  1. Guys...my friend and his famiily were on the same flight home with Josh today.  Apparently, he was able to be very sweet to their daughter (a huge fan) and took time from stuffing his face full of airport food to take a picture with her, sign an autograph and tell her how awesome it was to meet a Bills fan in Paris.

I've asked my friend if I can share the picture but be warned, he may seem grossly obese to some...

  2. There was a recent suspension in the NHL where one player (Shane Pinto) got suspended for HALF the season but the NHL was very nebulous on what he exactly did and made a blanket statement that he "did not bet on his own team".

Through people I know, what had happened is he had his friend make a bunch of "prop bets" on him and he went out of his way to meet them (i.e. number of shots per game, hits, points, etc.)

This is going to happen more and more.

Certain "stereotypes" about gun violence exist for a reason. Last year, black people made made up roughly 60% of the homicide arrests, despite the fact that about 70% of inner-city murders go unsolved. They are around 12% of the population. If you take away people in that group who are unlikely to kill (women, kids, the elderly), we're talking about roughly 4-5% of the population committing over half the murders. That's an issue that we should be able to discuss without worrying about accusations of racism.

Sentencing disparities are explained away by them beimg more likely to have prior convictions, which is the #1 consideration when time is handed down.

But the reason it won't be truly discussed with the racial element attached to it is because no one will be honest as to WHY crime and especially crime amongst black men in inner cities is so high.  Because that requires us to look at the institutions/policies/systems that were put in place to bring such levels of abject poverty and lack of opportunity that crime becomes palatable.

It's just easier to sit there on a high horse and say "black men are more violent than white men" without any context whatsover.

At least you have the guts to say it.  I would encourage you to do a modicum of research about prevailing stereotypes in the depiction of black people in the news and media, a topic which has decades worth of research for your consideration.  Or you can take a look at sentencing disparities between blacks and whites.  If you're still convinced that the white man can't get a fair shake in America then we can agree to disagree.

It's also especially rich that when the mass shooter is white, the media trips over itself to humanize the shooter, determine "why" he did what he did and have a whole slew of interviews with his neighbours about how he was a nice guy who kept to himself.

Meanwhile, if the shooter was brown or looked Muslim...

All this to say, Favre is a complete idiot. Whether the Jenn Sterger harrassment (while Favre's wife was fighting cancer) or this, the dude has a mental problem and knows he can get away with a lot just by his name. The irony in the welfare scandal he stole from is that Favre made over $150 million in his career.

He doesn't have a mental problem...he's just stupid.  He's a stupid athlete whose gifts throwing an oblong object prevented him from trying to become an educated member of society.  Not only that, his skill and fame gave him a sense of invincibility.

More gun control is not to be taken seriously when it’s championed by those that vote for politicians who don’t enforce existing laws.

What they advocate for is more gun control for mothers and fathers that want to protect their family.

We have a society in decline and we are awash in guns.

Gun violence is a symptom of the deeper cause.  But no one wants to dig deeper because that would require actual introspection as a society and we’re conditioned to fix everything with band-aids.

I just wanted to bump this because this was so well said.

No one wants to look into WHY gun culture is gun culture.  The 2nd Amendment has been around forever, but this raving need to own as many guns as possible (gun sales always go UP after media-publicized shootings) is a NEW thing.  In the 80s and 90s, no one was screaming from the rafters about banning guns, or stocking up on AR15s....what happened?!

How do we get back to "common sense" and guns?

About 91 years ago, Hitler began disarming the population, which quickly targeted the Jews.

Cars kill millions of people a year, shall we take those away or are they needed and serve a useful purpose?

As someone who is not American, why is the only option on the table "take away ALL THE GUNS"?  Most people just want some sensible gun legislation that at least TRIES to keep guns out of the hands of people who shouldn't have them while allowing those who abide by the law the right to carry them as per the 2nd amendment.

There were gun laws before, most have been repealed.  I just don't get it.

I'm genuinely surprised that the NFL, a league that's driven to make as much money as it can, does not want MOAR FOOTBALL to sell advertising on.  Especially knowing they can charge even more as more eyeballs tune in for OT.

What is more likely? Mahomes retires early or plays til 40?

