Was hoping for Mike Davis from Seattle, signed with Chicago for 2 yrs 3 mil per. He is only 26 and looked good this year running and receiving. Gore had a good year but man, just when you thought the backfield couldn't possibly get older....

Like all the people using the word 'judicious' on here every chance they get, ever since Beane used it. ?

On the plus side, it can't get any older than it is right now! (Unless we pull some RBs out of retirement)

Highest paid center at more than 11 mill per season. He worth that, or is that the buffalo premium?

Pouncey was the highest-paid for a few days. Morse will be the highest-paid for a few hours. Paradis is about to get more.

I think it's just the nature of the market. In 2 years, I'd guess that he'll probably be somewhere in the 5-10 range.

It's tradition around here for people to lose their marbles over the backup RB position.

Names....you want names? Come on stop looking for facts when people are busy trying to find the nearest window to jump out of.

    ?

I'm just trying to help people back off the ledge due to us spending 1.06% of our cap on a RB that can still produce at a high level and is a leader in the locker room/on the field.

What happens if McCoy gets hurt? The Rams brought in a veteran back in CJ Anderson. When Gurley was injured Anderson was able to carry the load. I'm not against bringing in a veteran back, in fact I'm for it. But bringing him in when he can only be sparingly used makes no sense to me.

Like Joe B, I don't think this is it for them at the RB position. I assume they're taking a mid-late rounder. To me, this is purely a depth type of move -- someone who can have a role in the offense, and be a leader. Even if McCoy goes down, I don't see Gore being and every-down type back. I think they'd rotate him with someone else.

Separate note, but somewhat related... but do we have a well-respected leader on this offense besides McCoy? I'm trying to think through it, but he's the only one I can think of.

This signing makes no sense to me. I doubt any other team had an interest in him. He's a 35 yr old back who has no burst and has to be sparingly used. He's a high character guy who is well past his prime. The argument that he is an asset in the locker room and in the huddle doesn't address the more important issue of how much can he contribute on the field at this stage of his fading career. My suggestion is instead of signing him as a player just sign him as a coach. Being an upstanding citizen doesn't mean that he is going to be a contributing player. This is such  a perplexing and oddball move that it rises to the level of being silly.

Is 4.6ypc bad? Do you really think they're signing him to be a bellcow in this offense?

  6. Really not sure why people are upset with this.

    • Still a good RB
    • He's getting the 80th-highest APY
    • Is respected by players around the league
    • Is a locker room and team leader

Can someone honestly tell me what there is to be upset about here?

2 VERY veteran 3rd stringers today. We’re knockin’ ‘em dead in FA! Literally. We’re grave robbing..

Did I miss a signing besides Gore? Or are you talking about the 26 year-old Kroft.
