http://www.cnn.com/2006/POLITICS/02/12/abramoff/ A senior Bush official insisted the administration does not know how Abramoff got into the meeting or on the White House grounds that day. B.S. I have been to the White House, had to have my S.S. forwarded ahead each time and been check out just to get onto the grounds and then again upon entering the WH for a meeting. Doesn't even pass the Smell Test. On as side note: A friend of mine who works for the Native American Rights Fund, when asked by me why he wasn't upset that Abramoff took so much money from the tribes without actually providing them with any assistance other than some proforma meetings responded, White man taking something from Indians without giving anything of value back in return is new news?

Cheney shoots hunter.....accidently

Cheney's folks tried to get a pass, but the press found out anyway. Secrecy always leaks. From the Tribune wire: In another bit of intrigue, The New York Times reported late Sunday that Whittington was commissioner of the state's Funeral Service Commission. In 1999, George W. Bush, then governor of Texas, named Whittington to head the Commission, which licenses and regulates funeral directors and embalmers in the state. "When he was named," The Times revealed, "a former executive director of the commission, Eliza May, was suing the state, saying that she had been fired because she investigated a funeral home chain that was owned by a friend of Mr. Bush. "The suit was settled in 2001, but the details were not disclosed." ...of course, darn ironic. And the beat goes on. -

Somebody check that Dick is still alive, or was he shooting from a wheel chair. Didn't he just get out of the Hospital for another heart issue. Can't understand why he was hunting in the first place unless his friend was about to deposed by the Grand Jury in the Scooter Libbly leak and his "best friend" knew some additional info. Quick on the trigger Cheney, that is why Walmart should be required to supply the morning after pill, accidents can happen Dick just proved the point, even at 65. -
So if I understand you correctly, you thinks its funny, "humorous," when considering the creation of life or not to. I will pray for you. I don't see anything humorous in that decision. I practiced safe sex until I was married and then responsibly figured out if it was okay to go ahead. The rest was in God's hands and I have been blessed. Not that there wasn't some scary moments early in my life with breaking condoms etc. Non of that was humorous and I don't think there is for these women. So why are you so anti-morning-after-pill if you take life so lightly. Better go back to the Bible or whatever book or faith you belong to and check up on the sanctity of life and what is says of humor in that creation. Otherwise you are no better the terrorists in mid-east. You just haven't pulled a trigger yet, or maybe you have, we don't know about it. Even suicide bombers take their mission seriously and probably don't find much more than gallows humor in it. For the rest of your inane arguments about Walmart's right to carry or not to carry a certain drug, it is under the perview of the State of Massachusetts if Walmart wants to practice its trade there. If you don't like, it don't live there. I gather you don't. States have the right to regulate pharmacy practices and ironically, this is a states rights issue, not a Federal issue. Since you don't live there, don't worry and if you don't want the drug, don't buy it. Just like I would like to get the hypocritical 700 club off my TV, but can't, because states regulate local cable companies and require this crap to be put on my channel schedule doesn't mean I have to turn it on. Heck, I am even subsidizing it, unlike you and Walmart.

No just sarcasm, like Alaska needing to change its P.R., oops that was ironic. When the feds stop insuring wild Alaska salmon under USDA's crop insurance program as an example, and like Buffalo, NYs current economic situation...it will take more the P.R. but actual results, maybe less snow too. North Dakota has an incentive program to move there and are still losing people, who in their right mind wants to move to ND unless you go to college for hockey or farm wheat. But I digress, really it is part of the healthy debate of political ideas that makes this country great. As a consumer, it requires you to be informed to wade through the hyperbol, but the style of debating really has not changed much since the founding of this country. So get off your high horse and back down in the gutter with the rest of us where you belong.

US Budget has SURPLUS in january
YellowLinesandArmadillos replied to JimBob2232's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Even worse, the trade deficit isn't even accounted for. See the lastest NYTIMES article: http://www.nytimes.com/2006/02/11/business/11trade.html The United States trade deficit widened to a record $726 billion in 2005, the government reported yesterday, adding more fuel to the increasingly partisan debate between advocates of further globalization and those who contend that free trade is causing the loss of too many American manufacturing jobs. So much for that fake surplus. -

because when you increase fiscal policy, and have a sound gdp targeted monetary policy, even with lower taxes, you create jobs by encouraging investment... which generally leads to more people earning higher income which increases the money you bring in from taxes. the inequality gap though i think is increasing. in general, even though bush has spent billions of dollars, the higher income he has generated from the productive economy has been good. 600757[/snapback] Higher general income does not necessarily result, the great Republican lie. If the tax breaks are geared toward corporations and high tax bracket folks the resulting windfall tends to go towards capital investment, not necessarily bad, but they way they are currently strucutured allowing credits for offshore investments, the tax break probably doesn't generate much U.S. income. However it does in those countries the funds go to, i.e., with capital flight going to Mexico, China etc. Tax breaks for mid-lower income folks tend to increase the velocity of money and therefore act as an income generator within the U.S. creating more wealth through the money multiplier effect of spending. Capital flight actually can remove or better yet move offshore funds with little benefit for the U.S. economy and in the long run, those capital investments come back to haunt us as it negatively effects the trade deficit, once the goods produced from those investments are shipped back to us. So in the long run, the effect these tax breaks have on the treasury and economy can be negative. -