If he gets to 4-5 SB’s over the next 3 years, I could easily see him walking.

No chance...he is driven by the want to be the greatest of all time now.  If he can still go, he will play til he can set every record possible.  I can see him pulling a Tom and being a mercenary at the end for good teams once KC's window closes

    Watched a couple Diggs interviews.

Honestly... I think he's just sick of people asking about it. I think he believes he clearly squashed any thought of him wanting out of Buffalo when in Training Camp he spoke glowingly of the Bills and said he wanted to retire a Bill.

Even his interviews now he says he doesn't want to be traded. He says he and Josh are family and Josh has done so much for him.

The whole "where there's smoke there's fire" statement came in the middle of him riffing.

    We can't move Diggs.

    We won't move Diggs.

Diggs will continue to be evasive all offseason because that's just how he is.

At the end of the day, where is going to go, even if he wanted to be traded?  He wants to win a Super Bowl. Period.  He's made that abundantly clear that is his motivation.  What contender has the cap space to bring him on?

I don't know what this means, exactly, but it's exactly correct.

Mahomes has an approach to the game that is superior to Allen's, and it's something that Allen still needs to develop to be an all-time great.  I'll mention a few things.

When Mahomes comes on the field late, with the game on the line, he has an attitude that we all can feel.   First and foremost, it is a total absence of fear.  Everything about him says he expects to win.  And his look says, "I know we're going to win."   It's more that it says, "I know what I need to do at this moment.  I'm going to do what I need to do."

Allen is getting there.  Earlier in his career, sometimes you could see the fear in his eyes.  Late this season, it wasn't there.  He was in charge, and confident about what he was doing.  Still, he isn't so much in charge that you can feel his presence and his confidence.  Some of it comes from having completely mastered the offense, from understanding every nuance of what needs to be done on every play.

The importance of that attitude that others can see is that it affects his teammates on the field.  The other players all admire the QB, because the QB knows so much and executes under fire.  When the QB executes like Mahomes and is in charge like Mahomes, the players' attitude goes beyond admiration.  Maybe it's trust.   The other players trust Mahomes to get them into the right play, to execute the right play, and the other players know exactly what he expects of them.  So, Patrick seems to raise the level of play of the whole offense.

Josh has all the tools.  Josh's punishing physical style already has won him the admiration of his teammates.  They love him for that, and they'll follow him anywhere.  However, he needs to show the mental power, the mastery of the game.  He has to execute with discipline, something that Mahomes is great at.   Patrick just never seems to make the wrong throw.   His judgment is excellent.   Josh is still growing into that.

I know others in this thread have said, "Josh is great and he's not the reason the Bills haven't won," and I get that idea.   However, the supremely good quarterbacks raise the level of all the players around them.   We're seeing Mahomes, and we saw Brady.  Peyton had it, too.   I don't think Rodgers had it, and I think Allen currently is like Rodgers.  Rodgers has amazing talent, and sometimes his amazing talent wins games for his team.  But Rodgers didn't have his team behind him in the same way that Mahomes and Brady do/did.  Rodgers demands that his teammates follow him; Mahomes brings his teammates along with him.

Allen's teammates love him and all that, but when they're on the field with him, they don't execute for him the way the Chiefs execute.  It's as though they're waiting for Allen to do it, whereas Mahomes gets his teammates to help him do it.

Obviously, there's no data to support any of this, but it feels real to me.  One of my strongest reactions to the Super Bowl was that I was hoping that Allen was watching Mahomes, because Allen has to do what Mahomes does.  Physically, he doesn't need much of anything, but mentally he needs to have truly mastered the offense, the plays, the strategy, the situation, all of that, AND his has to project an attitude to the players that says, "I've got this; not just physically.  I've got ALL of this."

A lot of words to end with "SOURCE: I pulled this all out of me arse."

Sorry John I Disagree. The Bills will win the superbowl when Josh makes plays when it matters. You know like Patrick Does and his 3 superbowl rings. At the end of the Bills chiefs play Josh made poor decisions. Like it or not it is why he watched Mahomes win a ring from his couch.

What poor play did he make in the 13 seconds game?  Did he tell them to pick "heads" on the coin toss in OT?

