another OL or a QB.
  24. I fully expect that the round four pick will be an OL, most likely a tackle. If Bruce Campbell is there I'd like to get him, but he was a one year wonder at MD and Nix is not fond of one year production players. Not sure who the pick will be, but should be a tackle. However, keep this in mind. Levitre played LT for three years in college. Hangartner's natual position is G. Don't be surprised to see the Bills take a C, perhaps Ted Larson from NCSU, who won the Jim Ritcher award to play center. That would allow them to move Hangartner to G, and move Levitre over to LT. D. Bell then becomse the LT back up, and can work on getting bigger and improving his technique. Jamon Meredith and Cornell Gree can fight for the starting job at RT, and Eric Wood starts at center. Just a thought. Also, there are still good OL and skill players left. This was a very deep draft, and most of the players taken in the first four rounds have a higher percentage chance of becoming solid NFL starters.