Sorry, misread your text, it belongs on the DCCCs website, it is about legislation, so technically it belongs on her official website and as long as it doesn't name a specific political party, historical facts and public statments concerning the legislation is okay too. The left and right scales skirt the line, but they don't name anything but actual ideological perpective as related to the issue in the here an now. Check out some Republican sites, they use the terms liberal and conservative all the time and she doesn't violate House rules by naming any current Member therefore, it is not campaign related and is part of the speech and debate envisioned in the Constitution. The form is somewhat creative, but compared to some of the right wing crap I have seen on this Administration's website, and other Congressman and Senators websites it is pretty tame. -

You misunderstand the point of this months receipts being greater the this months layouts. The government as you well know has to balance its revenues against is obligations. In certain months receipts will indeed be higher and typically are in January. Among other months that I am aware of, September, when all spending obligations must be allocated typically dwarfs revenues and any surplus achieved in January and April, aren't you required to make a mid-year progress report of your obligations by the end of June where there is another uptick in governmental costs that put these surplus revenues to shame, even with so much of Iraq spending out of this equation. Must have been a slow news day at reuters and the OMB sent out its typical current budget press release. Still, no context, were those figures better, the same or worse than each of the last couple of years? If a lot better, then maybe you got something going. -
House didn't lose value in the last 5 years, sold one a year ago and did very well under a Clinton tax break, primary resident for 2 out of 5 years. However, the last 6 months it has gone down and while I don't expect to move soon, and I understand the cycle. But you are avoiding the question on the validity of your original topic, and while their are lies, da.. lies and statistics. You didn't even have the decency to give it any context from whence the lie came from, not that it was hard to figure out.
-
Yep the Clinton years were bad for my wallet, the economy sucked, and my House lost value. 5 years into Bush's administration housing prices are falling again, interest rates are going up, capital flight is increasing and energy prices are on the rise with a little plateau right now. Oh, the economy is good and I am proud of the job this President is doing. Like a House of cards, here it comes, invest in China.

So is this whole discussion, so what, but it is part of the Congresswoman's official duties under the speach and debate clause of the Constitution, not as part of her campaign, which in today's day and age is about fundraising. Didn't see any fundraising info attached. As far as DCCC, I haven't checked, but unlikely, Dems are not the organized. I could see it if were the RNC. Besides if were DCCC, it would not be allowed on her Public website. Besides, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to create something like that, just a young underpaid staffer who is web savy and has a digital tape deck or video camera. Pretty simple actually. -

Man you are pathetic, you did take it off the Drudge report, get a real source of info. -
Thanks for posting the same sort of dribble on another line, for those who believe this misleading stat read the factual based responses to this post on his so labeled topic post. P.S. He took this info right off the lying headlines of the right wing Drudge Report. Darn it will be all over Rush Limbaugh tomorrow, spreading more Republican lies and then the RNC will follow up with talking points, more lies, and then the President if he can pronounce it will make a prime announcement, followed by the dweeb of a Press Secretary using it as an answer to an economic question.

Another Bush apologist, will probably get the same post in April...this is the same kinda crap Rush Limbaugh spews, probably got it off Matt Drudge's website. Thanks Kelly!... Yeah, yeah, I know. The Treasury always has a surplus every year in January because the corporations and citizens pay their tax dividends. These guys are so predictable its boring, but necessary to respond to the lies and manipulations. "BUT 1) The economy is not bad 2) The stock market is where it was when clinton left office 3) Now, we are running a surplus" Be careful of constructing glass houses, just takes the right sized rock well placed to bring it all crashing down. It is bound to happen sooner or later. As the police establishment in Washington are so often quoted as saying, "not if but when?" -

Something we can agree on, bring on the lions. Heck we can't be any worse of in American politics and leadership than we currently are unless Hoover is resurrected.

Yep, Liberals took all their hardwork for granted and rested on their laurels. They are just now reopening their eyes and taking action. But they have a longway to go and many fights to re-battle. -
A vote sounds good, besides I might suprise you, while I am not all one sided and have a list of dems that I would throw in there with the Reps and Corporate jerks, starting with Kerrey. He qualifies for being stupid and probably from smoking too much mother nature.

Question, if this is on her official public site and not on her campaign site, how does it specifically violate the rules of this group. It is not campaign related and if deemed so would infact be a violation of House rules, let alone this site? Unless you are stating that it falls under soliciting support for a members position? Just a question, not a judgement as to the arguement> -

Don't know, guess I am not just a knee jerk liberal, just a jerk sometimes. -
Now that sounds workable, why not, corporate america would mind itself better with that hanging over its head. Besides, seeing corporate heads roll with a few politicians would make great theater...brings me back to the old coliseum days. Through in a few bears and lions and a guillotine and man can you imaging, TV ratings would go through the roof.