A lot of you folks really need to let go of this belief that Mahomes is otherwordly and some sort of Mental God over Josh.   The only difference in terms of talent and skillset is that one has the greatest offensive coach of our generation calling his plays and his players always make plays for him, they don't drop sure touchdowns in the playoffs, shank kicks to the left, or inexplicably let a team march into field goal position after not squibing a kick in under 10 seconds.

  12. I hated the Pats during their run, but it was more out of pure jealousy because of how shoddy and poorly run the Bills were in comparison.  The entirety of the AFC East was a joke and essentially, every season started with a bye for the Pats.

With the Chiefs, I hate how they are the ONE team standing between us and the Super Bowl.  We FINALLY have a great team again but we're just not great enough...it's infuriating

Chiefs play mistake free in big games. The Bills don't.

False.  The Chiefs make mistakes, it's just that teams don't make them pay for them AND they're resilient enough to overcome them.

Case in point, right at the start of the second half, Mahomes throws a terrible pick on their side of the 50. The Chiefs D stands stout while the Niners do nothing and then just punt the ball back.  Another 3 and out gives the Niners great field position, and they do nothing again.  Next possession, the Chiefs score and they keep scoring.

Kansas City and specifically Patrick Mahomes has a mental edge over the Bills. He has it on Lamar Jackson too.

The Bengals seem to not be affected due to their brashness.

That's one thing that really worries me about the current Bills...have they accepted that losing to the Chiefs are an inevitability now?  Seems like they "we just can't get it done" narrrative is going to stick to them.

Compare that to the Bengals.  They are brash and fear no one.  They don't have the same talent as the Bills and Chiefs but they love punching teams in the mouth and laughing at them.  And they don't give a rat's arse about "respecting what the other team has done".

  15. This reminds me of being a Winnipeg Jets fan in the 80s.  They were clearly one of the best teams in the NHL, lead by a generational talent in Dale Hawerchuk (y'all know Ducky)...it's just that they continually got bounced in the first and second round of the playoffs by this stupid team from Edmonton who happened to have some dweeb on it named Gretzky.

The 80s Oilers are considered one of the greatest teams/dynasties of all time.  Those 80s Jets?  Just a footnote.

I really, really hope that Josh Allen's Bills don't end up as a footnote

They said the same thing about the Pats after their SB loss to the Giants and all the way up to the 2013 season when they couldn’t get past the AFCC… they then tore it up again and won 3 more SBs, could have been 4 of not for Big D Nick and the Philly Special.

They won the SB after looking absolutely pedestrian at times this season with some Sub-Par Mahomes play in the Playoffs…

Not to mention the worst collection of receivers Mahomes has ever had.  Now they’ll find a way to get even better on the offensive side of the football…lucky us.

I don't ever recall the Bills or local sports talk guys mentioning Patrick Mahomes as a potential Buffalo Bills pick,..  For that reason I never pay attention to the people that says the Bills failed by trading the pick.  He was never getting drafted here.  I don't think the Bills were selecting a high QB at all in that draft.  The real losers were Chicago taking Trubisky #2 overall.   KC was smart,,,  they saw something no one else did and traded up ahead of the Saints to grab him.

I think this is what bothers me the most about any Mahomes discourse.  The revisionist history that the Bills goofed by not taking him and trading the pick.  Those of us around this board would all agree that maybe a handful of people liked Mahomes as the Bills pick in that spot.  Majority of us didn't think at all that he was on the Bills radar.

Also, does it really matter since they drafted Allen anyways?  We're not 2 time Super Bowl champions because Mahomes has been light years better than Allen, they have the rings because Reid is light years ahead of McDermott.

Not being a smartass here, but how did Cleveland treat him like crap?

Was it the coaching situation?  Because I feel like they provided him with some talent on the field.

They knew he had a significant injury to his throwing arm and instead of shutting him down, let him gut it out leading to him having a very sub-par season.  Knowing that, they let him take all the blame for the team's performance and rarely stood up for the guy.  And to thank him for putting the team ahead of his own health, they dumped him unceremoniously for the Gummybear Bandit - Portrait of a @SS Grabber and made Mr. Massage the highest paid QB in the league.

Prior to that, he had a different OC every season and had no consistency on the coaching side of things.
